The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 210: Chapter 154: Jiang An’s Dissenting Opinion

Even though Li Jian spoke with confidence, he was still anxious inside.

The idea of a high-temperature cranial explosion sounds like a fantasy.

If not for Jiang An’s outstanding performance in several previous cases.

Li Jian would surely think it was like shooting a sci-fi movie.

After a slight pause, Li Jian asked, ”Is the autopsy on this body complete?”

Jiang An glanced at the corpse and said, ”The causes of death for these two bodies can be basically determined. The male died from burning in the fire, and the female died from mechanical asphyxiation due to neck compression.”

”Most of the bodies are already skeletal, the muscle and nerve tissues have disappeared.”

”Therefore, there’s very little left for us to examine.”

”Now we can’t determine if there were blunt force injuries or sharp instrument cut marks on the skin or muscles.”

Zhang Yean looked at the female victim on the dissection table and said, ”The female victim’s lower body cannot be examined anymore.”

”Otherwise, we could have extracted her lower body secretions to see if there were male components.”

Mr. Ma nodded to show understanding.

”The bodies in the fire scene are unrecognizable and heavily damaged, which indeed poses a huge challenge for us in investigation and case handling.”

”However, identifying the cause of death of the deceased from the limited chest tissue by Jiang An is already commendable.”

Then, Jiang An proceeded to examine the deceased’s ribs again.

After a moment, he said, ”Mr. Ma, Mr. Li, this male has four rib fractures.”

”Rib fractures?”

Li Jian immediately tensed up.

Having worked in criminal investigation for so many years, he deeply understands.

He always first relates any injury on the deceased to their death.

At that moment, Mr. Ma, Zhang Yean, and Wan also looked toward Jiang An.

Jiang An’s gaze was firm, as he pointed to the positions of the four ribs and said in a deep voice, ”The fractures of these four ribs are mainly concentrated beside the sternum.”

Zhang Yean has always been eager to learn.

She curiously asked, ”Were these fractures formed in the fire?”

Wan also speculated, ”Junior Sister, they may not have formed in the fire, I think it’s very possible that he was struck by someone before the fire.”

Li Jian and Mr. Ma both remained silent, simply glancing at Jiang An.

Jiang An said in a deep voice, ”For these four rib fractures, personally, both possibilities mentioned by Junior Sister and Senior Brother could exist.”

”I remember during the initial scene investigation, part of a wall had fallen from the ceiling above the body.”

”If this body burned in the fire and only the skeleton remained after the skin and muscle tissue were gone.”

”Then, when subjected to a violent impact, the local bones might fracture.”

”Moreover, the fracture locations are mainly distributed beside the sternum, consistent with a single violent action.”

Upon hearing ”single violent action,” Li Jian suddenly asked, ”Is it possible that the fracture was caused by someone kicking the deceased before he died?”

Jiang An pondered for a while, then replied, ”Mr. Li, that situation is possible.”

Then, he looked down at the deceased’s ribs.

”Unfortunately, the muscle and skin of this deceased’s rib are missing.”

”If the corpse still had skin and muscle, I think we could discern and judge.”

”Is there a way to judge now?” Mr. Ma asked in a deep voice.

Jiang An looked at the ribs again, deep in thought.

After a moment, he replied, ”Mr. Ma, the fracture ends of the ribs go from outside to inside, meaning the force direction was also from outside to inside.”

Finally, Jiang An said, ”I can determine that this fracture was caused by a localized strike.”

”However, whether it was formed by someone kicking or by a heavy object striking?”

”At present, I cannot make an accurate judgment.”

Mr. Ma is also a veteran investigator, who has frequently worked with forensic experts over the years.

It is indeed difficult to determine the nature of rib fractures in this burned body.

He nodded slightly and said, ”No problem.”

Li Jian also echoed, ”Exactly!”

”If just by looking at a bone, one could determine how the impact was made, that wouldn’t be a forensic expert, but a mage.”

Originally, Li Jian intended to give Jiang An an out.

However, Jiang An completely ignored the gazes of those around him and continued to think quickly.

Suddenly, his gaze fixed on the fracture end of the second rib on the deceased’s left side.

This rib fracture end was different from the cross-section of the other three rib fracture ends.

Then, Jiang An picked up the broken rib.

He focused his attention, eyes fixed on the fracture end.

Seeing Jiang An’s concentration, the four others instantly realized he must have discovered something.

Li Jian walked over quickly and asked, ”What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with this rib?”

Jiang An nodded.

”Mr. Li, this rib is very different from the fracture ends of the other ribs.”

Li Jian’s gaze swept across the fracture end.

He observed for a while, ”What’s the difference?”

Hearing this, Mr. Ma hurriedly moved closer.

It seemed like, at that moment, he was back in his days as a detective leader.

Jiang An said in a deep voice, ”Compared with the other three rib fracture ends, the burning degree on the fracture surface of this rib is more evident.”

”What do you mean?”

”What do you mean?”

Zhang Yuan and Wan also hurriedly asked.

Jiang An looked at Mr. Ma and Li Jian.

He said, ”My point is, this rib had already fractured by the time the fire started.”
