The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 257: Chapter 171: Jiang An’s Deduction

As soon as he finished speaking, Mr. Zhao clenched his fists and made the motion of striking his own jawbone.

Suddenly, Mr. Zhao said, ”I once studied combat skills at the police academy. Punching the jawbone can indeed dislocate it, and the skin may not show any damage.”

Jiang An lowered his head to examine the victim’s jawbone.

”Although there’s no visible skin damage, bone damage can still be distinguished.”

”The connections between the mandible and maxilla are already dislocated; the killer must’ve used considerable force.”

After a long silence, Jiang An continued, ”That’s why there are so many scratch marks on the walls at the crime scene left by the victim.”

”But the neighbors didn’t hear any obvious calls for help.”

”All because the male victim’s jawbone dislocation made it difficult to open his mouth, preventing him from speaking normally.”

Hearing Jiang An’s explanation, Li Hongbing and Mr. Zhao suddenly realized.

They both had questions in their minds at the death scene.

If the victim had a strong will to survive, then why didn’t he shout loudly?

Now, the two of them finally resolved the doubts in their minds.

Because the male victim couldn’t shout after being injured.

Next, Jiang An turned and picked up the Willow Leaf Blade, making an incision along the edge of the victim’s right mandible, then used tweezers to separate the skin tissue, fully exposing the victim’s jawbone.

The whole process seemed like flowing clouds and water, completed in one go.

It was as swift as sealing a throat with a sword in a martial arts novel.

After exposing the victim’s skin, Jiang An lowered his head to take a closer look.

”Mr. Li, Mr. Zhao, take a look.”

”Although there are only three small red dots visible on the victim’s jaw skin, there’s a bone fracture mark in the middle of this jawbone.”

”A fracture?”

Mr. Zhao asked excitedly, ”Since there’s already a fracture, it fully demonstrates the punching force was significant.”

Zhang Yean curiously said, ”If the killer punched the jawbone causing it to crack, then the back of the killer’s hand should also be fractured.”

Suddenly, Mr. Zhao’s eyes lit up, and he said, ”Zhang Yean, you’re right!”

”If we find the killer, this could be an important characteristic for identifying the suspect.”

Li Hongbing also nodded, ”Perhaps this can serve as a crucial basis for suspect identification.”

Suddenly, a smile blossomed on Zhang Yean’s face, filled with pride.

She felt like a heroine, capable of thinking like Jiang An.

But this sense of pride lasted less than a minute before Jiang An poured cold water on it.

Jiang An glanced at the fracture location.

”Sister inferred that the killer’s puncher might’ve sustained a hand fracture through the principle of physical interaction.”

”However, this victim has many peculiarities.”

”Elderly individuals suffer significant calcium loss, leading to osteoporosis.”

”Especially with the male victim being over 70 years old, the bone density is noticeably reduced.”

”If the killer is a young person, their bone density would be much greater than this elderly male.”

”Therefore, a fracture might not appear on the killer’s hand, at most leading to bruising.”

Suddenly, Zhang Yean felt deflated like a punctured balloon.

She had just found a highly useful piece of evidence, recognized by everyone.

Unexpectedly, it was negated by Jiang An.

In an instant, she felt a bit dejected.

Then, Jiang An said in a deep voice, ”We might not find fracture marks on the suspect.”

”However, the damage to this specific area still indicates certain issues.”

With Jiang An’s reminder, Deputy Director Li Hongbing instantly understood.

He said, ”You mean the attacker’s boxing technique?”

Jiang An nodded, ”This method of striking the jawbone is not used by the average person, unless the suspect has undergone professional martial arts combat training.”

”I think this can be a critical factor in our next suspect identification step.”

After pondering for a while, Mr. Zhao agreed with Jiang An’s viewpoint.

Having studied boxing combat at the police academy, he was familiar with this special punching technique.

After discussing the jaw dislocation, Jiang An lifted the male victim’s arms for a closer look.

”There are no signs of binding on the arms or wrists.”

Jiang An said, ”The male victim was not completely restrained.”

As soon as he said this, another question came to Jiang An’s mind.

If the male victim wasn’t restrained, why didn’t he resist forcefully?

In an instant, the entire layout of the crime scene emerged in Jiang An’s mind.

He vaguely remembered a chopping board in the living room with three knives on it.

Moreover, there was a hatchet near where the victim fell.

There were many available tools at the scene, so why didn’t this elderly male resist?

Thinking of this, Jiang An suddenly felt that something was inconsistent with typical crime scene characteristics, implying there were many unexplained aspects.

After checking the wrists, Li Hongbing softly asked, ”Mr. Jiang, should we cut open the stitches to examine the chest and abdomen?”

Jiang An said, ”No need!”

”Your pathologists have done a comprehensive job on the abdominal anatomy.”

Immediately, Jiang An said, ”Next, let’s examine the other female corpse.”

He then went to another dissection table and unzipped the body bag.

Once the body was fully exposed, bloodstains could still be seen on the female victim’s head.

However, a five-centimeter long linear laceration was visible on the right scalp.

Due to the significant tension of the human scalp, after a violent pull, the linear wound appeared deformed, even spindle-shaped.

This time, Jiang An focused on key areas during the examination.

He wanted to explore the location of the female victim at the time of the incident and whether she was active.

Why was she in a different position on the ground than the male victim?
