Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1926: Chapter 1920: Big Problem

”Didn’t you say you wanted to investigate? How’s it going?” An Hao had previously shared this idea with him, and Qin Jian had made a phone call, asking someone to help look into Gan Tian’s records.

”Her enlistment records and family background are all clearly documented. There’s no issue at all. Besides, Gu Shuangshuang also mentioned that she doesn’t have a twin sister,” An Hao said.

”That’s strange,” Qin Jian thought it was simply impossible, ”Unless she has a split personality.”

”I think so too.” After saying this, An Hao couldn’t help but chuckle, ”It’s incredible, what are we doing arguing with a mental patient?”

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, and then Qin Jian’s voice came again: ”I suggest... you find some time to go to Hexi Village with Tian Niu again, ask Gan Tian’s parents or those villagers if there’s truly a twin sister.”

”I’ve already asked.” An Hao said dejectedly, ”Everyone consistently says there isn’t.”

”Then Gan Tian’s issue is significant,” Qin Jian said with a frown, ”Don’t worry, I can help you find out more information.”

”Hmm.” An Hao thought for a moment and said, ”I’ve been pondering for a long time, but I still don’t understand Gan Tian’s intention by doing this! To pressure Tian Niu into divorcing to marry her using such simple means, even if he marries her, she won’t be happy.”

”Do you think that’s not that girl’s style, right?”

”Right.” An Hao said almost surely, ”I think Gan Tian might be a spy.”

”Leave this matter to me; I’ll inquire for you.” He’s now undergoing training at the Command Academy and has met quite a few new comrades, whom he can ask for information.

”Alright. I’m waiting for your good news.”

”Hmm. It’s getting late, you should go to bed early! In a few months, I’ll be back! By then, we can be together forever!”

”Hmm. I’m looking forward to your swift return.”

........................

Things took an unexpected turn.

Early off work the next day, An Hao wandered the streets and ran into Lin Miao.

”Sister-in-law, what a coincidence.” Lin Miao, as usual, saw An Hao and greeted her with a grin.

”Why are you alone today? Where’s Gan Tian?” An Hao asked as if she didn’t know.

The topic was indeed awkward, and Lin Miao was immediately embarrassed: ”Sister-in-law, don’t you know about this? I feel quite ashamed to say, I didn’t expect such a thing to happen between Gan Tian and Captain Tian.”

”Did Gan Tian tell you?” An Hao frowned.

”Hmm. The two of us have always talked about everything this way,” Lin Miao said.

”So, she approached Tian Niu with a calculated intention, right?” An Hao’s question suddenly turned sharp.

Lin Miao paused, not knowing how to answer.

But her expression already gave An Hao an answer: ”I knew it was like this.”

”No. You’ve misunderstood her. She did like Captain Tian, but after finding out he had a wife, she buried those feelings deep inside. She didn’t want to break up someone’s family,” Lin Miao hurriedly explained for Gan Tian.

”What about now? What do you think is going on between her and Tian Niu?” An Hao’s questions came one after another, very directly, leaving Lin Miao momentarily breathless.

”Honestly, I’m also quite surprised.”

Lin Miao paused and said, ”This isn’t Gan Tian’s style.”
