Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 490: Meet Lin Hao

”Eh? Why did you suddenly come back here, Cousin?” Not only was Quan Xun surprised by Zhang Fei[1]ʼs return, but Xia Bing and the others were also surprised by it.

Zhang Fei [1] immediately sat in front of them as he looked at them one by one. ”You all have developed quite well in the past month and a half, especially you, Xunʼer.”

”Haha.” Quan Xun laughed awkwardly at that. ”This is all because of Senior Sister Lingshan; she kept pushing me forward in our training last time. In fact, we just came back three days ago, and we were thinking of resting for a few days before going out to take on new missions.”

”Thatʼs good, but for now, you guys donʼt need to take on new missions. Instead, I want you all to train at my private training ground alongside the others.” Mu Lingshu and the others turned to Zhang Fei [1], who promptly provided them with an explanation. ”Actually, I have no interest in bringing outsiders there, but I already consider all of you as my friends, and you guys have helped my cousin.

Moreover, I have prepared some other plans related to the middle realms, so I want you guys to train there, and you all better make good use of it. Otherwise, you wonʼt be able to handle the challenging conditions in the middle realms, especially given the presence of numerous powerful cultivators who are significantly stronger than those in this realm.”

”Are you really going to take us to the middle realms?” Fu Lingshan asked in surprise.

”Yes.” Zhang Fei [1] nodded at her. ”I need people I can trust for my plans, and I trust all of you, so I will bring you guys to the middle realms. However, I will not discuss all of my plans for now, especially since I still have to prepare and finalize everything first. For now, your main task is to practice daily, and once everything is ready, I will immediately take you all there.”

”Can you tell us which realm you want to go to?”

Zhang Fei [1] shook his head at Mu Lingshu in response. ”I havenʼt decided which realm will be my next destination, especially since I donʼt have any definite information about those realms, but I already have a few choices for it. In one of those realms, the situation is extremely harsh and tense, with constant life-and-death battles taking place.

I have heard from someone that we can see corpses every time we take a step forward.”

*Gasp*

All of them gasped in shock because of that, especially since the situation in the Sky Jade Realm was relatively safe, even though they had experienced so many great dangers in the past. Moreover, the heretics had disappeared, and the demon portal had also been destroyed, so their realm was much safer.

”Are you afraid of that?” They did not hide their fear from Zhang Fei [1], especially since the situation he described was far more terrifying than what they had faced so far. ”Honestly, I myself am afraid of the situation in that realm, but we are cultivators, and we cannot continue to be afraid of facing such a situation.

This realm may be safe now, but it does not rule out the possibility that other great dangers will arise in the future. In fact, cultivators from the upper realms are still targeting this realm because of something, and they will sooner or later attack here again, either directly or indirectly, just like when they take advantage of those demons and heretics in the past.

If we want to protect our loved ones, we must move forward and face whatever danger comes our way; only then will we have the strength.”

”Back then, the existence of those heretics always caused us to live in constant anxiety, particularly because we didnʼt know when they would attack us or what kind of cruel things they would do to us. I didnʼt want to live in that kind of situation anymore, and I needed strength for that. Moreover, your offer wonʼt come twice, so I accepted it.” Fu Lingshan then turned to her partner.

”Do you dare to take risks with me? If you lack the courage, weʼll end our relationship today, as I donʼt want a cowardly partner.”

Fu Lingshanʼs words made Lian Chengyu laugh and cry in his heart, but he immediately put on a determined face. ”I am a man, and I will not lose to you, so I accept it.”

”Thatʼs good.”

Xia Bing and Nanxuan Luoyue exchanged glances for a moment before they answered Zhang Fei [1]. ”Brother Fei, we will also accept your offer, and we will train harder from now on, so we will be ready when you want to take us to the middle realms.”

”What about you, Lingshu?”

”En.” Mu Lingshu nodded slightly. ”My family no longer wants me, so I have no one else. I only live for myself, and I want to become truly strong to protect myself, so I will join you.”

Zhang Fei [1] nodded in satisfaction with their decision. ”Anyway, where is Dongʼer? Why didnʼt she join you guys?”

”Cousin, Senior Dongʼer has been acting strangely lately and hasnʼt shown up since we returned to the sect, but it seems to be related to you.” Zhang Fei [1] turned to Quan Xun in confusion, especially since he didnʼt do anything to Lin Dongʼer during their last meeting. ”I find it difficult to explain it to you, so it would be better if you go see her yourself.”

Zhang Fei [1] turned to the others, but they shook their heads, including Mu Lingshu, who was closest to Lin Dongʼer. He sighed softly before asking his cousin. ”So when do you want to propose to Susu? Iʼve told Aunt Tan about your relationship with her, but she wants you to confirm it with her family first.”

