The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 250: Chapter 169: Three Key Lines of Inquiry

”However, through the scene investigation, we found several places with very obvious signs of being disturbed.”

”Therefore, from this perspective, we can deduce that the elderly couple’s money was likely kept in the wardrobe, nightstand, and travel suitcase under the bed.”

Jiang An listened and asked, ”Are the signs of disturbance obvious in other places?”

Mr. Zhao shook his head, ”I recall that during the investigation, other places didn’t seem to show signs of disturbance.”

After a moment of contemplation, Jiang An said, ”The central scene is within three tile-roofed houses in the countryside.”

”Earlier, I saw that the indoor items were extremely chaotic.”

”In such an environment, trying to precisely locate the valuables is probably not something an ordinary person can do.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the entire venue began chattering and discussing.

Mr. Zhao said, ”We also noticed the situation of the stolen valuables.”

”According to our previous discussion, we deduced that the murderer may have used instruments to force the elderly to hand over their valuables, in which case, obvious signs of disturbance wouldn’t appear.”

Li Hongbing also turned and whispered, ”At the time, we thought it could be an insider job, but after checking everyone around the village, we haven’t found any suspects.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An nodded without commenting.

As always, Jiang An held to the principle that...

Every crime scene has trace evidence, which is the most objective clue.

Investigation interview records, especially testimony, might have significant flaws or even mistakes.

Although, Jiang An’s mind was quickly processing, he said solemnly, ”Whether it’s the first or second possibility, it’s highly likely that crucial trace evidence can be left behind.”

Now, Jiang An was deeply thinking.

After a brief pause, Jiang An concluded, ”I think the location where the valuables were stolen deserves our focused attention.”

While Jiang An spoke, some people in attendance began nodding unconsciously.

Especially the detectives who previously disregarded Jiang An now held a much higher impression of him.

Following a brief pause, Jiang An said solemnly, ”Next, I’ll articulate the third area we need to focus on.”

”I think the distribution of lividity on the two bodies is peculiar.”

”Oh.”

”The distribution of lividity?”

Instantly, everyone’s attention shifted to the projector screen.

Then Jiang An turned and said, ”Mr. Zhao, please find the folder with the forensic photographs of the bodies and open the autopsy photos of the two deceased.”

”Alright! Please wait a moment.”

Originally, Mr. Zhao harbored doubts and disbelief regarding Jiang An’s personal abilities.

However, Jiang An pointed out two aspects that indeed were peculiar, aspects none had addressed in the preliminary case discussions.

Quickly!

Mr. Zhao found the photos of the two deceased on the autopsy table.

Jiang An glanced up at the photographs and asked solemnly, ”I wonder if anyone has noticed that the lividity on the two deceased is quite peculiar.”

”Lividity?”

”Lividity?”

.....

Instantly, everyone turned to the projector.

On the white screen, images of an elderly couple without clothes were displayed.

The pale skin clearly showed the lividity distributed on the back.

Jiang An analyzed and said, ”Upon first entering the scene, the male deceased was on his left side, and the female deceased was prone.”

”Based on the pattern of lividity formation, lividity generally appears in areas of the body not subjected to pressure.”

”If we analyze the body positions of the two deceased, the male deceased’s lividity should be on the left side, and the female deceased’s lividity should be on the frontal side.”

”However, we see that on the stainless steel autopsy table, the lividity on both deceased is located on the back.”

”Isn’t that strange?”

With Jiang An’s prompting, everyone’s attention quickly focused entirely on the lividity.

After pondering for a while, Li Hongbing whispered, ”Mr. Jiang, you are a forensic expert, I’m an outsider, but I have a thought.”

Jiang An turned, ”Mr. Li, please go ahead.”

”During the initial scene investigation, I was directing at the scene.”

”I recall that the body transport worker from the forensic autopsy center placed the two deceased flat on the transport vehicle with their faces upwards.”

”So, I wonder if this position during transport could lead to the lividity forming on the backs of the deceased?”

After Li Hongbing, deputy director, finished speaking, attendees nodded, expressing agreement.

When the body is lying supine, forming lividity on the back is most suitable.

This conforms to many cases of death!

Jiang An turned to look at Li Hongbing.

He smiled and said, ”Mr. Li, you said earlier you’re an outsider, modestly indeed!”

”Your understanding of lividity is very apt.”

”However, there are some peculiar aspects to this case.”

”Oh?”

”Please, Mr. Jiang, elaborate.”

Not only Li Hongbing, but others in attendance also took interest.

Scanning the attendees, each face was filled with confusion.

He said solemnly, ”Earlier, I flipped through the case file and found the forensic examination records and scene investigation notebook.”

”I remember the start time for the forensic examination was 10:00 AM on June 18.”

”Detailed notes in the scene investigation notebook record the investigation time as 9:20 AM on June 18.”

”From the timing, the bodies were certainly transported to the forensic autopsy center after 9:20.”

”Even if we analyze according to the largest interval, the scene investigators arrived at the crime scene and immediately had the transport vehicle take the bodies away.”
