Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1576: A Mysterious Man

Feng Yao was in a dark room, causing her to raise an eyebrow. ”Come out.”

”Haha.” A black shadow of a man suddenly appeared in front of Feng Yao, but she couldn’t see his face. ”It’s useless for you to try to guess my identity, Shen Yuanzhi, or do you prefer if I call you the core of this universe?”

Feng Yao was not surprised to hear that from the man. ”You are the source of the birth of this universe, right?”

”That little girl who came from another universe talks too much to you. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stop her because her father was born special, and she inherited something from him.”

Feng Yao raised an eyebrow when the man mentioned Xuanyuan Yue and her father, but she didn’t bother about them. ”So, my guess about you was correct, eh? How could this universe be born? How did you come to be in this universe? What is your purpose in doing all that?”

”I won’t explain to you my identity or the origins of this universe,” Feng Yao frowned. ”This universe has lost its order; you are responsible for that, and I appeared to restore it to normal.”

”Are you thinking of destroying this universe like you wanted to destroy Xuanyuan Yue’s universe in the past?”

”You’re wrong about that,” The man refuted her. ”The one who wants to destroy her universe is not me, but something hidden within its core, which is your equal. My job is only to maintain the balance of this universe, or it will be destroyed if that balance is lost.”

”If that’s the case, why did you create those shadowy creatures?”

”You’re wrong again.” The man pointed his finger at her. ”You are the mastermind behind the emergence of those shadowy creatures, and I was forced to appear because of your negligence.”

”What do you mean by that?”

”You may not realize it, but your decision to manifest yourself in the past is the cause of the appearance of those shadowy creatures.”

Feng Yao was confused by that because she had already considered everything well in the past, and she never knew that those shadowy creatures existed in her universe in the past.

The man spoke to her again. ”As you already know, this universe was born from Yin and Yang—good and evil, and those shadowy creatures are the incarnation of the evil side hidden in this universe. They have existed since the birth of this universe, but they were locked away deep in the core, and they were finally freed after you manifested yourself. They had never moved before, and they took advantage of the damage and chaos in this universe to strengthen themselves. They were strong now, so they decided to appear on the surface, and they intended to destroy this universe.”

”Can you stop them?”

”No.” The man shook his head. ”I am merely the will born from my true self, and I possess no power whatsoever, so I can’t stop them. Fortunately, the arrival of that young girl brought changes to this universe, and the savior has already been born.”

”Zhang Fei.”

”Yes.” The man nodded at her. ”Zhang Fei is the key to defeating those shadowy creatures, but he’s still too weak right now, and they’ll devour him alive if they meet now. They are only pawns, and the core creature has not yet surfaced. To stop the chaos in this universe, you must kill it, and those shadowy creatures will disappear forever.”

”Where is the location of the core creature?”

”Unfortunately, the core creature escaped due to your mistake, and I haven’t managed to find it yet, so I can’t tell you its location.” Feng Yao frowned deeply as she thought. ”I think our conversation is enough, and I will wait for Zhang Fei on the third floor of this tower.”

”Wait—” Feng Yao had not finished speaking, but she had already been sent out of the place and returned to the first floor.

[Master, what happened to you? Why did I feel like my connection with you was cut off just now?] Feng Yao sighed softly and told Huo Ling about her conversation with the mysterious man just now. [Huh? Are you serious about that? Are you really the cause of the appearance of those shadowy creatures?]

’At least, that’s what that man told me.’

[So, what are you going to do now?]

’Nothing.’ Feng Yao looked around, but she couldn’t find Zhang Fei there. ’For now, we have to wait for that kid to become strong because he’s the only one who can stop those creatures’ main core, but I don’t know how much time we have after their appearance.’

”What happened to you, Empress Huo? Why is your expression so serious?” Tianshi Shengjie asked.

”Nothing happened.” Feng Yao looked ahead. ”We don’t need to wait for Zhang Fei and the others, and we should go first.”

”What about them?” Helian Xun’er pointed to Yue Qianrou and the elders of the Celestial Moon Sect, who were still struggling to cope with the gravity.

