Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 107: Chapter 107 Never Give Up

”Dad!” An Shuchao had not finished speaking when An Hao interrupted her. She sprang to her feet, stuffing the clothes she had arranged into the closet, her voice icy, ”This must be Bai Xue’s idea! Dad, going to university is my dream. I will never give up on my education, no matter what. Tell Bai Xue to give up on this hope; I’ll figure out the money myself.”

Having said this, An Hao left the house without looking back.

Bai Xue was angry when she saw An Hao storm into her own room. Grinding her teeth, she cursed silently in her heart: An Hao, you little bitch, are you scheming against my mom behind my back? Just wait, I’ll teach you a lesson when I get a chance.

Back in her room, An Hao felt terrible.

She had realized that no matter how much she tried to hold back and tolerate Bai Xue and her daughter, these two still didn’t know when to stop, full of malice, and were intent on ruining her life.

The more they behaved like this, the more she could not submit to them.

Is it just money? She would earn it!

Today was Saturday, when the study group members usually discussed and helped each other with their studies.

But she couldn’t go today.

Half a month ago, she had bought some Snowflake Cream from the city and hadn’t sold it yet. Now that she finally had some free time, she had to quickly deal with the inventory to break even and then earn some money to sustain her living expenses and pay off debts.

An Hao didn’t want to disturb An Ping’s studies so she didn’t tell him about her plans. She packed her things into her backpack, slung it over her shoulders, and left with her merchandise.

She stopped in front of Shen Zhihua’s house.

She usually studied together with Shen Zhihua, Zhang Li, and Song Yueqin. But since she couldn’t make it today, she had to let them know not to wait for her.

Thus, An Hao hitched her items on her back and entered Shen Zhihua’s yard.

The sunshine was nice that day. Shen Zhihua’s mother, Zhang Xiuping, was spinning yarn in the courtyard. Smiling, she stood up to greet An Hao: ”An Hao, you’re here? Come on in, they’re all studying in the room.”

”Auntie, I’m not here to study. I came to let the monitor know that I won’t be able to study today. I have to sell some goods,” An Hao said, gesturing to the backpack.

”Selling goods? What kind of goods?” Zhang Xiuping asked curiously.

An Hao placed her backpack on the ground and took out two boxes of Snowflake Cream: ”Auntie, it’s Snowflake Cream. These two boxes are for you and Lianqing. It’s perfect for the windy spring weather.”

Zhang Xiuping knew Snowflake Cream was expensive to buy and quickly refused: ”Two yuan a box. How could I accept something so expensive from you? Besides, aren’t you trying to sell it?”

An Hao forcefully handed the cream to Zhang Xiuping, laughing: ”It’s not expensive. I am indeed selling, but these two boxes are gifts for you and Lianqing. Auntie, I’m very grateful to you, I won’t say more. You must take it!”

”This... This isn’t right, I can’t accept...

”Auntie, our family has troubled you a lot. If you refuse, it makes me feel like you won’t help us anymore...”

”That’s not what I meant.”

”Then take it.”

As the two of them went back and forth, Shen Zhihua, who was studying inside, heard the noise and put down her pen to come out.

”An Hao, did you come to join the study group?”

Seeing Shen Zhihua approach, An Hao looked into her eyes filled with laughter. She returned the smile, shook her head, and said, ”No, I came to tell you that I won’t be able to join you for the study session today. You don’t have to wait for me.”
