Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1901: Chapter 1902 Important Matters

This past month, Tian Niu hasn’t received any news about Gu Shuangshuang and the child.

He called home, but no one answered, so he called his mother-in-law, yet he didn’t dare explain the current situation.

He was afraid his mother-in-law might get angry and rush over, and then even if he had ten heads, they wouldn’t be enough for her to vent her anger on.

In the end, in desperation, he called An Hao, who told him that Gu Shuangshuang had taken the child to look for him.

According to the time provided by An Hao, Shuangshuang should have set out a month ago, but he hadn’t seen any trace of Gu Shuangshuang in the past month.

An Hao told him that the mother and daughter might have found a family in the village to stay with first. Once they figured out his schedule, they might come to see him.

Tian Niu was anxious, worried that something might have happened to Gu Shuangshuang and the child, so he took advantage of the three-hour break on the weekend to rush out from the army and search in Hexi Village.

This time he came across the market again, browsing from one end of the street to the other, looking for signs of Gu Shuangshuang and her daughter.

Unexpectedly, he didn’t see Gu Shuangshuang and her daughter but ran into Gan Tian again.

”Tian Niu.” Hong Mei stood up eagerly waving at him once she saw his figure, ”I’ve been waiting for you for so long, finally, I see you again.”

This time Tian Niu had even less time to chat with Hong Mei: ”Gan Tian, I don’t have time to talk today, I have something urgent to handle.”

”What’s going on?” Gan Tian asked.

”Your sister-in-law and Nannan have come looking for me. They were here a month ago, but I only found out just now. It’s been so long without any news from them, I’m really worried something might have happened to them,” Tian Niu said.

”I’ve seen them, they are staying in the village and they seem to be doing well,” Hong Mei said without hesitation.

Actually, she had noticed the presence of Gu Shuangshuang and her daughter long ago, but she is Hong Mei, not Gan Tian, and had no interest in visiting them.

So she deliberately ignored them.

She just wants to get close to Tian Niu to gather information, everything else can be ignored.

”Really?” Tian Niu was overjoyed, ”That’s great, quickly take me to see them.”

Hong Mei nodded in agreement, realizing this was the only way she could get close to Tian Niu.

As they walked along, Hong Mei racked her brains to get information from Tian Niu: ”You and your wife have been separated for so long, I see that your sister-in-law is very anxious. I wonder when your mission will end, I feel sorry for both of you.”

”Probably two or three years more.” Tian Niu sighed deeply, unconsciously revealing an important number.

”Two or three years? That long!” Hong Mei exclaimed in surprise.

”Yes,” after he said it, Tian Niu realized he might have said something he shouldn’t have, quickly trying to cover it up, ”Actually, I don’t know, I was just guessing! Every day here feels like a year. I can’t wait to fly back to have my wife by my side.”

”What exactly is the mission you are carrying out?” Hong Mei followed up.

”No, no mission,” Tian Niu scratched his head and said, ”Actually, we don’t know anything about missions. We just do whatever the leaders tell us to do.”
