Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 135: Chapter 134 You Keep It for Me

Qin Jian stopped in his tracks, looking at An Hao as she tiptoed into his room. In just a moment, she returned and handed him a roll of money, ”This is the money you lent me, and now I’m returning it to you.”

Qin Jian looked down at the roll of money in her hand, his brow twitching in silence.

”Oh, I forgot to tell you, thanks to the money you lent me, I started a small business with it. Not only did I pay off my debts, but I also made quite a bit of money,” An Hao explained.

”I don’t need this money for the time being, so you keep it for me,” Qin Jian had no intention of taking the money back once he gave it to An Hao, but he knew she would definitely not accept it.

So, he made up an excuse casually.

”This... you should keep it yourself.” We’re neither kin nor kind, so what does it mean to hold onto someone else’s money?

”I’m not good at keeping it safe; I might lose it. Consider it as you doing me a favor,” Qin Jian dropped the words and turned to leave.

”Hey...” An Hao chased after him, calling out from behind, ”Big Brother Qin... I...”

Qin Jian left without looking back.

Upon returning home, Qin Jian’s clothes were soaked through with the fine drizzle, and he changed into a fresh set once he got inside before heading to the north room.

Breakfast was already on the table: hot millet porridge, large white buns, two dishes of pickled radish and ginger, and a boiled egg for each person.

Qin Feng, who usually loved to sleep in, also got up early today. Seeing Qin Jian coming over, she curiously asked, ”Brother, why are you just getting back now?”

”Hmm.” Qin Jian responded indifferently, pulled over a stool, and started eating.

”What are your plans for today?” Qin Ru Hai sipped his thin porridge and inquired about Qin Jian’s matters.

”Today, I’m going to help out at the school. We’re cleaning out the school this morning and will move everything over later. With so many people, it’s not right to always be staying in fellow villagers’ houses,” Qin Jian replied as he paused eating.

”Alright, come back early for lunch. Your mother is making you white noodles with cabbage and meat sauce for midday,” Qin Ru Hai said delightedly, as if he wanted to indulge his son in all the good food in one day.

”That’s great, Uncle Qin, I just love noodles,” Tian Niu said with a big smile, his loud voice almost hurting everyone’s ears.

”Okay, I’ll roll out two bowls of noodles for you!” Li Junping said, beaming with joy.

”Thank you, Auntie!”

After breakfast, Qin Jian, Jian Ying, and Tian Niu, neatly dressed, left the house together and headed toward the village office.

On the way, Jian Ying sneakily glanced at Qin Jian, unable to resist chuckling merrily.

Seeing Jian Ying laugh so heartily, Qin Jian felt somewhat puzzled, ”What’s so funny that you’re this happy?”

”Hey, Qin Jian, confess, where did you go this morning?” Jian Ying asked him.

When Qin Jian heard the suggestive tone in his words, his narrow eyes squinted slightly and he asked, ”Jian Ying, what are you trying to say?”

”What I want to say... you should be very clear about in your heart...” Jian Ying intentionally spoke in circles to tease him, which made Tian Niu feel rather annoyed.

”Engineer Jian, what exactly did Qin go and do? You better speak up quickly; you’re killing me with the suspense.”

”Him? He slipped out early in the morning while it was still dark, went over to a young lady’s house to carry water for her...” Jian Ying was also strolling around aimlessly early in the morning and happened to see two silhouettes.