At that moment, Tang Susuʼs face was flushed red as she shily explained to Zhang Fei. ”Brother Fei, Iʼve informed my family about our relationship, and they have no objections to my decision, so you are welcome to visit my Tang Clan at any time.”

”All right, I will speak with Aunt Tan again later. I will also prepare everything before we go to your clan to formalize your relationship with Xunʼer, so you guys can dual cultivate soon.” Zhang Fei [1]ʼs last sentence made Tang Susuʼs face turn as red as a ripe tomato. ”I will send you all there now, so you can start your training, and I will go check on Dongʼer.”

After he sent them into the training space, Zhang Fei [1] immediately used his invisibility and snuck into Lin Dongʼerʼs room. When he arrived there, he fell dumbfounded at the sight of her punching her pillow in frustration, and there was an ugly painting of someoneʼs face. Moreover, she also repeatedly cursed him in anger, causing him to smile in amusement at her behavior.

*Bam... Bam...*

”Die! You jerk!” Lin Dongʼer kept punching and cursing to vent her anger. ”You always care about Lingshu, but you never care about me!”

ʼThis girl! She was the one who teased me back then, and I responded to her game right away, but she ran away like a rabbit. Since then, she has been avoiding me and running away whenever she sees me, yet she blames me for not caring about her.ʼ Zhang Fei [1] gave a faint smile before approaching Lin Dongʼer. He immediately grabbed both of her hands and pinned her down, shocking her.

”Zhang Fei! Let me go now!” Lin Dongʼer immediately screamed in struggle, but Zhang Fei [1] held her hands and feet tightly.

”Hehe.” Zhang Fei [1] chuckled as he canceled his invisibility, which simultaneously caused Lin Dongʼer to feel irritated, embarrassed, and blush. ”I heard you calling me a jerk, and you said I never cared about you.”

Lin Dongʼer immediately turned her embarrassed face to the side, unable to respond to Zhang Fei [1]. ʼUgh ! This bastard! He already has so many wives, but he still canʼt understand a womanʼs feelings!ʼ

”Did you miss me that much, chubby rabbit?”

Lin Dongʼerʼs forehead creased as she glared at Zhang Fei [1]. ”Iʼm not chubby! Donʼt you dare to call me like that again!”

”Is that so?” Zhang Fei[1] immediately carried Lin Dongʼer, further embarrassing her. He then took her to the dressing table in his room and pointed to the mirror. ”Am I wrong to call you chubby? Even so, youʼre not an ugly chubby; rather, youʼre such a cute chubby.”

”Humph!” Lin Dongʼer snorted in response. ”You are a liar and gibberish! Iʼm not that cute in your eyes! You care more about Lingshu than me!”

”Hahaha.” Zhang Fei[1] laughed, sat Lin Dongʼer on the dressing table, and pressed her against the mirror. ”Why do you keep blaming me? You were the one who started teasing me, but you immediately ran away after I responded to you, and you kept avoiding me after that, remember? So how can I give you my attention if you keep acting like that?

Furthermore, Iʼve given you my precious pills, so it should be clear to you that I care about you, right? Or do you want something else from me to prove I care about you?”

Lin Dongʼer repeatedly blinked her eyes as Zhang Fei [1] took out a bottle. She naturally knew what it contained because her best friend had already consumed it several times, which greatly aided her in catching up to her in their cultivation.

”I donʼt mind giving it to you, but I canʼt give it to you now, and Iʼll give it to you after we meet your father.”

”Eh?” Lin Dongʼer let out a soft cry immediately. ”What… what do you want to do by meeting my father?”

”Isnʼt that obvious?” Zhang Fei [1] immediately put Lin Dongʼer down and pulled her out of his room. ”Iʼve known about your feelings for a long time, and you didnʼt dare to admit your own feelings because your father forbade you from marrying a dual cultivator, right? However, Iʼm different from other dual cultivators, and Iʼm sure your father wouldnʼt refuse if I wanted to take you as my wife.”

”No!” Lin Dongʼer let out a loud scream as she tried to shake Zhang Fei [1]ʼs hand off hers. ”Stop! Donʼt meet my father! He will definitely be angry and disappointed with me!”

Zhang Fei [1] naturally did not listen to Lin Dongʼer, and she kept screaming all the way to the punishment hall because Lin Hao was in charge of that place, causing the disciples who saw them to wonder for themselves.

Before long, they had arrived at the punishment hall, and Lin Dongʼer was forced to follow Zhang Fei [1] inside, but she kept her head lowered in fear.

