Chapter 214: Chapter 155: The Two Victims Bear Some Resemblance (6K)

The female victim’s skull was not missing, but rather existed in another form.

Immediately, the group began to sift through dust particles in other areas.

After two hours, they had already sifted out hundreds of skull fragments.

They even found the victim’s teeth.

However, in the conditions on site, the once white teeth had become filthy.

After sifting through the final pile of dust, Jiang An squatted down and looked at the skull fragments in the evidence box.

Li Jian asked, ”Jiang An, can you piece it together into a complete skull?”

Jiang An carefully examined it, nodded, and said, ”Theoretically, it should be possible, but the piecing together process will take a bit of time.”

At this point, Zhang Yean suddenly asked, ”If you can piece together the original appearance of the victim’s skull, you can fully use skull reconstruction technology to find the victim’s identity.”

Both Li Jian and Chen He nodded in agreement.

Li Jian thought of the previous White Bone case where Jiang An accurately restored the facial appearance using skull reconstruction technology.

He looked at Jiang An with great anticipation.

”The identity of this victim is a very big issue before us.”

”If you can restore the victim’s appearance through skull reconstruction technology, it would greatly aid the investigation; at least we would know who she is.”

”Mr. Chen, rest assured, I will do my utmost. Even if I can’t completely piece it together, it should reach over 90% accuracy.”

Chen He walked over and patted Jiang An’s shoulder.

”Mr. Jiang always comes up with the most effective methods and solves the most pressing issues at crucial moments in case investigations.”

For a moment, everyone looked towards Jiang An.

A moment later, the group left the bedroom and went outside.

Jiang An suddenly said, ”Mr. Li, I have a small suggestion and a thought.”

Mr. Li turned his head to look at Jiang An and said, ”Jiang An, there’s no need to be so formal and polite.”

”In the future, just speak your mind when you have any thoughts or suggestions.”

Jiang An turned to look at the building behind him, ”Although the fire site is on the second floor, I want to patrol around the building and see if I can find ways the suspect might have entered the site.”

Li Jian pondered for a moment.

”Do you mean the killer might have climbed to the second floor?”

Jiang An nodded, ”We cannot rule out this possibility.”

”Moreover, in my view, this was not a murder followed by suicide.”

”I am more inclined to believe that both individuals were murdered simultaneously, but one died before the arson and the other after.”

Li Jian did not give his own opinion or view.

He simply said, ”Alright then!”

”We’ll accompany you for a forensic examination around the site to see if we can find any leads.”

Subsequently, Li Jian, Chen He, Jiang An, and others began their forensic examination around the building.

After a moment, Jiang An suddenly stopped.

A trampled mark on the lawn caught his attention.

Jiang An stopped and stared closely at the lawn in front of him.

Looking around, the trampled marks on the lawn were continuous.

From these trampled marks, it entirely matches the process of someone stepping repeatedly.

Why would there be continuous trampling marks in this place?

Following the trampled marks, one can see climbing marks on the outer wall edge.

Moreover, right above the climbing marks, there is a window.

After some contemplation, Jiang An analyzed and said, ”These climbing traces are very fresh.”

”Based on my living experience, I suspect they were made last night.”

Wan looked surprised.

”Formed last night?”

”Do you mean these are marks left by the suspect when entering the scene?”

Jiang An nodded.

Suddenly, Jiang An’s gaze focused on the wall next to the trampled marks.

At a position parallel to the trampling marks, there was a very distinct longitudinal scratch mark.

Moreover, the scratch mark was very fine, as if a sharp object rapidly scraped along the outer wall from below.

Jiang An reached out and touched the scratch, and he could feel a depression with his fingertip.

Following Jiang An’s gaze, Zhang Yean curiously looked over.

”How strange?”

”Why is there a clear scratch mark next to these trampling marks?”

Chen He also said, ”Even if the killer used a ladder, it shouldn’t leave continuous scratch marks, right?”

While everyone was puzzled, Jiang An spoke deeply, ”The scratch mark is very deep, forming a continuous trail from below.”

”I suspect it’s formed during the process of the suspect dragging an object.”

”Dragging an object?”

”The suspect would carry tools for the crime, why would there be objects being dragged?”

This left everyone even more puzzled.

Jiang An continued to explain, ”In this fire scene, the killer used a gasoline accelerant.”

”The tools used to contain the gasoline are often metal barrels.”

Then Jiang An said, ”Is it possible this place is where the barrel containing gasoline was dragged?”

”I think some gasoline barrels have rough welding on the edges, with noticeable protrusions in parts.”

Chen He thought for a moment and said, ”I think what Jiang An said makes a lot of sense.”

”Before, when I was in the countryside, I’d occasionally use iron barrels to fill gasoline.”

”I remember seeing some protrusions on the metal edge of the gasoline barrel; once, it even cut my hand.”

Li Jian looked closely, ”You mean this is a mark left by the movement of a gasoline barrel?”

”At this point, I think it’s a strong match.”

”Also, the scratch mark’s direction is from below, moving fast.”
