Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 312: 312 Heart-to-Heart Talk

”Isn’t it so? Forget it, why think so much?

Besides, no one on the farm dares to introduce me to someone now.”

Su Yuanyuan thought of the scene where she beat up Xiang Zhiqiang and understood why people were hesitant.

”That’s because they lack vision. Our Xiao Li is the best girl.

It’s okay. I’ll help introduce you to someone. How about someone like Tan Shaoting?”

At this point, Su Yuanyuan suddenly shook her head, ”No, definitely not, too dangerous,” she couldn’t let Zhao Yanli get hurt. Although their life was honorable, it was too irresponsible towards their families.

”I wouldn’t want it. Just look at Tan Shaoting. He gets married, stays home for a few days, and then leaves. You’re left working the land alone, raising a child solo.

What’s good about that? It’s only because you’re willing to, but I don’t see the appeal in Tan Shaoting. What’s the difference between having such a man and not having one?”

”But don’t you think they’re heroes?”

Zhao Yanli nodded, ”They are heroes, everyone’s heroes, but definitely not their wives’.

Su Yuanyuan laughed, Zhao Yanli’s learning from Li Hongxiang really wasn’t in vain.

Coming out with statements like that now. ”Xiao Li, you still need to study more. I’ve got a lot of newspapers here, a few years old, you should read them.”

”That’s great. I can read them when I’m bored.”

They moved past the subject of matchmaking.

”Xiao Li. You rest for a while, and I’ll make dumplings for you.”

Zhao Yanli struggled to sit up, ”I’ll help you.”

”No need. You sleep. I can handle it myself. Chive and egg dumplings.

Be good, sleep. Don’t push yourself too hard.”

Zhao Yanli smiled and lay down.

When Su Yuanyuan came back with the chives, she saw the girl sleeping soundly. She was too exhausted.

Yeah. A girl just seventeen, doing the work of grown men. How could she not be tired?

Su Yuanyuan sat in the main room, picking chives, making dough. No rush, she could wrap them later.

Four eggs and plenty of oil, the aroma was already delightful.

After wrapping the dumplings, she woke Zhao Yanli, and the rain had lessened a lot by then.

”Xiao Li, why don’t you go call Big Sis and Hai Yan to come over and eat?”

”Sure. I’ll go right now.”

At this time, Zhao Yanping would still be cooking.

About forty minutes later, the three of them arrived, and Su Yuanyuan had already boiled the water.

Hai Yan was very fond of Su Yuanyuan, having been eager to come over earlier.

”Just in time, the dumplings can be cooked right away.”

”Yuanyuan, let me do it. You step aside.”

Zhao Yanping took the spatula from Su Yuanyuan’s hand.

And so, the four of them enjoyed delicious dumplings, and of course, the promised sausages for Zhao Yanli.

”Don’t be shy, I’m not hungry, hurry up and eat, or it’ll go to waste.”

”Yuanyuan, your cooking is really good. Don’t worry, I won’t hold back.”

”Haha, I told you before, if you dared to use as much oil as I do, it’d taste good too.”

Little Haiyan ate five dumplings, Su Yuanyuan stopping her from eating more and letting her chew on dried fruit nearby.

Su Yuanyuan indeed noticed Zhao Yanping’s fatigue and also saw Zhao Yanli giving her knowing looks.

But she thought it best to talk after eating, savor a good meal first.

After the meal, each had a bowl of hot dumpling soup.

Su Yuanyuan couldn’t resist Zhao Yanli’s looks anymore.

”Big Sis, Xiao Li told me about Xiang Zhiqiang. I want to say, don’t take it to heart. Some things, once they end, are over. Like this porcelain bowl, once shattered, even if you patiently glue it back together, the cracks remain, unerasable.”

Zhao Yanping forced a smile, ”I know, I used to think Hai Yan deserved her real dad, maybe I thought too little.”

”Big Sis, actually, no one can be sure of such things. Isn’t there a saying, ’you know the face, not the heart’? Can you know what others think?

So even if you start a new family, as long as you have your principles, no one can bully you or your daughter.”

Zhao Yanping nodded, ”I know now, I don’t plan on remarrying.”

”Who knows what the future holds? Even getting married can be good, I still say, it’s crucial you have your own ideas.”

”We’ll see later. I find living like this pretty good. But Xiao Li, she’s been held back by me. What if my sister can’t find a husband’s family?”

”She won’t, Xiao Li is so outstanding, such a thing won’t happen. No need to worry, she just hasn’t found her destiny yet.”

”Yeah, Big Sis, you’re overthinking. I’m not going for anyone in the farm anymore, don’t worry. I’m still young. What’s the rush?”

Zhao Yanping glared at her sister, this girl dares to say anything.

But she genuinely worries. Fearing she affected her sister because of herself. Now, any lingering thoughts of Xiang Zhiqiang are gone.

All because of him, their family was affected.

After tidying up, they didn’t leave, lying on the kang to rest. Although it’s summer, the rain made the air damp, and lying on the warm kang was pure comfort.

”Yuanyuan, you often go out. Do you know any suitable people?”

”I don’t really know their character, to be honest. If a man lacks character, we definitely can’t let Xiao Li marry him.”

Zhao Yanping sighed. Indeed. She herself encountered such a frustrating character, she can’t let her sister go through the same.

”What about Tan Shaoting’s colleagues?”

Su Yuanyuan hesitated, ”Big Sis, I’ve told Xiao Li. I don’t want her to find someone like that. Constantly worrying.”

It’s not that they don’t have awareness, but she’s realized how tough it is. She truly doesn’t want this joyful girl to live a life of fear and dread.

”Yeah, it’s too dangerous.”

Now truly worried. What will happen for her sister in the future?

”Alright, you two stop worrying about me. Who knows, I might find the right person eventually. Why think so much? Let me be clear, I prefer none over the wrong one.”

Su Yuanyuan laughed, ”Xiao Li, you’ve really learned a lot.”

”Isn’t it so? Let me tell you, Mr. Li even praised my handwriting.”

”Keep striving, young lady.”

”Haha. I know. I’ll work hard. I’ll live the life I like.”

Little Haiyan had already fallen asleep. The three of them were also dozing off, when they heard someone calling outside.

Zhao Yanli suddenly sat up, angrily thinking of getting up. But Zhao Yanping held her back.

”I can handle it myself.” She couldn’t always let her sister step up for her, she had already affected her sister’s future.
