Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 322: 322 Early Autumn

The eight of them had already discussed it, and if they could exchange it for grain, they would be fine without the money.

Tan Shaoting took them directly to the Li Family.

”Mr. Li, I can deliver the meals for you three,” he said.

Li Hongxiang, seeing so many people, smiled, ”There’s no need for you to bother, just take care of Yuanyuan.

With so many people, once your wheat is harvested, we can use them as well. So we’re not in a hurry now.”

Tan Shaoting thought that this was quite good, so he went along with it.

He hurried home; without his wife in front of him, he felt anxious.

Dinner was still steamed buns, but this time they were sweet buns and there was stir-fried winter melon.

He still delivered them to the fields. The sisters ate without ceremony and continued working after eating.

Tan Shaoting knew there wasn’t much for his wife to do at this time, so he helped them by taking a cart of wheat back. Then he returned.

”Seeing Tan Shaoting like this is still okay.”

Zhao Yanping smiled, but in her heart, she felt quite uneasy. It was because of her own unfortunate marriage that her sister was not hopeful about starting a family. If her sister was really delayed, it would also be her fault.

The two of them were in no hurry to go back now, thinking of doing more work.

Actually, the sisters were really quite capable. The two of them had already harvested eight acres in one day. They truly started early and stayed late.

After returning home, Tan Shaoting took care of the livestock, then heated water for his wife. He wanted her to take a bath.

Lying beside his wife, Tan Shaoting felt secure and at ease.

The next day, he got up early again. Today there were buns again; he wasn’t stingy. Anyone who treated his wife well, he was even more generous to them.

After fermenting the dough, he still prepared chives. Today’s buns were chive and meat.

Li Hongxiang had made up his mind yesterday, so there was no need for Tan Shaoting to go to the fields. At around three in the morning, he got up to steam corn bread, with sugar inside, and stir-fried winter melon. The eight people were deeply touched by this.

After they ate their fill, Li Hongxiang took the eight of them to begin cutting the wheat.

This year, he was planning to be a hands-off shopkeeper. Taking this opportunity, he wanted to do less if possible. He didn’t want to work this hard.

Had it not been for his grown grandchildren, fearing they might separate elsewhere when they became adults, he would have wanted fifty acres of land instead of one hundred.

Since this was possible, in the future he would just hire people directly. Of course, he couldn’t say it outright like this, just saying it’s help from relatives.

He and his grandchildren also joined in cutting wheat, and Li Liyun stayed home to cook. This way, they weren’t too exhausted, as he cherished the two children as a grandfather.

Tan Shaoting prepared well, noticing that the eight of them worked quite well. This was good, giving peace of mind.

For breakfast, he made baked flatbread, milk, rice porridge, salted duck eggs, and stir-fried cucumber slices for his wife.

After Su Yuanyuan finished breakfast, she came out to take a look. Anyway, it was just wandering around, which made her feel secure.

Ten people working together still got things done very quickly. Su Yuanyuan felt they could finish in two days. In this way, Li Hongxiang’s family’s wheat would also be completed in three or four days.

”This is still better,” Su Yuanyuan said with a smile.

”Isn’t it? I just don’t want to be overworked. Yuanyuan, come away with me, so our family could spend more time together this way.

Besides, I’ve thought about it, in the future I’ll try to finish tasks early in the first half of the year, then take a break in the second half, staying with you, and I’ll accompany you wherever you want to go.”

Su Yuanyuan frowned, ”For at least three to five years I can’t move, the children are too small, how can I be at ease going by myself?”

”It’s okay, we’ll take the children together.”

”With three kids, how do we manage?”

”Three?” Tan Shaoting was startled and used his Divine Sense to probe his wife’s belly.

There really were three children inside.

He had never seen anything like this. Twin births were rarely heard of, let alone triplets.

”Wife, you, are you alright?”

”Did you not see? Aren’t I doing fine?”

”Wife, are you tired?”

”Tired.”

”Yuanyuan, this makes it even more necessary to leave together. You shouldn’t stay on the farm, having to work and also care for the children. That would be too exhausting, I can’t bear it.”

”We’ll discuss it later. When you leave, the weather won’t be good. The children are too young, they can’t withstand it.”

”Don’t worry about that. I’ll grab the chance to call the city. Rest assured, I’ll wait until the weather warms up, and then our family will leave together.”

Su Yuanyuan was persuaded by Tan Shaoting. After some thought, it seemed possible.

”Alright, if your holiday permits, we’ll leave together.”

Now Tan Shaoting was happy. She finally agreed.

The couple took the little girl for a turn and then went back.

There was no need for them here. When the team came to collect the wheat, and with Li Hongxiang overseeing, the couple didn’t need to show up at all.

At noon, Tan Shaoting still went to deliver meals to the Zhao sisters, and of course, he delivered twenty buns to the Li Family as well.

Their wheat was all sorted out within three days, and the straw was piled outside.

Next, it was the Li Family’s turn for the wheat fields.

The Zhao sisters could also finish in one more day, but the threshing would still take a few days; there was no way around it.

Zhao Yanping hadn’t seen her daughter for several days. Hai Yan missed her mom and aunt too, so that noon when Tan Shaoting delivered the meal, he brought the little girl along.

Seeing the girl clean and clearly well-fed, Zhao Yanping was genuinely pleased to see that she had gained weight.

Li Family’s wheat didn’t get harvested as quickly; mainly because everyone was tired and there was less enthusiasm than the previous days. Yet, it was still quite fast.

The Li Family siblings were drying the wheat at home. They started threshing as soon as the first day’s harvest was in.

Honestly, farm work isn’t easy.

But it’s much easier than last year.

The grains they threshed went straight into storage, waiting to be dried together. The threshing ground was just so big. With so much wheat, there really wasn’t enough space to dry it all.

The Zhao sisters also began threshing, and Su Yuanyuan’s family’s little donkey and sheep were brought over, which helped speed things up.

At home, the chickens, ducks, and geese had been looked after by Tan Shaoting. He continued to help, finding the time to pitch in.

The threshing went much faster, and with the good weather this year, Su Yuanyuan also provided both families with thick plastic sheeting to help with drying.

After five days, all the Li Family’s wheat was sorted out. Now it was to help Su Yuanyuan’s family with corn picking.

They had agreed that Li Family grandparents and grandchildren would drive to transport them. This way, the corn couldn’t be stripped from the cob with the husk on. Although slower, overall it didn’t take longer. Picking corn with eight people was faster than harvesting wheat. After all, there was no need to keep bending over. The Li Family grandparents and grandchildren just kept delivering it cart by cart.
