The Genius Evolution Store

”What’s wrong?” Vera asked, spreading her hands. She was also clueless about what was going on. Only Auric knew what happened last night in the group.

”You...” Supervisor Jacob walked over to them while asking, ”Did you just come out of the building?”

”Yeah? Is there something wrong?” Vera tilted her head in confusion.

”Where were you last night?” Supervisor Jacob asked.

”In that building, sleeping,” Vera answered innocently.

”What? Sleeping? What do you mean? Hold on. What’s going on?” Supervisor Jacob was dumbfounded. ”That building was supposed to have no one inside. It had been cleared out.”

”Huh? We were sleeping there? What do you mean by cleared? Sorry, but you don’t make any sense, Supervisor Jacob.” Vera shook her head. ”Did something happen last night?”

Supervisor Jacob felt like something was missing in their conversation. ”Yes, something did happen last night. The instructors were supposed to open the door and capture you guys. Did you not even hear the alarm?”

”What alarm? What capture? We were sleeping soundly. Maybe you left our room alone on purpose? Did you forget about our room?” Vera was completely oblivious.

Ellia and Katarina just looked at each other. Somehow their minds clicked, realizing what had happened.

They didn’t know what the instructors were doing, but they knew Auric had something to do with it.

This was especially obvious with Auric, who was supposed to look clueless, was the calmest one among them. In addition, Auric was supposed to be studying last night, so he should be the only one who was still awake when all this happened.

”You brat. You must have done something, right?” Maya seemed to have realized the same thing after seeing Auric’s calmness.

When Maya said those words, everyone’s gaze shifted to Auric.

”I was being accused of tipping you off, you know?” Maya crossed her arms. Of course, she was just playing around. Even if Auric smeared her reputation, it didn’t really matter to her since she knew Auric well enough to know what kind of person he was.

Auric just shrugged. ”Baseless accusation.”

He could answer with another lie, such as claiming that she had tipped him off. He could also play dumb, but he decided not to further degrade her reputation.

”You... did something.” Supervisor Jacob exclaimed. ”What exactly did you do?”

”What? Am I supposed to answer that question?” Auric asked. ”You guys were standing for a couple of minutes in front of our door, while erasing your presence. You expected me not to do anything?”

This statement confirmed that Auric had indeed done something.

”What did you do?” Supervisor Jacob asked again.

”I don’t have any obligation to answer that question.”

”Answer his question. Supervisor Jacob is asking!” An instructor demanded.

Auric just looked at the instructor dumbfoundedly.

”What? Are you going to force an answer out of me? If I reveal my card like that, then please tell me about Project 99 or a top-secret operation that the military has conducted in exchange.” Auric shrugged.

”You brats! Watch your mouths!” Some people who had connections to the military couldn’t contain themselves.

”Hahaha. He’s not wrong, though.” Maya chuckled. ”Don’t use your incompetence to force him to reveal his cards. That’s embarrassing, you know?”

”Maya Relesha! Don’t enable him! He’s being rude to the supervisor!”

”I am not. You are rude to me for asking that question.” Auric shrugged.

”You—!” The instructor gritted his teeth.

Mr. Green couldn’t help but laugh. ”Hahaha. I can’t help but agree with this kid right now.”

”Mr. Green!”

”I mean, we were fooled. I am not so shameless to not admit that. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, the next thing you know, you’ve been fooled by a 17-year-old kid. Hahaha. This is why life is never boring.” Mr. Green chuckled.

”But—”

”Enough!” Supervisor Jacob raised his voice. He facepalmed and sighed. He thought he had won against Auric during the test because he had managed to stop him from ruining the national selection.

However, he didn’t expect to lose to him this time. If this argument continued, half of the instructors might end up hating Auric before the Europe Training Program.

That was why he let out a long sigh, realizing why Auric was loved and hated at the same time.

Those who adored Auric’s talent would find him pleasing. Those who had to face those talents would end up feeling annoyed.

He finally understood how frustrating Auric could be for those people.

Supervisor Jacob looked at all of them and said, ”That’s enough. There’s no point in arguing. We should start the training again! Students, you have fifteen minutes to return to your rooms and change your clothes. We’ll begin training after that! Go!”

Auric and the others were ready, so they were the only ones who didn’t need to return.

Katarina whispered, ”Auric, if you make them your enemies, we have to worry about getting backstabbed as well, you know?”

”I haven’t done anything wrong.” Auric shrugged.

”So, you really did something?” Vera gasped. ”You could actually fool all those people?”

