Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1594: Third Soul Challenge

On the first floor, people from the Moonlit Passion Temple, the Celestial Moon Sect, the Spring Zenith Sect, and the Hidden Moon Sect were already close together.

Feng Yao, Jian Kuang, Su Shentian, and Zhuxian Sheng could have moved faster and climbed to the second floor to catch up with Zhang Fei, but they deliberately slowed down to protect the people from the four sects.

”This way, our people will be safe from those demons, right?”

Feng Yao nodded to Su Shentian. ”For now, our job is to protect our people, and we don’t need to worry about other cultivators, especially those from the Divine Samsara Sect.”

”Haha,” Jian Kang laughed. ”The people from that sect have always been arrogant, both their leaders and disciples, so let them take care of themselves.”

Zhuxian Sheng looked at the group of other cultivators. ”Emperor Long and the two senior dragons are protecting the other cultivators, and those demons seem to be deliberately slowing their steps, so they should be safe.”

”They’re safe for now.” The three men looked at Feng Yao. ”Once they enter the second floor, things will get chaotic, especially if those demons manage to complete their challenges faster than them.”

Jian Kuang clasped his hands together. ”You are right, Empress Huo. When we face those challenges, our souls are sent to other places, so our bodies are vulnerable to any attack, and those demons will take advantage of that opportunity to attack these people at that time.”

”Yes,” Feng Yao nodded as she looked at Wang Yusheng and Wang Jingzhi. ”Aren’t you two going to move forward? You two don’t need to wait for us because we have to protect these people, so you guys should go to the second floor as soon as possible.”

Wang Jingzhi nodded at her and immediately stepped forward to face the next challenge.

Meanwhile, Wang Yusheng asked Feng Yao. ”How did Zhang Fei and the five women reach the second floor so quickly, Empress Huo?”

”They’ve been training hard for the past few decades, and all these challenges on the first floor were useless to them in the first place.” Wang Yusheng knew from the start that all the challenges were useless for Zhang Fei, but he was truly surprised that the five women could keep up with his rhythm. ”His main goal in this tower is on the third floor, but he won’t be able to pass all the challenges on the second floor easily because he holds a lot of fear in his heart.”

”What exactly is on the third floor?”

”Hey, Yusheng! You have to go there to see for yourself, so you should move now and reach that floor.”

Wang Yusheng rebutted Jian Kuang instantly. ”Tch! You’ve never reached the third floor yourself!”

”Haha,” Jian Kuang laughed. ”If I wanted to, I could reach that floor this time, but I still have to protect these people.”

Feng Yao spoke to Wang Yusheng again. ”You don’t need to ask about those challenges on the third floor because it won’t be useful for you, so you should go there and see everything for yourself.”

”Alright.” Wang Yusheng nodded in resignation and continued with the next challenge.

.

”Tch! Those people are really annoying! They protect those human cultivators, preventing us from attacking them.”

Ku Shan nodded slightly. ”Young Lord, you don’t need to think about them now, and we should focus on reaching the second floor.”

”The second floor? Won’t all the challenges there make it more difficult for us to move against them?”

”You are wrong, Young Lord.” Ku Yu looked at Ku Yin, who told him about the challenges on the second floor. ”We don’t need to move too hastily now, and we will capture them when their souls are facing those challenges.”

Ku Yu himself had never challenged the tower before. ”What about Long Wuzhao and the two dragons? I’m sure they won’t challenge the second floor right away, and they’ll be waiting for those people.”

”Be patient for now, Young Lord. We’ll think of another way to capture those people, especially those from the Divine Samsara Sect.”

”Alright.”

.

.

.

”Are we going to keep moving slowly like this, Brother?”

Qian Yu nodded to his sister. ”For now, we don’t need to think about them, and we’ll focus on all the challenges ahead of us because we can’t do anything to them right now, especially with Empress Huo and the three dragons present. Once we reach the second floor, we’ll search for a good opportunity to capture them.”

”Is that really doable?” Qian Hufeng immediately explained to Qian Qin all the challenges they would face on the second floor. ”Does that mean we won’t face those challenges and focus on them?”

”Princess, we’ll assess the situation first, and we’ll take the next step once we get there.”

Qian Qin nodded to Qian Kuang before turning her gaze forward. ’What exactly happened to me? Why is this feeling still lingering in my heart?’

