Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 165: 165 shipments

After about fifteen minutes, there was another knock on the door.

This time it was the most capable person around here.

The person came in and looked at the grains. ”Ximei, give them all to me. I’ll bring the truck in.”

”Brother Li, you want all of them?”

”Yes. Give them all to me, and I won’t shortchange you a penny.”

Chen Ximei nodded, ”Brother Li, there’s still quite a bit at home. I just hid them earlier.”

”That much more?”

Chen Ximei nodded.

”Then give them all to me. I’ll give you all the money, but I have to come back tonight for the other half.”

Of course, Chen Ximei was willing. Just in one day, without any worry or effort, she managed to sell everything? Making money was too easy.

Chen Ximei led Li Da to the cellar. After examining it and knowing the quantity, he straightforwardly gave her two thousand and six yuan.

”Ximei, this is the goods from those two people from yesterday, right?”

”Yes. If you see them again, ask if they have more? I can accept more at this price.”

Chen Ximei nodded, ”Alright, I’ll go find them.”

After sending off Li Da, Chen Ximei was all smiles. She had earned three hundred and twenty yuan so easily, something she couldn’t earn even with a year’s hard work.

She was too excited to sit or stand still.

It took more than an hour for her to calm down a bit.

She originally thought of keeping some pork for herself to satisfy her craving, but Brother Li had a use for the pork, so after a busy day, she couldn’t even satisfy her craving.

She didn’t go anywhere today for fear of missing something, just waiting for the two half-grown kids to come over.

She had already contacted Jinyu’s side, and they said one tael was eight yuan, no problem with the quality.

She thought the two kids would probably be able to accept it.

No, she had to go again to tell them they could be exchanged for grains and meat, not just money.

Chen Ximei hurriedly ran out, thinking if she managed this for them, they wouldn’t treat her poorly, making it easier to ask for things, right?

Su Yuanyuan and Tan Shaoting went back to the train station. They really didn’t want to stay here, but staying in a hotel would expose their information, so they held out.

They had millet porridge and vegetable buns for breakfast. The taste was okay. Su Yuanyuan specifically asked and found out they didn’t serve buns at noon, so the two bought twenty, wanting to buy more, but they weren’t sold.

”Do you want to wander around here?”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”Yes, this place is relatively prosperous.”

Walking down the street, ”Let’s go check out the scrap yard. Maybe we can find something good.”

Tan Shaoting just smiled. What Su Yuanyuan thought was good didn’t seem that great to him, but since she liked it, he went along.

The scrap yard had a lot of things, but after a round, nothing valuable was found.

Tan Shaoting pulled out a pack of cigarettes, chatting with the caretaker old man.

”Are you looking for some old items?”

Tan Shaoting smiled and nodded, ”We’re just ordinary people, never seen anything good. Our family was too poor before, didn’t leave us anything. So since we could come here, we thought to get some good pieces to pass down in the family.”

The old man nodded knowingly, this young man was straightforward and honest.

”Let me give you a tip: go to Jiefang Road. There’s a gatehouse with an eaves. It used to be a pawnshop. Just say Old Man Xing from the scrap yard referred you. They should welcome you.”

”Thanks, grandpa.” As they left, Tan Shaoting stuffed the pack of cigarettes into the old man’s hand.

The two found the said place, knocked on the door, and a little boy opened it.

”Who are you looking for?”

”Little friend, we’re here to see your folks. Just tell them Old Man Xing from the scrap yard referred us.”

The boy slammed the door shut, and the two waited outside.

After a few minutes, the door opened again, and an old lady came out. Su Yuanyuan immediately sensed she was formidable.

Despite her silver hair neatly combed, wearing ordinary clothes, she carried herself with poise, even her pants had a crease.

”What’s the matter? Come in and talk.”

The two followed her inside. My goodness, the courtyard was so clean.

The boy brought each of them a cup of hot water.

”Comrade, we’re looking for some good items,” it was best to be direct.

”What are you looking for?”

Su Yuanyuan was surprised at how straightforward she was.

”Comrade, anything will do, as long as it’s good.”

The lady laughed, ”I have some calligraphy and paintings by famous artists, and some ancient books.”

Su Yuanyuan nodded, ”We’ll take them. We also want gold.” She still loved gold the most. Back when she heard about certain countries’ gold reserves, she was very envious.

Now she wanted to collect as much as she could.

”Come on, I’ll show you,” Xing Min knew she wouldn’t be able to hold on to these for long. They could cause trouble. Just because no one bothered her now, didn’t mean it won’t happen in the future.

Instead of letting shameless people take them, it was better to sell them. Whether the buyers could keep them wasn’t her concern.

They entered a bedroom, where everything was neat and pleasant to look at.

The old lady opened a kang cabinet, fiddled for a while, and took out a flat box.

Tan Shaoting took it and placed it on the table.

Xing Min took out three such boxes in total.

”Take a look yourselves.”

Su Yuanyuan did not know much about this, but she looked through them one by one. The first box had ancient books, which scared her into not daring to touch them, afraid of damaging them. From her bag, she took out gloves and put them on.

Her actions made Xing Min feel she had trusted the right people.

Su Yuanyuan looked through them, totaling twenty books.

The other two boxes contained calligraphy and paintings by famous artists.

Su Yuanyuan glanced at the inscriptions, feeling they must be genuine. There were twenty paintings in total.

After packing up, ”Comrade, how shall we exchange these?”

Xing Min raised her eyebrows, ”I’d like to trade for grains. Do you have any?”

Su Yuanyuan smiled, ”What kind of grains do you want?”

”Looks like you have quite a lot of good things?”

”Yes, I’ve got corn, wheat, winter melon, sweet potatoes, potatoes, soybeans, and pork.”

Xing Min was surprised, ”I won’t ask for much. Just give me ten pounds of pork, a hundred pounds of corn, a hundred pounds of wheat, and some of everything else.”

This time Su Yuanyuan was surprised, why only ask for so little grains?

”Comrade, do you have a cellar? If you do, I’ll give you a hundred pounds of sweet potatoes. If not, I’ll give you seventy pounds of dried sweet potatoes.”
