THE GOD EATER

After he positioned himself at the edge of the city, he created several large wolves to stand around the city to form a city wall. This arrangement was to make sure that the position of the golden divine being relative to him and the wolves would be constant, no matter where the divine being appears.

This time, the vessels of Fenrir behaved themselves because he could control all of them directly and perfectly, just like he could control Metacs perfectly. This is another benefit of his Cave Heaven. So he was able to make them lie in wait without any trouble.

After making his preparations, he finally gave the vessels permission to attack. This served as the spark that threw the city into chaos.

As shouts ran out in the city beneath him, he waited in silence. He didn’t bother to look in a certain direction, as where the golden divine being would appear is random. He could only heighten his senses and wait patiently.

While he was waiting, time ticked by slowly. Seconds turned into a minute, and a minute turned into several minutes. Not a lot of time had gone by, but it all felt like an eternity to him.

He felt as if the world had slowed down around him until time was moving at a crawl. This feeling didn’t end until he heard a crashing sound as if glass was breaking.

He had heard this particular sound many times before, so he knew that it was the sound space made when it was being torn. So as soon as he heard that sound, his head snapped in the direction of the sound.

He thought that time was slow before, but he was wrong. As he attacked the golden divine being, time seemed to move even slower until it neared the point of being frozen.

But this was only an illusion. Time was still moving normally.

Just as he turned his head to look at the source of the crashing sound, he had already projected the power of devouring from his Cave Heaven towards the direction of the sound. All of the vessels of Fenrir down below were also doing the same thing.

So the black blanket had reached the golden divine being and covered them just as his eyes fell on the golden body. As soon as his eyes fell on the golden divine being, he saw their Cave Heaven appear to resist the black blanket. He immediately marked the Cave Heaven.

He was delighted when his mark actually landed on the Cave Heaven. But he didn’t let this distract him from doing what he planned. He didn’t waste any time before he executed both of his solutions simultaneously.

On the other side, the golden divine being hadn’t even stepped out of the tear in space when he was attacked. He was only halfway out when he saw a black force surging towards him, so he didn’t hesitate to step back and escape.

As a man who had just escaped a dangerous situation and was already with one foot through the doorway of death because of his dwindling lifespan, his first instinct when something was wrong was to run. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t run because the black force succeeded in submerging him.

Now that this force has bound him, if he is to escape, he has to fight his way out. But before he could make a move, his mind slowed down.

He had the Insight Stat, so he knew what was happening to himself. He could tell that a powerful mental power had invaded his Cave Heaven, entered the core of the Cave Heaven, and was freezing his Life Fire.

He could resist this mental power, of course. But it will cost him some lifespan to do so.

With how precarious his situation was, he didn’t think twice about resisting this mental power. He didn’t hesitate at all to consume some lifespan to resist.

Unfortunately for him, just as he was resisting the mental power, something latched onto his Life Fire and was extracting his lifespan. Whatever was extracting his lifespan was also doing so at the rate of 1 year of lifespan per second.

Thanks to his Insight Stat, he could tell exactly what was going on with him. But even with everything so clear, he was still stunned and confused.

However, despite this double combo, he was still able to resist the mental power. He was also able to use his Divine Metac to break away. But this was all he could do.

By the time he realized how bad the situation was, he could only say, “What is going…”

He couldn’t complete that question because he ran out of lifespan. His Life Fire went out, and he died.

What should happen next is that his Cave Heaven fades away. But the black surging force still had his Cave Heaven in a death grip. And his Divine Metac had also been captured.

Everything that happened had happened over a span of two seconds. When it was over, Loki was still tense and on tenterhooks.

It wasn’t until he saw the Cave Heaven fly over to his Cave Heaven and was swallowed up that he realized that the fight was truly over. As the Divine Position appeared, he finally let himself relax.

He exhaled heavily and said, “I finally did it. If it was this difficult for me, even though the divine being was so weak, how can any rank 5 cultivator fight a divine being?”

Unfortunately, he couldn’t dwell on that question for long because the Divine Position required his attention.

The Divine Position hadn’t gone with the Cave Heaven. It had separated and begun its upward journey into the sky. It was the Cave Heaven that was being devoured by Fenrir.

The assimilation of the Cave Heaven of the golden divine being increased the size of his Cave Heaven. But he didn’t pay attention to that at all. He knew that he was running out of time, so he separated the Gold Body Metac and activated it.

As soon as he activated the Gold Body Metac, the Divine Position responded.