”Do you think this is the first time I’ve had to escape a dangerous situation? A lot of people wanted to kill me, so I had to do what I needed to do.” Auric rolled his eyes.

”That’s...” Vera looked down, feeling embarrassed for even asking. ”Sorry and thanks. Without you, we wouldn’t have had a good night’s sleep.”

On the other hand, some instructors had calmed down and finally realized their mistakes. They started feeling bad.

Auric was a genius. In addition, his appearance was probably the best among the younger generation.

Hence, he might get targeted due to his ordinary background. To survive, he developed a few cards.

Now that they had calmed down, they realized how ridiculous it was to demand that answer from Auric.

They had truly wronged Auric this time.

Still, some of them just couldn’t tolerate Auric’s behavior because he had no respect for his elders.

Auric simply followed his principles. Since the other party didn’t show any respect to him, he would show them no respect as well.

He couldn’t care less whether they were going to hate him or not. If they wanted to kill him, Auric would remember their names and make sure to take his revenge, even if he had to wait a few years.

...

A moment later.

Auric had arrived in front of a big boulder. The rest of his team as well as another group were with him as they received a lesson from one of the instructors.

As planned, Auric picked Madam Shelly, even though she was one of the instructors who couldn’t tolerate Auric’s attitude.

Madam Shelly, with a grim expression, explained, ”You may think that battle techniques improve your power. However, that’s not entirely correct. Before the battle techniques, there is basic control.

”Without a proper foundation, you won’t be able to unleash the full power of your battle technique. Take a look at this.”

Madam Shelly stood in front of the boulder and placed her hand on the stone. She released a small amount of energy before she made a light push. In that instant, the energy erupted and caused a massive crack in the boulder.

”!!!” The students couldn’t help but widen their eyes in shock. Auric was even more shocked because he was watching how she moved her energy within her body.

It was even more sophisticated than the technique Lindwurm had taught him.

”As you can see, I didn’t push hard or use much strength. I just unleashed my energy. That’s basic control. If you’re able to improve your foundation, your limit will increase as well.

”You can also apply this to your movement technique and other things. Let’s take movement techniques as an example. By maintaining an output or unleashing a sudden explosive burst, you will have more stable movement techniques. If you apply that control to your battle technique, your strength will improve drastically.

”In the end, if you want to create a battle technique, you need good basic control. However, people underestimate basic control too much and learn them half-heartedly.

”You will understand why some battle techniques are more powerful than others. It’s basically because the person who created it has a much more solid foundation.

”That’s why it’s necessary for you to improve your basic control.”

Auric understood the lesson. Even he underestimated basic control. He was too fixated on the techniques Lindwurm had taught him, as well as on the advantage of having multiple elements.

While it wasn’t entirely wrong, he was missing this lesson.

’It looks like I have to improve my basic controls. It will be fine, right?’ Auric asked Lindwurm.

”Yeah. It’s definitely good for you. I don’t know much about this.”

’You don’t know?’

”Well, most of my knowledge is from your father, you know? Do you think your father or I am a wikipedia or something?” Lindwurm rolled his eyes.

Madam Shelly continued, ”For this lesson, I’m going to teach you three things. First, to do this. I need you to crack this rock with the same amount of power.”

Madam Shelly pointed to the boulder. Of course, this kind of energy release was one of the requirements of the test.

However, Madam Shelly’s test was two or even three times harder than the original test.

The amount of energy wasn’t even that huge, so the attacks wouldn’t pack too much punch. The reason she could crack that boulder was simply her control.

”Then, we will also improve your movement technique. Speed, stability, or anything.

”Last but not least, we will also improve your armor. Think of the magical energy as an extension of your body. Most people are unable to do so because they think magical energy is a foreign energy that enters their body.

”If you’re able to use the energy as a part of your body...” Madam Shelly raised his hand and lightly bumped her fist toward the tree in the opposite direction.

The gentle impact actually crushed the trunk as if a wrecking ball had just struck it. The tree fell down without any resistance.

”Like this. That will be your assignment for today. Leave behind a crack in this stone, improve your movement technique, and apply that power to your body.”

Auric felt a bit excited about this assignment. After all, he had learned something precious this time. He didn’t care about the other party’s attitude as long as he could learn something useful. Just from observing her energy alone, he had already drawn the path to unleash his energy.

If he followed her energy path, he might be able to exert the same amount of power. No, with his eyes, he might be able to improve it further.

Auric was excited because this lesson would be extremely beneficial for yesterday’s lesson.

However, Madam Shelly suddenly smirked and glared at Auric. ”Well, doesn’t our genius here want to demonstrate to everyone how to do it?”
