Chapter 640: A New Mode Of Power

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing the remains of the Buddha, you have gained insight into the Enlightened State!]

BOOM!

A direct link formed between Grey and the urn. Golden light erupted from both of them at the exact same time.

Every single person in the chamber reacted to the sudden blast of energy.

”Stop him!” Elder Tharos shouted immediately.

Lyris gritted her teeth seeing this.

”Everyone, please stop!” she cried out. ”The Elder will move away!”

She did not want to watch this old man die.

But the leaders were already moving.

Experts from every faction charged toward Grey. Their powers flared wildly as they prepared to strike him down.

”Grey, move!” The Fragment of the Heavenly Dao screamed in his mind.

The Finality within him also woke up, ready to protect its host.

But Grey’s vision started changing.

The world around him began distorting. He saw a gigantic Buddha statue materializing right before his eyes.

The statue’s features were serene yet infinitely powerful. It radiated an authority that went far beyond mortal understanding.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! Your Source has connected with the remnant essence of the Buddha that he left behind in the mortal world before ascending with Boundless State Power!]

[You have gained the ability: Buddha Mode!]

BOOM!

Golden lightning streaked across the entire Chaos Realm.

Boundless Buddha power erupted downward from the sky. It crashed into the chamber with a force that defied all logic.

The dark corruption and distortion throughout the realm cleared instantly. Dharmic power and Chaos power separated before being swallowed by the golden radiance.

Everyone who had been charging toward Grey was shot backward. Their bodies flung across the chamber like dry leaves in a storm.

They felt an overwhelming suppression pressing down on their bodies.

Lyris was the only one who remained standing.

She stared at Grey in complete shock.

”Elder?” she asked quietly.

”I will take it from here, Princess.”

Grey’s figure began morphing, and his voice visibly changed to sound much younger.

Golden radiance formed between him and the urn. The light then flowed directly into his chest.

His elderly disguise dissolved completely.

His wrinkled skin smoothed out. His white hair turned black as his supreme physique came back.

”What is that power?” Elder Tharos exclaimed from the floor.

Then his eyes widened even further.

”No way... This... He is eighteen?”

In the moment of transformation, Grey’s true age became visible to everyone present.

They all sensed it, and none of them could believe it.

The massive power he emanated did not match his age at all.

To even survive in this Chaos Realm, one needed to be at least at the ninth rank.

Yet this boy was here.

”It’s you!” Sovereign Kael suddenly shouted. Recognition flooded his face. ”The kid from the newly ascended universe that dared to touch the members of my Eternal Dominion!”

”Newly ascended universe?” Lyris stared at Grey with wide eyes. ”He is from the newly ascended universe?”

Grey smiled at them all.

”Greetings,” he said calmly. ”I am Grey Lockhart.”

”There are unfortunately no treasures here for you.” His eyes swept across the large chamber. ”You can all leave now.”

”This realm is my domain.”

Elder Tharos stepped forward. His expression darkened with anger.

”Kid, don’t make this difficult for us.” His voice carried the authority of the Higher Realm. ”Hand over the urn. We saw you absorb its power just now.”

”You cannot win against all of us.” He gestured at the assembled forces. ”You are just one man.”

”Is that right?” Grey’s smile widened.

”Then would you like to try?”

His voice glitched heavily. Multiple overlapping frequencies made the words bounce strangely through the chamber, making it sound like reality itself struggled to process his existence.

Everyone immediately took battle stances at his words.

Elder Tharos raised his hand high.

”Everyone, attack together!” he commanded. ”Those who help me here will have a guaranteed spot when we ascend back to the Higher Realm!”

Eyes lit up across the chamber at those words. They all wanted to go to the Higher Realm. There could never be a better treasure than reaching that place.

To kill one person, the reward was way too high to pass up.

They all charged at Grey with pure killing intent.

All except the Celestial Covenant and The Mind Collective. They seemed to have received some instructions which made them look at Grey with conflicted expressions.

Patriarch Aurelius looked at his daughter, who seemed attached to this strange young man.

He sighed helplessly.

The only logical thing to do now was keep her safe.

He broke a defensive artifact that he had placed inside her. It instantly teleported Lyris to his side, and thick protective barriers formed around her.

”Father!” Lyris struggled against the barriers. ”We have to help him!”

”We cannot,” Patriarch Aurelius said gently. ”But don’t worry, we are the Celestial Covenant. We can bring him back to life if needed.”

Lyris’s expression softened slightly at those words.

But deep concern still filled her eyes as she watched the experts converge on Grey.

Grey watched them come, his expression completely calm.

”All this effort for a treasure,” he said with a faint smile. ”Truly laughable.”

His eyes suddenly blazed with blinding golden light.

”But you can all die now.”

The instant his words fell, the world flashed black and white.

BOOM!

The boundless power of Buddha erupted across the entire realm.

Grey’s figure vanished from where he stood.

In the sky right above the chamber, a gigantic being materialized.

White hair flowed like clouds, and golden karmic eyes gazed down with infinite wisdom. A massive Buddha halo blazed brightly behind its head.

The remnant essence of the Buddha had evolved through its connection with Grey’s Source.

It had been brought back to life as an empty vessel. It now carried the true power of the Boundless Buddha.

Buddha Mode was a second clone. It was a manifestation of pure Dharmic authority that existed entirely separate from Grey’s main body.

For a split moment, the entire realm froze.

Everyone looked up in absolute shock.

The massive Buddha construct towered over everything. Its sheer presence alone crushed their will to fight.

”This power...” Elder Tharos’s face went completely white. ”Is it the Buddha?”

”Like I said.” Grey’s voice rang out across the entire Chaos Realm. ”You all are going to die here.”

The Buddha clone raised one massive hand.

Golden light quickly gathered in its palm. It formed a sphere of pure Dharmic power that grew larger and larger until it blotted out the sky.

Karmic Extinction!

Far away in another part of the Chaos Realm, Helios had not yet found their way to the stupa.

Joestar stood on the bridge of his Reality Ship, and his Star Mark was blinking at a rapid pace.

The Jade Emperor’s power within him stirred violently in response to the distant threat.

”What is that?” Isolde asked. Her face turned pale as she stared at the golden light consuming the horizon.

”Is that Grey Lockhart?” she asked in genuine disbelief.

”That is indeed the case,” Joestar said slowly.

The power he sensed was incredible.

It threatened to end this entire realm and everything within it in a single move.

Even further away, Alan’s Reality Ship came to a complete stop.

Alan and Alissa stood at the viewing window, their eyes fixed on the distant sky.

Golden light filled every single corner of their vision.

BOOM!

The Karmic Extinction fell and covered the entire world.

Such a large attack in a higher dimensional realm was impossible under normal circumstances.

Yet Grey’s power had enlarged enough to reach every corner of this reality.

The golden light swept across everything in its path.

Sovereign Kael screamed as the Dharmic power consumed him.

High Lord Vaeros disintegrated before he could even raise a basic defense.

The Devil’s Court and the Stellar Forge forces all vanished in the golden tide.

When the blinding light finally faded, only one person remained standing among the faction forces.

Elder Tharos.

The envoy from the Higher Realm had survived, but barely.

His robes were torn and his body was covered in deep burns.

He stared up at the Buddha clone with eyes filled with immense fear.

”Impossible. This power... it shouldn’t exist in the Lower Realm...”