”Hmm?” Lin Hao immediately turned to them with raised eyebrows, as Zhang Fei [1] was holding his daughterʼs hand, and Lin Dongʼer also appeared frightened. ”What are you doing? Why did you make my daughter so scared?”

”Elder Lin, I donʼt want to mince words with you, and I came here to ask for Dongʼerʼs hand.” Lin Dongʼerʼs heart tightened as she glanced at her father, genuinely afraid that Lin Hao would be angry with her. However, her father appeared stunned by Zhang Fei [1]ʼs words.

”I understand your desire to marry her to a single man who will only be loyal to her, but I can tell you that not all single men are good, and they will not necessarily treat her well. As for me, I do have many wives, but I always treat them fairly and equally, and they also live harmoniously under one roof.

Moreover, your daughter has fallen for me, and she is often jealous of Lingshu, but she doesnʼt dare to admit her feelings because she doesnʼt want to disappoint you. Thatʼs why I brought her here, and I hope you wonʼt hurt her feelings by forcing her to marry another man.”

As soon as Lin Hao glanced at her, Lin Dongʼer lowered her head even further and tightly gripped Zhang Feiʼs [1]ʼs hand. Even her palms were starting to get cold from sweat, and her body was also trembling in fear.

Lin Hao experienced a conflict in his heart upon witnessing his daughterʼs actions, which led him to understand that she had indeed developed feelings for him.

On one hand, he was aware that Zhang Fei [1] was the best man he could have chosen to be his daughterʼs husband, but on the other hand, he had always hoped that his daughter could have a husband who was completely loyal to her, like himself with his late wife. ”Do you really like him, Dongʼer?”

”Y... yes... father.”

”What makes you like him?”

”I... I donʼt know.”

Zhang Fei [1] wanted to laugh hearing Lin Dongʼer answer her father like that, but he immediately held himself back. ʼThis girl! Sheʼs too innocent! Even Xu Lingʼer is far more mature than her.ʼ

Lin Hao himself massaged his forehead after hearing that, and he also thought the same as Zhang Fei [1] that Lin Dongʼer was too innocent to understand her own feelings. ”It seems I have to break my promise to your late mother to find you a good single man.”

”Eh?” Lin Dongʼer immediately looked up at Lin Hao. ”Does... does that mean youʼre not angry and willing to accept my feelings for him, father?”

”What can I do?” Lin Hao asked back with a heavy sigh. ”Even though you said you donʼt know what made you fall for him, I can see that you do like him. Moreover, you are my only daughter, and I cannot bear to see you suffer, which is why I decided for you to be with him.”

”Hahahaha!” Lin Dongʼer immediately burst out laughing after hearing that, causing Zhang Fei [1] and Lin Hao to facepalm, especially since her character changed instantly. She immediately jumped into her fatherʼs lap, hugged his neck, and kissed his cheek repeatedly. ”Phew!

I was really afraid that you would be mad at me, so Iʼm relieved that youʼre not, and Iʼm pleased that you can understand my feelings. I... Ouch... Ouch...”

”You spoiled little girl!” Lin Hao pinched Lin Dongʼerʼs chubby cheeks quite forcefully. ”Youʼre old now, but your mindset is still too innocent, and your behavior is still childish! If you continue like this, you will never be ready to be a wife. Moreover, you have to remember that Zhang Fei [1] has many wives, and they are much more mature than you in age and mindset!

If you continue like this after marrying him, they will definitely tease you every day!”

”Ouch.. Father, my cheeks are going to stretch if you pinch them this hard!” Lin Hao shook his head and stopped pinching her cheeks, while Lin Dongʼer immediately rubbed her own cheeks. ”I do like him, but I wonʼt marry him anytime soon, and I will wait for the right time.”

Instead, Lin Hao asked Zhang Fei [1]. ”Are you okay with that?”

”Thatʼs not a problem for me, Elder Lin.” Zhang Fei [1] rubbed Lin Dongʼerʼs head. ”I know sheʼs not completely sure about her feelings yet, so Iʼll let her understand them first. Moreover, her character is still too childish, so Iʼll take her as my wife after sheʼs truly ready to be a wife.”

”Iʼm not childish!” Lin Dongʼer complained while puffing her cheeks.

Zhang Fei [1] ignored her and gave his basic pills to Lin Hao. ”You donʼt have to think about it, and theyʼll help you improve your foundation. Anyway, Iʼm going to take Dongʼer to my private training place, so she probably wonʼt be back anytime soon.”

”All right, you can take her with you, and you must train her as hard as you can, so she wonʼt continue to be spoiled.”

”Father! Iʼm not spoiled!”