Feng Yao looked at them. ”They’ve already challenged this tower before, so they should be ready to face any challenges here. Moreover, their cultivation bases are already high, so they’ll have to work on their own to reach the second floor. Let’s move.”

Tianshi Shengjie and Helian Xun’er glanced at Yue Qianrou and the elders of the Celestial Moon Sect, but they didn’t say anything and immediately followed behind Feng Yao.

A few moments later, Wang Jingzhi and Wang Yusheng arrived at the tower, and they were slightly surprised to see the women from the Celestial Moon Sect. They were even more surprised because Tianshi Shengjie and Helian Xun’er were already ahead of them, even though they had headed to the tower before the two women.

”Hey, Big Sis! Isn’t that crimson-haired woman Empress Huo? What is she doing in this tower?”

”Empress Huo has reached the third floor in the past, but I don’t know if she found anything there. Perhaps she wants to go to the third floor again to check something, so we shouldn’t disturb her and focus on the challenges that await us.” Wang Jingzhi looked at Tianshi Shengjie and Helian Xun’er. ”Could it be that Zhang Fei has also arrived at this tower?”

”I think so.” Wang Yusheng sighed softly as he looked at the women from the Celestial Moon Sect. ”They will likely take a long time to break free from that heavy gravity.”

”Let’s go.” Wang Jingzhi and Wang Yusheng were immediately transported to two different locations as soon as they stepped forward.

Luo Yunxiao suddenly returned to the place, but she couldn’t find Zhang Fei and Nalan Wangzi. She didn’t worry about them and stepped forward to the third challenge, but a powerful pressure pressed down on her from above. She activated her Heaven-Earth Reversal Physique to dispel the pressure, and she immediately stepped onto the next challenge.

Yue Qianrou and the elders of the Celestial Moon Sect looked enviously at Luo Yunxiao and the others, especially since the challenges on the first floor seemed insignificant to them.

A few moments later, Nalan Wangzi had also returned to the first floor. She didn’t care too much about Yue Qianrou and the others, and she immediately continued to the next challenge.

Yue Xuelian finally returned, and she looked at her sect members. ”Are you guys still unable to handle the gravity?”

”Big Sis, you don’t have to wait for us and move forward directly.”

”Alright.” Yue Xuelian immediately stepped forward, but she was sent elsewhere once again.

After some time, Zhang Fei appeared at the place, but he did not move forward immediately; instead, he turned to face the group from the Divine Samsara Sect that had just arrived. ”Oh? Elder Yu Shan? Are you leading disciples from your sect? I didn’t expect to see you here.”

”Haha,” Yu Shan laughed. ”I didn’t expect to see you here today either, Kid. My vice sect master and all the elders are here to lead our disciples, but I only lead our inner disciples. As for the core disciples, they are under the leadership of Vice Sect Master Li Guangyu, and they should have already made their way here. Did you come here alone?”

”I came with them.” Zhang Fei pointed to Luo Yunxiao and the others at the front.

Yu Shan glanced at them for a moment, but he trembled when he saw Feng Yao. ”I didn’t expect Empress Huo to be in this tower too.”

”I will continue the challenge, Elder Yu Shan.”

”Alright.”

Zhang Fei once again disappeared from the place.

”Do you know that man well, Elder Yu?” a female disciple asked.

Yu Shan nodded at her. ”He’s the son-in-law of the Immortal Lotus Sanctuary and also one of the leaders of the Moonlit Passion Temple.”

”The Moonlit Passion Temple? Isn’t that sect a dual cultivation sect? How could he be the son-in-law of the Immortal Lotus Sanctuary?”

”The Moonlit Passion Temple was a dual cultivation sect in the past, but Zhang Fei had completely overhauled the sect, and it became a universal sect now.” Yu Shan looked at the male disciples. ”Alright, you guys don’t need to worry about that kid; instead, focus on completing all the challenges on this first floor, and remember our Sect Master’s explanation regarding them.”

”Yes, Elder Yu.” Those disciples immediately moved forward, but most of them right away fell on the floor, and some were sent to other places.

Yu Shan could only shake his head as he saw several disciples fall to the floor because of the gravity challenge, and he himself stepped forward to start his challenge before disappearing from that place.
