THE GOD EATER

With a snort of derision, she said, ”If you think I can deceive you, myself, and the world, then you have overestimated my capabilities. I wish I were, but I am not that capable. If I were so strong, I wouldn’t be in this backward place slumming it with you lot and fighting over scraps.”

While the four of them were bickering and pointing fingers at one of them, Green Fire and the other two were confused.

Green Fire couldn’t take it anymore and asked, saying, ”What is going on here?”

But no one answered her question. The four of them were too busy arguing, and Black Chains was too busy trying to keep his mouth and mind shut.

On the ground, Loki went forward to catch the red mountain in his hands. After he caught it, he set it down onto the ground gently. As soon as the red mountain touched the ground, it began to burn it.

Loki ignored the burning ground and said to his curious audience, ”Let that be a sign of my willingness to cooperate. I made a deal with Lord Heavenly Eye to help her kill at least two of his avatars. I fulfilled my part of the deal, so I was paid for my work.”

”Now I have more opportunities for us to work together. I have with me here the Luck Supreme Metac, Death Supreme Metac, Money Supreme Metac, Forging Supreme Metac, and the Mind Hunter Supreme Metac.”

”I also have the enslavement avatar belonging to Lord Black Chains, the killing avatar of Lord Sword Maestro, and the giant barbarian avatar of Lord Martial Will. I will be auctioning them in exchange for divine crystals and a promise of protection.”

”If you like what I am selling, say out loud how many years’ worth of divine crystals and how many years of protection you have to offer me if I become a Dao Lord. If you’re not interested, forget about it.”

”If you have any questions, please ask now.”

A grand voice came from the sky, saying, ”Are you really selling everything, or is this a joke?”

He said in reply, ”This is not a joke. I swear on my Dao Heart that I am selling these things, and when I advance, I will give them to whoever offers the highest after they give me what they offer.”

When Tepid Scholar heard the reply to his question, he turned to Heavenly Eye and said, ”I find it hard to believe that this dragon has nothing to do with you.”

”What do you mean?” she asked with a glare.

Solemnly, Tepid Scholar replied, ”I mean that he is too shrewd and slippery. With this scheme that he has set up, it will be very difficult to kill him when he becomes a Dao Lord. Not only will we not be able to gang up on him, but we also have to hope that he successfully advances.”

In response, Heavenly Eye snorted and said, ”I’ll take that as a compliment.”

Meanwhile, Loki was saying, ”Any more questions?”

”When you say protection, what exactly do you mean?” Sword Maestro asked.

After doing some thinking, he said, ”When you agree to protect me for a duration of time, you don’t need to stay with me during that period of time. But you must do three things for me.”

Raising a finger to the sky, he said, ”The first thing I expect of you is not to attack me during that period of time. Unless I attack you, you’re not allowed to attack me or join others in attacking me.”

He raised a second finger and said, ”Secondly, during that period of time, if you hear about some people planning to attack me, you must tell me. You must give me every helpful piece of information you have about my enemy, and you mustn’t lie about the pieces of information or the possible attack.”

”Thirdly,” he said as he raised a third finger to join the other two. ”If I call you to help me during that period of time, you must try your best to help me.”

”I could ask for resources. If you have it, you must lend it to me. I could ask that you come and physically protect me by fending off my enemies. You must do so as long as it is within your power.”

Finally, he said, ”As long as you do all of these during the period of protection and give me the divine crystal, I will give you the resources you bid for now.”

Having heard his explanation, Sword Maestro said, ”I see. Your explanation is clear. But I still have a problem with it.”

Loki smiled as he said, ”What problem could the esteemed lord have with my conditions?”

”It is too much,” Sword Maestro said in reply.

Martial Will also said, ”It is too cumbersome and bothersome. We are not your servants. Just take our divine crystals and give us what we purchase.”

Immobile Mountain joined in, saying, ”We are very busy people. We can’t be asked to chaperone you about just because you have something to sell.”

More and more Dao Lords spoke to complain about his demands. Sometimes they spoke up one after the other, but most of the time, at least two of them spoke to him at the same time.

And they didn’t stop after speaking once. They complained again and again, taking turns to put up a united front and pressure him.

But Loki refused to bend. He was still smiling as he said, ”Unfortunately, I can’t change my request. Even more unfortunate is the fact that I can truly ask you to do whatever I want.”

”I am not forcing you,” he said with a smile. ”You might not know mw, but i don’t force anyone to do anything. I’m not like that. If you find my terms too unreasonable, you can refuse to partake in the auction. That is always a possibility and i welcome you to consider it.”
