Reborn with a Space: Building a Fortune Amidst Famine

Chapter 163: 163 Enamel Factory

Su Yuanyuan was quite grateful to Tan Shaoting. She just disliked the hassle of taking out the bedding, thinking it would be fine to muddle through.

”Give me the mattress, and you take the blanket?”

Tan Shaoting laughed, ”I don’t have a problem with not sleeping. Besides, I’m not cold, you can try practicing your skills.”

Su Yuanyuan also knew that practicing wouldn’t make her cold, but she wasn’t used to it and still preferred to sleep.

The next day, the two arrived at the enamel factory at nine o’clock and found Huang Mingjie.

This person was truly efficient. He gave them an identity and released 120 enamel basins, along with three tea trays and fifty tea mugs.

The tea trays here went for a dollar and five dimes, and the tea mugs were seven dimes.

Su Yuanyuan paid the money in the accounting office, and the two of them went to load the cart.

Huang Mingjie personally escorted them out of the factory.

”Mr. Huang, here’s 44 dollars.”

Huang Mingjie declined the money. ”You two, I’d like ten strips of meat like yesterday’s.”

Su Yuanyuan laughed; this guy was really shrewd.

”Sure, I’ll wait here while he goes over to get the meat for you.”

Tan Shaoting glanced at Su Yuanyuan, pulled the cart away, walked a long distance, and then put everything away and took out ten strips of meat. He hurried back.

”Mr. Huang, here are ten strips of meat. This basket is a gift for you too.”

Su Yuanyuan and Huang Mingjie were chatting. He worked in the supply and marketing department and went everywhere, so he was quite knowledgeable about outside affairs. Therefore, Su Yuanyuan asked a lot about the economic situation in neighboring cities.

Huang Mingjie took the basket, slinging it on his back, ”Young comrade, if you have more good stuff like this, I can take hundreds of pounds for two bucks each.”

Su Yuanyuan shook her head with a smile, ”There really isn’t much left. But if there’s more good stuff in the future, I’ll definitely come to Mr. Huang.”

”Alright, you know my address now, if there’s anything, you can come to me.”

Tan Shaoting took the cart from Su Yuanyuan’s hands, and the two left.

When they got to a place with no one around, Tan Shaoting put away the cart, and they both breathed a sigh of relief, really afraid of being caught.

”Let’s go find someone at the steel mill, it’s better not to show up.” Su Yuanyuan thought it’d be better to stay calm.

”Actually, this guy surnamed Huang is alright. Why don’t you just go to him directly.”

”Should we keep cooperating with him?” Su Yuanyuan wasn’t sure.

”He’s someone who’s okay as long as there’s profit.”

”Alright, you go find him, I’ll wait at the place yesterday, let him come over after noon. The price is 2.5 per piece, give him 200 pieces, and we’ll go to the next place with the rest.”

”Alright, I’ll go find him.”

Su Yuanyuan put away the two carts that Tan Shaoting had taken out, and they split up.

Once again, Tan Shaoting arrived at the enamel factory, and Huang Mingjie had just returned to the factory, thinking about how he made another ten bucks off those ten meat strips. This buying and selling was certainly an easy way to make money.

Hearing someone was looking for him, he went out and saw Tan Shaoting, feeling a bit expectant inside.

”Mr. Huang, there are fish weighing between three to five catties, at 2.5 each, do you want them? Of course, the size ratio is the same.”

A smile broke out on Huang Mingjie’s face, thinking even if it’s a three-pound fish, he could sell it for 2.5, and if it was larger, it’d be profitable.

”Comrade, how many are there?”

”Two hundred pieces.”

”I’ll take them, all of them.”

”Then meet us at noon at the hill outside the city, bring money and a cart. Initially, we intended them for the steel factory over there. But thinking Mr. Huang is quite capable, we’ll cooperate once more.”

”Sounds good, I’ll take a leave to prepare. But can we meet after ten at night, so it’s safer for me to bring them in?”

Tan Shaoting nodded, ”Sure.”

Tan Shaoting left the city to find Su Yuanyuan. Indeed, Huang Mingjie hurried back to take his leave.

Two hundred fish would at least weigh six to seven hundred pounds. He’d also have to borrow a cart.

At 2.5 a piece, that’d need 500 bucks. But he could at least make a hundred bucks.

Thinking of this, Huang Mingjie felt invigorated.

The two didn’t enter the city, just rested there.

For lunch, they still ate roast meat, which Tan Shaoting was particularly fond of.

In the afternoon, Su Yuanyuan had Tan Shaoting set up a tent, and they squeezed in for a nap.

Luckily, the tent was earth-colored, and unless you looked closely, you wouldn’t notice it at all.

The tent was small, so Tan Shaoting just sat and practiced, while Su Yuanyuan slept in her sleeping bag.

Being with Tan Shaoting was convenient; no matter what she took out, he wouldn’t ask questions. They were in perfect sync not caring about such things.

It wasn’t until dark that Su Yuanyuan woke up. ”You take a nap, I’ll keep track of time.”

”No need. You had a good sleep?”

Su Yuanyuan nodded with a smile, ”Yeah, it was quite comfortable.” The sleeping bag was made from advanced insulating materials, even though she lay where a fire used to be, it was really good.

At night, they ate eight-treasure porridge, with Su Yuanyuan eating the sweet kind, while Tan Shaoting just drank it, and also ate two tea eggs and two salted duck eggs.

”These salted duck eggs are really good.” Tan Shaoting found them particularly tasty.

”Right? I raised the ducks myself. I also have goose eggs, do you want one?”

Tan Shaoting smiled and shook his head, ”Next time, I’m full already.”

At nine o’clock, they packed up the tent. Su Yuanyuan had Tan Shaoting pack it up, ”I still have one more, let’s each keep one by our side.”

Tan Shaoting didn’t refuse, thinking internally that if he had the chance to advance, he’d definitely make a Luminous House for Su Yuanyuan, which would be more convenient. He could still practice Artifact Refining, but for now, there was nothing he could do.

The two took out the two carts. Out of the 200 fish, 70 were three pounds, and the rest were four or five pounds.

Before ten, they saw the light of flashlights.

Huang Mingjie saw the two of them. His first look was at the fish on the cart.

The three of them greeted simply and began loading the fish onto the wagon.

Not a single fish more or less than 200. Huang Mingjie took out the money, ”Here’s 500 bucks. Thank you both for your trust.”

Su Yuanyuan took it, counted it once, and then put it away.

Huang Mingjie drove off, and none of them set a next meeting. Mainly, Huang Mingjie thought they’d surely reach out for cooperation again next time.

”Should we rest here or go to the train station?”

”Let’s head to the train station; if there’s a train, we’ll leave.”

The two were lucky. At the train station, they managed to buy tickets, and an hour later, they were lying on the sleeper berths.

Su Yuanyuan felt uncomfortable all over, so she went out. She tried pushing a few doors and finally found an empty and unlocked compartment.

After entering, Su Yuanyuan went into the space. She took a hot shower there, finally feeling comfortable?

Gazing at the enamel and cloth in the corner of the space, she smiled.

The next city was the provincial capital, where there’d be many wealthy people. If she could exchange for some goldfish, that’d be great. Yellowfish still held its value best, even after many years, it’d be a great fortune.
