Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2816: Chapter 2825: Can’t Find Anyone to Help

Ten minutes later, he lifted his head again and picked up the phone he had angrily thrown onto the table. He had been so furious that the phone screen was partially cracked.

”Hope it’s not broken,” he muttered, pressing a few buttons and finding it still functional.

He breathed a sigh of relief, hesitated for a moment, and dialed the number.

The ”beep” sounded, and he worried that the person on the other end might hang up like the others had.

Fortunately, after a few beeps, the call was answered.

”Hello?” A woman’s voice, warm and gentle.

Austin Harper found it hard to speak the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

The person on the other end perceptively sensed his awkwardness and took the initiative to ask, ”Has something happened to your family? Do you need my help?”

Austin had called every number in his phonebook today; this was the first time someone was willing to help, voluntarily at that. As a grown man, he could barely contain his excitement, his chest aching as he spoke, ”Sister Renee, can you help me find out what’s happened to Grandpa?”

He didn’t want to call the woman he liked unless it was absolutely necessary.

But he had tried asking everyone he could, and none of it worked.

Renee was the only person he could call.

The Anderson Family had some connections, but since the Old Master had retired a while ago, others had shifted to being professors or ventured into business.

So only the connections from the older generation remained.

Comparatively, Renee’s family situation was not as good as his own.

”Of course I can.” The person on the other end replied promptly, then paused before awkwardly explaining, ”You know my family’s situation; I’ll ask some of my grandpa’s friends, see if they can find out anything. But don’t get your hopes up too high; I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to find out.”

Austin felt nothing but gratitude right now and thanked her without hesitation, ”It’s okay, just the fact that you’re willing to help... I don’t even know how to say it. Thank you, really. Thank you. I will remember your kindness! Remember it forever!”

There are too many people who embellish a situation, but few who provide timely assistance.

He was truly grateful that Renee would take his call and was willing to help him think of a way.

Ever since his family’s sudden crisis, he had been in a state of confusion. Her help was not only a ray of hope but also a mental support that sustained him.

Austin was lost in his excitement.

Suddenly, the person on the other end brought it up, ”By the way, have you called Adam yet?”

Austin snapped back to reality, hesitated for a moment, and said, ”...No. It seems like he also has some issues. I didn’t want to bother him.”

He had seen the news on TV in the morning; Adam’s girlfriend seemed to have been shot.

Renee casually mentioned, ”Why don’t you give Adam a call, ask to meet up with him? His network is much stronger than ours combined. If he’s willing to help, things would be much easier.”

”But I...” He felt embarrassed to ask Adam for such a favor; it wasn’t a small matter.

”How about this, you arrange to meet him, have a drink, show concern for him and his girlfriend. Then call me, and I’ll help you talk to him.”

Austin vaguely sensed something amiss but couldn’t immediately pinpoint what was wrong with her suggestion, ”That doesn’t seem right.”

”Don’t you want to find out what’s happening with your family? Your grandma is quite old; if you figure it out, she won’t have to worry so much.” Renee hit right at the core of his concern.
