Chapter 260: Chapter 172: Discussion at the Forensic Autopsy Center (Part 3)

Moreover, with this ultra-microscopic observational ability paired with his extensive forensic expertise, it really gives him wings to soar.

Thinking of this, Li Hongbing glanced at Jiang An again.

It was as if he was witnessing a rising star in the police force.

The path of criminal investigation and case-solving for Jiang An is bound to become increasingly glorious.

At this moment, Jiang An handed the glass bottle he was holding to Zhang Yean.

He turned around and picked up a mouth opener.

Bending over, he used the stainless steel tool in his hand to successfully expand the deceased woman’s oral cavity.

Because the body was frozen, the mouth was closed shut.

Jiang An exerted great effort to pry open the upper and lower jaws.

Seeing Jiang An’s somewhat ”rough” actions, Li Hongbing, Mr. Zhao, and others were a bit surprised.

After fully exposing the mouth, Jiang An turned and asked, ”Mr. Zhao, does your lab have a strong light source?”

”Yes! One moment!”

One minute later, Mr. Zhao brought a black powerful flashlight.

He asked, ”Where should I shine it?”

At this point, Jiang An, holding two tweezers, said, ”Shine it into the deceased’s mouth!”

Mr. Zhao adjusted the flashlight’s beam direction, illuminating the interior of the mouth.

Instantly, the inner walls of the mouth were clearly visible, with five remaining teeth appearing sparse.

Jiang An bent over, focusing intently, staring at the inside of the mouth.

Zhang Yean curiously asked, ”What are you looking for?”

Li Hongbing raised a hand to point at the bottle in Zhang Yean’s hand.

”Fibers!”

Two minutes later, Jiang An turned and said, ”Wan, could you prepare another glass bottle for me?”

”Sure!”

”Senior sister, please pick up the camera and take pictures to document!”

Zhang Yean handed the glass bottle in her hand to Li Hongbing, adjusted the lens, and aimed it into the mouth to take pictures.

This time, Zhang Yean quickly found the white fibers between the teeth gaps.

Subsequently, Jiang An slowly stood upright, gingerly placing two white fibers into the bottle.

Wan capped the glass bottle, gave a thumbs up, ”Impressive, my brother! I admire you!”

Li Hongbing smiled with satisfaction.

He raised a hand to pat Jiang An’s shoulder, ”Brother Jiang, good job!”

Jiang An grinned and looked down at the transparent glass bottle.

”The white fibers are very fine and curly, I suspect they came from a towel.”

”A towel?”

....

Suddenly, the other four people stopped in their tracks.

A moment later, Mr. Zhao speculated, ”Mr. Jiang, are you suggesting that the deceased’s mouth was blocked at some point?”

Jiang An nodded.

”This is only my suspicion for now. It would be best to conduct a microscopic trace material test to determine the composition of these white fibers.”

Li Hongbing said, ”No problem! I’ll arrange for someone to test it immediately.”

Then he asked, ”Mr. Jiang, regarding the cause of death of this female victim, do you want to examine it further? Is it possible that she died from suffocation?”

Jiang An said solemnly, ”No need!”

”I saw that the forensic examination photos in your case file are very clear, the female victim’s cause of death is intracranial hemorrhage caused by blunt force trauma.”

Then he lowered his head and looked at the deceased’s mouth.

”I just took a careful look at the deceased’s nasal cavity, there are no fibers at all.”

”Therefore, both nasal cavities of the deceased should not have been blocked.”

”From the structural characteristics of the human body, simply blocking the mouth would not cause suffocation.”

Mr. Zhao said, ”That’s professional!”

Li Jian nodded after listening.

Then he said, ”If the perpetrator used the towel to block the mouth, it wasn’t to kill her, it must have been to prevent her from screaming.”

Jiang An nodded and said, ”I agree with Mr. Li’s point of view.”

”I believe that before the female victim died, someone possibly blocked her mouth to prevent her from calling for help.”

”The key is, why did the perpetrator do this?”

Then Jiang An turned to ask, ”Mr. Zhao, does the female victim’s lower body have any masculine substances detected?”

Mr. Zhao shook his head, ”After specialized reagent testing, no male components were found.”

Zhang Yean tilted her head, deep in thought, muttering to herself, ”If the murderer wasn’t trying to assault, then what was the reason for blocking the mouth?”

Instantly, the only sound in the forensic autopsy room was the roar of the extractor fan.

Everyone looked serious, lost in thought.

