Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 125: Chapter 123 Capturing Her Heart Early

”I won’t! I absolutely refuse! Don’t bother about my marriage yet, you’d better worry about Big Brother’s instead!”

”You don’t have a say in this. This matter is up to me, and I’ll meet with Song Fei’s parents soon, to see what their family is like!” Li Junping thought this was a good match for her daughter and decided to settle it, not allowing her to continue her reckless behavior.

”Mom!!!!” Qin Feng stomped her foot in anger upon seeing Li Junping insisting on her way, ”I won’t marry him, if anyone, you marry him!”

Having said that, she ran out furiously.

”What nonsense are you spouting! Get back here!” Li Junping chased after her.

As soon as Qin Feng stepped outside, she saw Song Fei standing in the yard with a bunch of stuff, and just the sight of his face made her sick. Pointing at Song Fei’s nose, she cursed: ”You can forget about it, I will never marry you. A toad lusting after swan meat!”

”Qin Feng...” Song Fei barely got a word out before Qin Feng pushed him away and walked outside.

”You little wretch! What do you think you’re doing!” Li Junping yelled in annoyance, then invited Song Fei into the house with a beaming smile.

Qin Feng burst into tears, furious. She returned to her room, bolted the door, and threw herself on the bed to cry.

While crying, her mind did not stop for a moment, constantly searching for a way out.

She decided, she would run away from home and go to the city to find her brother Qin Jian.

Research Institute.

After an academic seminar concluded, a few people gathered around Qin Jian to discuss points with him. He was one of the few young engineers in the entire institute, not only good-looking but also highly skilled in his academic field.

From time to time, the institute director would organize study sessions for the young engineers to learn from the older ones and vice versa. In this seminar, Qin Jian raised his own questions and viewpoints on the issue of closely practiced production to meet the basic electricity needs of the city, proposing the issue of energy conservation.

The older engineers saw great potential in him, believing that this young man was not only ambitious in his work but also had an active mind and would be a pillar in future tasks.

After the discussion, the group prepared to head to the cafeteria for a meal.

At that moment, someone came up to him and said, ”Engineer Qin, someone is looking for you, she says she’s your sister!”

”My sister?” Qin Jian muttered, wondering if it was Song Yueqin or An Hao.

While Qin Jian was perplexed, he heard the person add, ”She says her name is Qin Feng.”

”Where is she?” Qin Jian inquired.

”She fell asleep outside in the security room.”

Qin Jian didn’t even bother to eat; he went straight to the security room and saw Qin Feng asleep on the desk, breathing deeply.

”Wake up,” Qin Jian nudged her shoulder.

Qin Feng stirred from her drowsiness, and upon opening her eyes to see Qin Jian in front of her, she widened her mouth and said with a quiver, ”Brother, save me!”

”What happened? How did you end up at my workplace?” Qin Jian asked with furrowed brows.

Qin Feng rubbed her eyes and, hearing her stomach gurgle, sheepishly said, ”Brother, I’m hungry, can you take me to eat first before we talk?”

At the peak of lunchtime, Qin Jian took Qin Feng to the cafeteria for a meal. Along the way, they drew many curious glances from colleagues.

Entering the cafeteria, they encountered several interns naive to the world. They remembered how elated Tian Niu had been when he returned a while back, bragging that Engineer Qin had gotten a girlfriend.

Despite Qin’s usually stoic face and expressionless demeanor, his eyes turned soft as spring water when it came to his girlfriend.

Then they overheard Tian Niu embellishing the story.

Only then did they understand that Captain Qin wasn’t heartless or desireless; he too had his tender moments, his cold exterior concealing a heart that pined in silence.

The naïve interns glanced at each other, suppressing smiles with unspoken agreement, greeted Qin Jian, and cheerfully called out to Qin Feng, ”Sister-in-law, hello!”

Qin Feng was dumbfounded. After it sank in, she stuttered to Qin Jian, ”Why are they calling me sister-in-law? Brother, do you have someone?”

”Not sure for now,” Qin Jian vaguely replied.

”What do you mean not sure for now?” Qin Feng grabbed his sleeve and pressed him, ”Do you have someone? If so, you should bring her home quickly to let mom have a look! The whole family is looking forward to you getting married.”

Qin Jian raised an eyebrow, and after mulling over it for a few seconds, said, ”Right now, it’s unclear, but I’ll try to win her heart as soon as possible.”

Upon hearing this, a smile slowly spread across Qin Feng’s face, ”That’s great, brother! Mom would be so happy she’d go crazy.”

”Let’s keep this to ourselves until things are certain,” he said.

”Why?”

”To avoid giving her false hopes.”

”Oh.”

Qin Feng found a seat and asked Qin Feng to sit while he went to get the food.

Qin Jian got four dishes: cabbage stewed with vermicelli, spicy shredded potatoes, braised pork, and a radish meatball dish, along with a bowl of egg soup for Qin Feng.

The younger colleagues around them looked over, and seeing Qin Feng turn to look at them, they called out with smiles, calling her sister-in-law.

Noticing the misunderstanding, Qin Jian stood up and clapped his hands, explaining, ”This is my sister, Qin Feng! She’s not ’sister-in-law,’ so stop calling her that.”
