Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 338: 338 Waiting

Every day after work, Zhao Yanli would go to the fertilizer factory to wait for the workshop director.

People were also so bothered by her that they couldn’t do anything else.

”Comrade, I found a truck, but they also want a hundred yuan.”

Zhao Yanli immediately understood. This truck would cost an extra hundred yuan.

She agreed without thinking. ”Thank you, Director, thank you so much. I wonder when I can pay and get the receipt?”

”Come over tomorrow morning, I’ll have someone take you to get the receipt.”

Zhao Yanli returned excitedly. She found Zhang Haisheng, who also went out every day hoping to find a lead, but this really wasn’t something just anyone could manage. After all, it wasn’t just one or two bags, not even one or two tons, but a whole truckload of ten tons of fertilizer.

”Accountant Zhang, Director Wang found another truck, but it’ll cost an extra hundred yuan.”

Zhang Haisheng clicked his tongue, an extra hundred just meant spending an extra yuan per bag, or overall, an extra two yuan.

But it’s still better than nothing. ”Alright, I’ll go pay this time.”

”Okay, go to get the receipt tomorrow morning. If Zhou Yongbing still hasn’t returned, Accountant Zhang, you take the two truckloads of fertilizer with you, I’ll wait for Zhou Yongbing here.”

Zhang Haisheng shook his head, ”No need, you take the trucks, I’ll stay. I also know Zhou Yongbing, if it comes to just one truck, I’ll take the train back myself.”

A grown man is much safer than a girl, not to mention this Xiao Zhao has never been out, how can we feel assured leaving her here alone?

Zhao Yanli thought about it and nodded. ”Alright, thank you, Accountant Zhang.”

Zhang Haisheng watched Zhao Yanli’s departing figure. Thinking that the girls from the Zhao Family were quite impressive. Unlike his own cousin’s family, who weren’t so fortunate.

Forget it, he didn’t want to think about them. Just thinking about them gave him a headache.

The next day, the two went to the fertilizer factory. Director Wang took them to meet another workshop director, who took them to pay and get the receipt.

The time given was to load the truck the next morning.

Zhao Yanli also slipped a hundred yuan to Director Wang. With the receipt, the two went to the transport team; Zhou Yongbing hadn’t returned, so they could only arrange for two other drivers.

It took two hours for the two trucks to finish loading.

”Xiao Zhao, you go back now, be careful on the road. There’s no ice and snow, so the road is quite good.”

”Thank you, Accountant Zhang, I’m heading back.”

There was also a driver here who had been to the farm, so Su Yuanyuan just sat in the truck.

The two chatted sporadically along the way.

”Brother Zhang, you drivers really have a tough job.”

”Yeah. Young people can’t handle it, but at our age, with less sleep, we can get back earlier.”

”Your family must be very worried about you, right?”

”Yes, but I’m better off than them, only have an elderly mother and a thirteen-year-old son at home.”

Zhao Yanli felt a bit embarrassed; this was really bringing up someone’s sore spot.

”Haha, it’s fine, my wife left several years ago.” Zhang Fusheng laughed, finding this young girl quite amusing.

He had been to the farm before and heard from Xiao Bing that these four girls were even more capable than men.

”Sister-in-law passed away, why didn’t you find another one?”

”She didn’t pass away, she remarried someone else. Because my schedule is irregular, sometimes I might not come back for ten days, half a month, or even a month.”

Now, Zhao Yanli felt even more awkward. She simply stopped talking.

She felt that whatever she said would be wrong.

”It’s okay, it’s been so many years. I’m used to it. By the way, what happened to that little girl before?”

”She has something to do, so this year I came out myself.”

”You’re all quite impressive, Xiao Bing praised you all. Said that the four of you are very capable.”

”We work in the fields all day, used to it.”

”Haha, able to handle the hardships.”

Then the two began talking about the crops in the fields, and Zhao Yanli didn’t feel so awkward anymore. Otherwise, she would have felt really embarrassed.

They only stopped at the farm machinery station to refuel, generally having bought food for a day or two.

Zhang Fusheng admired this young girl quite a bit, being able to endure hardship, not bad at all.

Five days later, they arrived at the farm; one truck stopped at the farm office first.

”Director Feng, I’m taking this truck back. Accountant Zhang is still waiting, if possible, there can be another truck, if not, he’ll take the train back himself.”

Feng Baoshan was all smiles, ”Go ahead.” He hadn’t expected to get two trucks, he had no complaints about one truck being used by them. It was brought by them alone.

Since it was daytime, they went straight to Zhao Qingxiang’s house on the way.

Four tons were unloaded here directly, two of them for Zhao Qingjie.

The two brothers also got in the truck to help with the unloading.

The truck stopped directly at the Li Family’s door. Four tons were unloaded here directly, two belonging to Su Yuanyuan.

The remaining two tons were unloaded at Zhao Yanli’s house.

With the pesticides and fertilizers prepared, they could rest easy for the winter. This year they were quite timely, with no snow yet.

Zhang Fusheng stayed for dinner since the truck from the farm office hadn’t arrived yet.

Zhao Yanping wasn’t stingy, so she made dumplings for them; the home slaughtered pig had meat, so she added more.

Zhang Fusheng was quite tired, and they prepared hot water for him. After washing up, he felt truly comfortable.

Eating the steaming dumplings with garlic and vinegar, it truly was delicious.

”Sis, why aren’t you and Hai Yan eating?”

”We already had lunch. Brother and Second Brother are something else, why didn’t they eat before leaving? I made their meals.”

Zhao Yanli laughed. If they wanted to leave, let them go.

After he was full, they let Zhang Fusheng lie down and rest for a while; after all, in the past few days he only managed to nap at times, drivers really were too tired.

The other driver wasn’t as lucky; the car broke down. After unloading, it wouldn’t start, so he had to fix it.

Feng Baoshan also brought over lunch, which wasn’t bad. Pancakes with eggs and a bowl of soup, though by the time it got here it was cold, it was still consumable.

The sisters were working in another room making shoes, Zhao Yanli was mentally tired, since she had time to sleep, she also joined her eldest sister in making shoe soles.

”Xiao Li, how was it being out this time?”

”Tiring, especially taking the train, without a seat, it was too uncomfortable.

By the way, is Yuanyuan out of her confinement?”

”Tomorrow will be the forty-fifth day.”

”Isn’t it forty days?”

”Xiao Tan said forty-five days.”

”That means Yuanyuan is finally free. But Xiao Tan took good care of her during the confinement.” Zhao Yanli sighed, she used to think Tan Shaoting wasn’t much at all.
