Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 648: Top Experts Of The Planet

The seven figures continued following from a careful distance.

Grey kept walking casually, leading them through winding streets and narrow alleys. Eterna moved beside him, her expression calm despite the surveillance.

Eventually, they arrived at an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city.

Grey stopped in the middle of the empty space and turned around.

”So, were you guys following us?”

Seven people emerged from the shadows.

The first was a tall man with a jagged scar running down his left cheek, a massive axe resting on his shoulder. His muscles bulged beneath a black vest.

The second was a woman with bright red hair tied in a high ponytail, twin pistols holstered at her hips. Her eyes were sharp and focused.

The third was a lanky young man with messy silver hair and round glasses, clutching a sword that seemed too big for his frame.

The fourth was a burly older man with a thick beard and cybernetic arm, carrying what looked like an energy cannon.

The remaining three were generic soldiers in matching black uniforms, armed with standard rifles.

”Are you both Levitation awakeners?” the scarred man demanded. ”Did you just awaken recently?”

”Where are you both from?” the red-haired woman added. ”We have no data on either of you in our systems.”

Grey stroked his chin thoughtfully upon hearing their words.

In the end, he still chose to reply.

”We’re from the Kunlun Mountains,” he said. ”We came here to train and look around the world.”

The Kunlun Mountains was one of the many myths that existed on this Earth as well.

The silver-haired young man pushed up his glasses with a confused expression.

”The Kunlun Mountains? That place is fake! It’s just a myth from old legends.”

”I’ve never heard of awakeners coming from there,” the bearded man growled. ”What are you trying to pull? Are you playing with us?”

”Maybe we are trying to play with you guys.” Grey shrugged casually. ”But what does that have to do with anything? We’re allowed to do whatever we want.”

He waved his hand dismissively.

”Now back away and let us pass.”

The scarred man’s face twisted with anger.

”Do you know who you’re dealing with?” he snarled. ”We are the top experts of this planet! You should know better than to mess with us!”

All seven of them unleashed their auras simultaneously.

Grey’s eyebrows rose slightly.

So there were indeed supernatural beings in this world who knew about their powers.

The scarred man’s body began glowing with a faint orange light, heat radiating from his skin.

The red-haired woman’s pistols crackled with sparks of electricity.

The silver-haired youth’s sword hummed with a pale white energy.

The bearded man’s cybernetic arm whirred as it charged up.

”Last chance to surrender peacefully,” the scarred man warned.

Grey just smiled.

”Eterna, want to handle this?”

”Okay.”

The scarred man moved first, hurling a small fireball directly at Grey’s face.

Grey tilted his head slightly, letting the flames pass harmlessly by his ear. The fireball was weak, barely warehouse-level in terms of destructive power.

The red-haired woman fired both pistols, sending crackling sparks of electricity toward them.

Grey caught the energy bolts in his palm and crushed them like paper.

The silver-haired youth charged forward with his glowing sword, slashing downward with all his might.

Grey blocked the strike with two fingers.

The blade stopped completely, unable to move even a millimeter.

”What?!” the youth gasped in disbelief.

Grey flicked his wrist and sent the young man flying backward into a pile of old crates.

The bearded man fired his energy cannon, a beam of condensed light shooting toward Eterna.

Eterna raised her hand.

A technological construct materialized from thin air, a sleek cannon that hadn’t existed a moment before.

She was using Reality Bending, obviously.

She then fired the cannon without hesitation.

WHRMM!

A pulse of energy swept through the warehouse, washing over all seven attackers simultaneously.

Every single one of them collapsed to their knees.

”What... what did you do to us?” the scarred man wheezed.

His aura had completely vanished. The heat radiating from his body was gone.

The red-haired woman tried to summon electricity to her pistols, but nothing happened.

”My powers...” she whispered in horror. ”They’re gone!”

”You have no idea who you are dealing with. Immediately unseal our powers!” the silver-haired youth shouted desperately. ”Don’t you dare mess with the Gaia organization!”

Grey walked forward and knelt down before the scarred man.

”What is the Gaia organization? Tell me and I might let you go.”

The scarred man glared at him with defiant eyes.

”Over my dead body! I will never reveal anything to you!”

Grey sighed at his stubbornness.

”You know, I really don’t want to hurt anyone here. We’re just passing through.”

Before things could escalate further, darkness suddenly swirled around them.

Shadows gathered and condensed into a solid form.

A small child stepped out of the darkness.

She looked no older than ten, with short black hair and eyes that held no emotion whatsoever. Her face was completely blank, as if nothing in the world could move her.

”I apologize greatly to the two beings from the Information Layer level,” the child said with a small bow. ”Please come with me so we can talk properly about this place.”

Grey exchanged a glance with Eterna.

[Looks like this is the 10th Rank AI we saw in the Information Layer.]

[Yeah,] Eterna replied as she stared at the AI.

”We should go and check,” Eterna said.

Grey nodded.

”Alright, lead the way.”

The child turned and walked into the shadows, which parted before her like curtains.

Grey and Eterna followed without hesitation.

They traveled through what felt like a void of pure darkness before emerging into bright light.

Grey blinked and looked around.

They had arrived at a massive facility built into the side of a mountain.

The sign above the entrance read Dae City Headquarters.

The place was organized and well-maintained, with clean white corridors stretching in every direction. Cyborgs walked past them, their mechanical limbs clicking against the polished floors. Robots of various sizes moved about, carrying equipment and supplies.
