Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 140: Chapter 139: The Adolescent Yang Erdan

At night, she lay beside An Shuchao and listened to his snoring but couldn’t fall asleep.

It’s said that women are like wolves at thirty and like tigers at forty.

She had reached that wolf and tiger age, yet ever since Old An’s leg was broken, there was no more intimacy between the two of them. Besides, Old An was older than her, and often seemed somewhat lacking in vigor, which left Bai Xue mei feeling dissatisfied.

Thinking about what happened with Li Wangfu in the Persimmon Tree Forest during the day, she felt an itch inside her, and found it hard to fall asleep for a while.

She didn’t know how much time passed before she finally drifted off into a fitful sleep, but she felt incredibly cold in the middle of the night and wrapped the blanket tighter around herself.

When day broke, she didn’t get up. It was only when An Shuchao urged her to rise that he realized she was burning up.

Bai Xue mei had a fever.

The scare that An Hao had given her the day before, plus the whole day of nervous torment, and catching a chill after bathing at night—this was why she fell ill.

After she had been feverish for three days, a young girl from the village who worked at the clothing factory returned to grab some clothes to change into and learned of the situation, and then she told Bai Yanjiao.

That very afternoon, Bai Yanjiao took leave from the factory, shouldered a small bag, and started walking home from the town.

Shortly after leaving the town, she ran into Yang Erdan from the same village, who was driving an ox cart to town to buy fertilizer and was just preparing to return.

”Erdan, are you headed back to the village?” Bai Yanjiao asked, standing by the roadside and tilting her head.

”Yeah, what’s it to you?” Erdan’s mother, Yang Yonghua, had a feud with the An Family. An Hao had caused a big scene at the Yang household last time and even slapped Erdan twice, which left Erdan holding a grudge to this day.

Seeing Bai Yanjiao obviously made him uncomfortable.

”So... could you give me a lift back?” It was a twenty-mile walk from the town to their home, which would take two hours, and she didn’t want to walk at all.

”Not my problem! Walk yourself!” Erdan gave Bai Yanjiao a stern look, watching her blushing face and the occasional waft of perfume from her body, emanating the scent of a mature woman all over.

The girl had grown up, and she didn’t look half bad.

It was just a shame that she was one of the An Family, which made him angry.

”Why are you being like this?” Bai Yanjiao pouted and scolded him, ”I know you’re upset, but you need to get it straight, it was An Hao who provoked you, not me. Her last name is An, and mine is Bai. We have different surnames. What’s more, I have issues with An Hao too! Don’t you know that the enemy of my enemy is my friend?”

Erdan thought it over and indeed, it made sense. So he stopped the ox cart and gestured for Bai Yanjiao to come aboard, ”Get on then.”

On the way, Bai Yanjiao and Yang Erdan did nothing but speak ill of An Hao, which actually made Erdan feel quite pleased.

The ox cart lumbered into the village after an hour, and Bai Yanjiao hopped off and waved goodbye to Erdan, ”Thanks! I’m off first!”

Bai Yanjiao turned and walked away, and Erdan watched her slender silhouette, swallowing hard.

He too had entered adolescence, a season brimming with hormones.

Everyone knows what adolescence means, it’s a restless time, especially concerning matters between men and women.

Walking along, Erdan pondered. He took a fancy to Bai Yanjiao.

She wasn’t very lean, but rather voluptuous.

Such a woman would be easy to feed and good for bearing children, it was just a shame that the girl wouldn’t even give him a second glance.

When Bai Yanjiao arrived home, she went straight to the north room to check on Bai Xue mei, who was dozing, her face flushed with fever. Bai Yanjiao immediately felt a pang of heartache.

”Mom, what’s wrong with you? You rarely get sick, how come you fell ill as soon as I left? Did An Hao bully you?”
