The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 334: Chapter 334: Danger Ahead Chapter 334: Chapter 334: Danger Ahead Time continued to move forward.

As night fell, the team set up camp.

Hunting at night was extremely dangerous, though everyone was a Martial Artist of the Innate Realm with exceptional vision.

Nonetheless, nighttime could not be compared to daylight.

For many spiritual beasts, either their sense of smell was acute, or their vision at night was sharper—qualities not comparable to humans.

Thus, the majority of students from the Three Major Academies did not actively hunt at night after entering the Hunting Ground.

“Jing Yan, you keep watch tonight.

If a spiritual beast appears, notify us immediately!” Gao Lu approached Jing Yan and ordered.

In fact, these Martial Artists did not need sleep.

However, people like Gao Lu obviously did not want to waste time keeping watch.

Having Jing Yan, who was readily available to do the grunt work, there was no reason not to make use of him.

“Alright, I’ll handle the night watch.” Jing Yan nodded in response.

Under the cover of night, the entire Hunting Ground Mountain Range emitted a cold aura.

Jing Yan sat cross-legged on a huge tree, with Jing Ziqi also seated beside him.

“Jing Yan, the mission we’ve taken this time is quite difficult and might take several days to complete,” Jing Ziqi whispered.

“Mhm,” Jing Yan nodded.

“Why don’t you go back?

I’ll be fine with Senior Sister Lin Ru here,” Jing Ziqi bit her lip.

Actually, she was happy with Jing Yan by her side, but she realized that Jing Yan’s presence here was basically a waste of time since he had not participated in any kills, and the hunted spiritual beasts had nothing to do with him.

“Let’s go back together,” Jing Yan said.

The night passed without incident!

The next morning, the team moved out again.

This time, not more than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea had passed before the team encountered a Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beast.

A Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beast had strength roughly equal to a Human Martial Artist of the Late Innate Realm.

As Lin Ru’s team included many Martial Artists of the Late Innate Realm, killing this spiritual beast was very easy.

Everyone was pleased with the kill.

“If we could kill a Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beast every two hours, we could complete the mission in one day!”

“Yeah!

But Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts are not so easy to come across.

We might not encounter one for several hours.”

“Hehe… or maybe we might come across several at once?

I hope we encounter an easier Third-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beast.

Killing one would complete the mission.

I can’t wait to go back and collect the points,” Gao Lu laughed heartily.

A Third-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beast had combat power equivalent to an Innate Peak Martial Artist.

With their team’s strength, they could barely fight, but it was also very dangerous.

It was fine if they encountered an easier Third-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beast, but a more troublesome one could lead to casualties.

After another hour.

“Roar!”

A roar of a spiritual beast came from ahead.

Lin Ru and the others tensed up, exchanging glances.

“I’ll go check it out!” Gao Lu volunteered.

Without waiting for Lin Ru’s approval, he dashed out at high speed.

Jing Yan frowned and shook his head unwillingly.

Gao Lu’s approach was somewhat improper.

Even if he wanted to scout, he should be more cautious, conceal his aura, and slow down.

But Gao Lu did not have this awareness; he simply charged out using his Primordial Energy, fearing that they might encounter the spiritual beast before it detected him.

Lin Ru and the others saw Jing Yan shaking his head but nobody paid much attention.

“Prepare to fight; those Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts are coming over,” Jing Yan’s gaze sharpened as he sensed that the spiritual beasts ahead had noticed Gao Lu and were charging towards him.

Gao Lu would definitely lead them right here.

“Those spiritual beasts?” Lin Ru’s eyebrows knitted together.

Others might not have caught it, but Lin Ru sensed something unusual in Jing Yan’s words; he had said “those spiritual beasts,” not “that spiritual beast.”

“Yes, there should be four spiritual beasts coming.

They are bursting with energy; they should all be Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts,” Jing Yan nodded and told Lin Ru.

“Kid, don’t talk nonsense, how do you know there are four spiritual beasts?” Ye Dong laughed as he spoke to Jing Yan.

Even they were unaware of the situation ahead, so how could Jing Yan know there were four spiritual beasts?

Moreover, he said they were all Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts.

“In five breaths, you’ll know,” Jing Yan looked at Ye Dong without explaining.

After all, Gao Lu was already leading four Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts their way.

Hearing Jing Yan’s words, except for Jing Ziqi, everyone else merely laughed it off.

Obviously, they did not take Jing Yan’s words seriously.

Even Lin Ru did not believe what Jing Yan had said.

Jing Yan didn’t mind either; he had said all he needed to say.

If they didn’t believe him, it wasn’t his fault.

“Ziqi, stand behind me later.

Given their current attitude, it will be hard to block four Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts at once,” Jing Yan told Jing Ziqi.

“Okay,” Jing Ziqi responded.

A few breaths later.

“Thump thump thump!”

“Clang!”

With a series of loud noises, the whole ground started to shake.

It was then that Lin Ru and the others drastically changed their expressions, realizing that this commotion wasn’t something one spiritual beast could cause.

Soon after, Gao Lu’s disheveled figure appeared within everyone’s line of sight.

“Quick!

Come help me!” Gao Lu shouted at Lin Ru and the others, very urgently.

Behind him, four large figures could already be seen.

“It’s the Golden-eyed Bears!

Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts, Golden-eyed Bears!” Ye Dong gasped in shock.

The Golden-eyed Bear was a notoriously tricky Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beast.

This species had a very strong life force and an immense strength, making it one of the least favored adversaries for Human Martial Artists among the Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts.

In fact, the senses of the Golden-eyed Bear were not very acute.

If Gao Lu had been more cautious during his reconnaissance, he could have completely avoided the discovery by the Golden-eyed Bears.

Moreover, after discovering that four Golden-eyed Bears were charging at him, he should have led them away from his team for safety, not towards them.

This team, facing four Golden-eyed Bears, was in great danger.

While they might have managed to kill ordinary Second-level Golden Pattern Spiritual Beasts, confronting fierce creatures like the Golden-eyed Bears was a different story.

“Engage!” Without hesitation, Lin Ru swung her arm and led with her Primordial Energy as she charged forward.