.

Unlike them, Sha Huo and his entourage were more relaxed, and they didn’t think much of those people.

”How are you, Qingge?”

Sha Qingge sighed. ”I’ve never challenged this tower before, so I’m still overwhelmed by the challenges, Brother.”

”It’s okay, you don’t need to rush, and you can rest first before starting the next challenge.”

”How did that person get to the second floor so fast, Brother?”

Sha Huo looked at the stairs leading to the second floor. ”Based on his fight with our grand elders three days ago, he is not an ordinary cultivator that we can see every day. I feel that he is still hiding his true strength and ability, so you don’t need to be surprised about that, and we have to focus on ourselves.”

”Yeah.” Sha Qingge thought for a moment before taking a step forward, and she was sent elsewhere directly.

Sha Huo and the others immediately followed Sha Qingge.

On the second floor, Luo Yunxiao had just completed her challenge. She saw that Zhang Fei seemed overwhelmed by his challenge, and she could sense that her husband was weakening, especially his soul power.

”Did he face any problems in his second challenge?” Luo Yunxiao moved to sit behind Zhang Fei, pressed her palms against his back, and used the ability of her Heaven-Earth Reversal Physique to assist him. ”I don’t know what you’re going through there, but I’m not leaving you alone, Husband.”

Before long, Nalan Wangzi, Helian Xun’er, Tianshi Shengjie, and Yue Xuelian had completed their challenges. They were shocked by Zhang Fei’s situation, but Luo Yunxiao asked them not to worry about him and move on to the next challenge.

After thinking about it, and since they couldn’t help Zhang Fei either, the four women immediately moved on to the next challenge.

”Don’t give up! You have to get through the challenge, and I will help you with that, Husband!”

.

.

.

Zhang Fei, who was facing Qian Yan in the second soul challenge, suddenly sensed Luo Yunxiao’s presence. He realized that his wife was trying to help him by using the abilities of her special physique.

Zhang Fei exhaled and inhaled a few breaths before counterattacking Qian Yan, absorbing the demon beast god’s soul power. He also released the white lotus from his soul, which immediately spun rapidly above the demon beast god.

*Roar*

Qian Yan roared loudly and tried to resist it, but Zhang Fei was absorbing his soul power much faster than before thanks to Luo Yunxiao’s help.

Slowly, Qian Yan’s body began to fade as Zhang Fei absorbed his soul power faster and faster.

Fortunately, the Qian Yan in front of Zhang Fei wasn’t the real one, and their soul power was on par, but Luo Yunxiao’s help gave him the upper hand over the demon beast god.

After some time, Zhang Fei had completely absorbed Qian Yan’s soul power, causing the demon beast god to disappear from the scene.

When he opened his eyes, Zhang Fei had already returned to his body and heaved a sigh of relief. ”Thank you, Yunxiao. If you hadn’t helped me, it would have taken me much longer to defeat Qian Yan.”

”Eh? Are you really facing the Ten Thousand Eyes Demon God, Husband? You’ve never met him before, right? How could he appear in your soul challenge?” Luo Yunxiao was confused.

”I don’t know how he could appear in the challenge of my soul.” Zhang Fei helped her up. ”Even though Qian Yan’s soul power is on par with mine, I would really have a hard time dealing with him without your help.”

”If so, your next challenges may not be easy, Husband.”

”Although those challenges won’t be easy, I have no choice but to face them; otherwise, I won’t be able to reach the third floor.”

”Hehe,” Luo Yunxiao hugged him. ”Alright, you don’t need to worry about those challenges, okay? If I see you struggling with the next one, I’ll help you like I did just now.”

”Thank you.” Thereafter, they walked to the third area and sat down. ”Let’s face the next one.”

”Okay.”

.

.

When Zhang Fei opened his eyes, he found himself in front of a luxurious house. He recognized the house because it was his father’s, but he saw no one there.

Zhang Fei explored the house in search of the next challenge. ”Why did the challenge bring me back to this house?”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei turned toward the sound of laughter and saw his little self standing opposite him. ”Do you know why I appeared in front of you?

”Why?”

Little Zhang Fei pointed at him. ”You’re afraid of yourself, aren’t you? The soul challenge manifests your fear of yourself, so I appear before you now.”
