Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2814: Chapter 2823: The Counterattack Begins

When he heard the first sentence, Adam Sinclair was still a bit dissatisfied. But at the second one, his dissatisfaction turned into stunned silence. After a while, he could only land a helpless punch on the man’s chest. ”Come on, can you not use this kind of way to tell me I’m still way off every time I think I already love someone enough?”

Baron Lawrence didn’t really react. He gave him a cool glance. ”Way off from what?”

Adam, ”...” So the whole world knew he was obsessively in love with Enna Clark, except the guy himself, who even thought liking someone to this extent was normal?

Adam decided not to keep tormenting himself on this topic. He handed him another cigarette and asked, ”Have you found out who did it?”

”Wesley.”

When Baron Lawrence mentioned this name, his eyes went cold.

Adam felt the temperature around them drop. His expression grew more serious. ”Things were fine, so why did he suddenly make a move on Enna?”

”He knows I’m about to move against the Harper Family.” Baron didn’t hide anything from him and said bluntly, ”I’ve already contacted August Oliver and had him act. I sent him back not so he could go crawling back to his roots. If he wants to work with me, he’d better show some sincerity.”

”You’re sure he can be an ally?” Adam frowned uneasily. In his opinion, August Oliver and Wesley were connected by blood after all, and he was worried the two might join forces to play Baron.

Baron knew exactly what he was worried about. He lit the second cigarette Adam had handed him, and in the flicker of the flame, he said icily, ”I’m sure.”

August Oliver hates Wesley. There’s no doubt about that!

Before approaching August, he had already investigated him inside out.

August’s birth mother was a stage performer and singer, always dreaming that one day a record company would notice her and let her debut. In the end, at some accidental dinner, she caught Wesley’s eye and was raped by him. Later, a female singer framed her for stealing, completely cutting off her dream of singing on stage. Dealt a double blow in body and mind, she withdrew from the entertainment industry and fell into doing bar gigs.

The gap between her dreams and reality was too big, and her mental state deteriorated badly. For the first ten-plus years of August’s life, he lived amid his Mother’s hysterical accusations about that man who had ruined her. Even so, he still lived with her, the two relying on each other. Until one day, his birth mother could no longer endure being a man’s plaything, and her voice had been destroyed by years of drinking and smoking. She couldn’t accept any of it anymore. That night, after cooking a lavish dinner for August, who was in high school at the time, she chose to commit suicide.

August Oliver’s hatred for Wesley was etched into his bones. It would absolutely not change because of money or power.

That was why Baron could rest easy sending this ticking time bomb to that man’s side.

August also knew that relying on himself alone to topple Wesley was pretty much impossible. The only way was to cooperate with Baron!

Seeing him like this, Adam, who had still been a little worried, finally relaxed as well. ”As long as you’re sure. Just be careful. And if you need my help with anything, you’d better remember to tell me. Olivia took that bullet; there’s no way I’m letting her take it for nothing!”

The cold, aristocratic man didn’t know if he’d heard him or not. He lowered his head to flick the ash off his cigarette, using the acrid taste of smoke to rein in the violence boiling inside him.

He was waiting for August Oliver’s ’sincerity’!

If August couldn’t even put this bit of ’sincerity’ on the table, there’d be no need for them to work together. A useless person wasn’t even qualified to be his pawn, let alone his partner!

Once August made his move, Baron’s counterattack would begin!

Wesley, are you ready?
