The Genius Evolution Store

Everyone couldn’t help but turn to Auric when he first entered, since he was the only one who wore a mask. However, they soon noticed the burning mark that still stood out, realizing the reason why he wore a mask.

They soon looked away, either no longer caring about it or being disgusted by it.

Nevertheless, the strategy worked as it was intended. No one paid attention to him anymore.

Auric just walked to a spot far away from the other participants.

A few minutes later, an old man entered. ”Good morning, everyone. Forty-eight people will be taking the test to become gold-grade evolution masters today. How far you wish to go will depend on your skill.

”I’m not here to give a long speech. Rather, I’m here to tell you about the first exam. This test will last for two hours. There will be thirty questions about the materials and five questions regarding related treatments. If you finish early, you may turn in your paper early since I’ll grade it directly.

”If you want to take the second test early, you will need to turn in your paper in an hour or so. The next test will be held twice, at 10:30 and 11:30 before we get a lunch break.”

One more old man and an old lady entered the room, taking the seats next to the lead examiner of the writing exam.

”Before we begin, does anyone have any questions?” The old man raised his head. ”No? Let’s begin then.”

He distributed the papers.

Auric checked the questions. The thirty questions about the materials weren’t difficult for Auric. He filled in the answers quickly.

When he checked the questions about the treatment, Auric had no choice but to stop for a moment, thinking about the questions.

Auric carefully crafted his own answers, since the test had given him the freedom to answer in his own words.

The last time he took the test, he stood out for being the first one to finish. So, Auric decided to slow down and waited for the others to finish.

However, as the time to take the next exam approached, Auric decided to finish first, not because he wanted to stand out but because he wanted to take the next exam as quickly as possible so that fewer people would take the second test with him.

After all, the second part was about sensitivity, which was his specialty. He might end up revealing his true identity.

Hence, Auric ended up becoming the first person to turn in his test again.

The diamond-grade evolution masters looked a bit surprised. They first scanned Auric’s multiple-choice answers. Since there was nothing wrong with them, they checked the essay.

The evolution masters looked at each other as if they were a bit confused.

They were fixated on one question in particular.

In the end, the lead examiner asked the old lady next to him to handle the rest of the examination.

”Follow me.” The old lady waved her hand, bringing Auric to the room next door. She then looked at the paper. ”In your test sheet, for the question, ’What will you do if the patient suffers from Magical Energy Endema?’”

”Your answer is to use the Extreme Bridge Management to single out the Endema and flush out the magical energy by using a material or your own magical power before proceeding with the evolution.

”Why would you do that? You can just proceed with the evolution and use the excess energy from the evolution to flush out the Endema.”

Auric explained, ”Endema is a condition where magical energy gets stuck in one’s body, usually from either eating the wrong material or getting hit by a beast.

”While it’s true that I can flush out the energy by using the excess energy from the evolution, there are cases where such a treatment would be ineffective.

”For example, if the energy is stuck outside the system, such as on the surface of our skin, or if the energy is similar to the person’s energy. If we proceed like this, there will be a need for additional treatment after the evolution.

”As you already know, the stronger the person or beast who inflicted that energy is, the more resilient the energy will be.

”So, rather than letting them undergo more treatment, it’s better to get rid of the problem from the start.”

The diamond-grade evolution master said, ”But it will cost more in most cases.”

”Not exactly. If we think about it, getting rid of the cause from the beginning will allow the patient to evolve without our assistance. Besides, it will also reassure the patient more. We don’t have to do anything extra after the treatment.”

”There is also a case where their element percentage drops below 100% after the treatment.”

”I believe we already know the cause of it now, after the creation of the gathering techniques. Sometimes, this kind of energy doesn’t just come from herbs and beasts. There’s also a chance that it’s the result of bad accumulation from our techniques.”

”Yes. So...?”

”So, we use the Extreme Bridge Management. The biggest advantage of the Extreme Bridge Management is that we can seal off a specific area. As an evolution master, we should be able to accurately measure the amount of energy in their body, or we can ask the patient to help us monitor their energy levels. In any case, the moment it reaches 100%, we will isolate that energy and let the residual energy formed during the treatment flow out of the patient’s body.”

The old lady fell silent for a moment before saying, ”Okay. I understand your answers now. With the authority given to me, I will give you this special mark.”

The old lady put a star next to his grade, indicating that he received a special recommendation from the examiner.

”I shouldn’t take up any more of your time. Hurry and go to the next test. There should be people outside who will guide you to the second site.”

”Thank you very much.” Auric politely nodded and exited the room. The old lady returned to the main room and shared the answers with them, and the other two found them intriguing. The three of them ended up whispering to each other for a while.