A moment later, Jiang An said somberly, ”Could it be for searching for valuables?”

”Searching for valuables?”

In an instant, everyone’s thoughts concentrated on this aspect.

However, there was still a look of confusion on the others’ faces.

Jiang An explained analytically, ”The stolen valuables at the death scene were very scattered, without any pattern, and were hidden.”

”If the deceased didn’t voluntarily disclose the location, the murderer couldn’t have found it.”

”So, I believe the reason this female victim’s mouth was blocked might very likely be to force her to reveal the location of valuables.”

After Jiang An’s opinion was expressed, the others nodded in agreement.

Li Hongbing said, ”I think what Jiang An said makes a lot of sense.”

”I went to see the original scene; things were arranged messily. If the deceased didn’t specify the location, the murderer would have found it very difficult to accurately steal the money.”

After thinking for a while, Zhang Yean suddenly asked, ”If this female victim was coerced into identifying the location of the valuables, why were her feet so clean?”

Wan looked puzzled, ”That’s right! She didn’t wear her slippers and could only walk barefoot, yet her soles are very clean.”

At the same time, Mr. Zhao also looked at Jiang An confusedly.

After thinking for a moment, Jiang An said solemnly, ”I have a bold hypothesis in my mind now.”

”The murderer might not be alone!”

”Not alone?”

Zhang Yean, Wan, and Mr. Zhao were instantly stunned.

Regarding the number of perpetrators, the early special investigation team initially determined that the murderer was likely one person based on the force disparity between the two elderly victims.

Now, Jiang An actually suggested there are two perpetrators.

Li Hongbing asked, ”Mr. Jiang, please explain in detail.”

Then, Jiang An said, ”Mr Li, based on the dust on the female victim’s soles and the position of her slippers, we can basically infer she didn’t move around extensively indoors.”

”However, the deceased’s home is quite large, and there are three places where the valuables were lost, distributed far apart.”

”If the female victim personally pointed out the location of valuables for them, it obviously contradicts the cleanliness of her soles.”

”Therefore, I believe the female victim was likely on the bed, her mouth blocked, and under coercion, revealed the location of the money.”

”I just observed the female victim’s wrists carefully and didn’t see any binding marks.”

”Moreover, given the size of the deceased’s home, if there was only one murderer, obviously the control of the scene wouldn’t be strong enough.”

”In this scenario, having to watch over the female victim while searching for valuables, one person couldn’t complete it.”

”Of course, if there was only one murderer, he might have coerced the female victim out of bed to find the valuables directly, which would be safer.”

”Therefore, from a criminal psychology perspective, the fact that the murderer could leave control of the victim to search for valuables sufficiently indicates there was more than one murderer.”

”Otherwise, the female victim would have had the chance to escape by running on the ground, but from the mark on her feet, we can see that the female victim did not run away.”

”Therefore, from a control ability perspective, I think the likelihood of there being two murderers is great.”

”Also, based on my earlier analysis, the person who struck the female victim in the head is very likely left-handed.”

”And the male victim’s mandible fracture is on the right side, the striker should be facing forwards and punching with the right hand, which from this angle suggests he was right-handed.”

”So, analyzing from the injury locations of the two victims, I believe the two murderers are very likely to have different dominant hands.”

After Jiang An’s detailed explanation, Li Hongbing nodded.

”Makes sense!”

”Based on my own criminal investigation experience, analyzed from a criminal psychology perspective, the process of crime by the perpetrators would certainly weigh the pros and cons.”

”In this case, since the murderer stuffed a towel into the female victim’s mouth, it is evident they are concerned about exposure.”

After a slight pause, Li Hongbing said, ”After Jiang An’s analysis, I think the motive of the perpetrators is also clear, which is to acquire money, not to retaliate and kill.”

At that moment, Mr. Zhao’s phone rang.

”Hello!”

”Mr. Zhao, the fingerprint fuming reagent you arranged has been purchased.”

”Great, thank you for your hard work!”

After hanging up the phone, Mr. Zhao said, ”Mr Li, the fingerprint fuming reagent has been purchased, we can proceed with the experiment.”

Zhang Yean hurriedly said, ”You guys are really fast, I’ll start testing the fingerprints on the courtyard gate as soon as I get back to the lab.”

At this moment, Jiang An glanced at the corpse on the autopsy table, murmuring to himself, ”The striking tool used by the murderer came from the victim’s home.”

”Could they be so confident in committing the crime, not concerned about anyone else being in the house?”

Instantly, everyone plunged into thought once again.