On the other hand, the staff had been waiting outside, ready to bring the participants to the next site.

One of them politely greeted him and guided him. Because it took him some time to finish in the other room, a few people seemed to have finished the exams as well.

Auric submitted his test paper.

He found it quite surprising to see a star on the test paper.

Auric was given a new paper, but this time, the staff actually put a green sticker on it as well.

Auric didn’t understand what it meant, so he just continued with the test as if nothing had happened.

The evolution master in charge of the test took his position. ”Well, I see that there are seven of you here.”

”Okay, this is good enough.” The evolution master turned to the fifty people sitting on the opposite side of the room. ”There are a total of 74 people, who are the subjects of your test. Some of you want to go directly to three stars, while others only want to get their badge.

”In any case, your job is to accurately measure the energy of 50 of these people. In your test paper, you are required to write down their element percentage, the rating of their element, and whether they have an underlying condition.

”Once you’re done...” The evolution master pointed to another spot. ”There are 50 materials over there. You also need to write down the same information for each of them. I will make sure that no cheating is allowed in this test. Anyone who is found to cheat will be disqualified immediately, and I will give you a disciplinary charge.

”If you don’t have any questions, I will ask each volunteer to show you their energy one by one. Each of them will only show you their energy for fifteen seconds at a time. Are you ready?”

None of them raised their hands, so the evolution master signaled to the volunteers to begin.

Auric had no problems with this. In fact, he could already see everything before they even released their energy.

But to avoid people thinking he was cheating, he waited for them to show their energy before writing down his answer.

With his eyes, Auric accurately assessed all 74 people and all 50 materials. He even gave all the assessments regarding the patients’ conditions.

It was hard to detect the patients’ underlying conditions from the energy alone. After all, the released energy would camouflage the underlying conditions. Unless one possessed a high degree of sensitivity, they would have a hard time detecting them.

Hence, the test considered it a bonus point rather than a required point.

Once he checked the papers, the examiner couldn’t help but feel surprised by Auric’s assessment.

”This...” The examiner raised his eyebrows. ”He answered everything? Is his sensitivity that good, or is he cheating?”

The examiner fell silent for a moment and checked his name again before realizing something.

’Ah, this. Isn’t this the person the chief mentioned? I see. No wonder. Well, the chief might have told us to keep quiet about it, but he didn’t tell us to give him any special treatment. But these answers... they’re just too exceptional. I guess we will find out whether this is his true skill, or whether he is cheating in the remaining tests.’

He gave Auric another green label, showing his approval.

The examiner stood up. ”Congratulations, six of you passed. Michael Turner, please stay here. The rest of you, receive your papers and head to the next site. They should allow you to proceed with the test before lunch.”

”What?!” The person whose name had just been called looked shocked, but there was nothing he could do.

Auric and the other five people received their papers as the staff guided them to the next site.

Auric found multiple strange tools and obstacles there.

”Welcome.” The evolution master in charge of the test stepped forward and began explaining. ”This part is divided into three tests. If you take a look to the side, you will see the crystal you’re very familiar with.

”You will have to untangle the problem as quickly as possible.

”After you pass, you may move on to the second test, which is this obstacle course. The walls are made of sensitive materials, so we will be able to measure how much energy ends up hitting them. The objective is simple. You need to fully control your energy and reach the other side without hitting the walls.

”The last test is to shape your energy into forms that match the images shown on the screen.

”If you want to pass this stage, you need to finish the first test in less than ten seconds, complete the second test without reaching 1,000 points on the wall, and manage to form eight out of ten shapes on the third one. It’s pretty simple, isn’t it?

”Let’s get it done. I will need your papers now.”

All of them handed over their papers, but the examiner noticed the two green labels on Auric’s paper.

’Hmm? Auric Elfe? Isn’t this the one Chief Lucas mentioned earlier? Two green labels? Did the two examiners before me end up succumbing to Chief Lucas’s pressure, so that they not only passed him but also gave him the green marks?’ The examiner frowned.

’I’m not like the other examiners. If you’re going to fail, then you’re going to fail. I’m not succumbing to any pressure...’

The examiner took a quick glance at Auric, knowing that Auric was the black-haired man who was covering his face with a mask.

’You think it will be that easy to pass here? We’ll see whether you pass or not. Even if you pass, you won’t be able to get a green mark from me.

’After all, I originally required anyone who wanted to receive a green mark from me to finish the first test in less than three seconds, get less than 100 points on the second test, and form all shapes in the last test.

’It will be impossible for a mere 17-year-old kid to do it. I will teach you the real world, kid.’
