The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 306: Chapter 306: Someone from the Criminal Punishment Hall Chapter 306: Chapter 306: Someone from the Criminal Punishment Hall While Jing Yan was undergoing the alchemy assessment, and refining elixirs, Gao Zhao Hai deliberately spoke out loud in an attempt to influence Jing Yan’s alchemy and cause his assessment to fail.

Such behavior would certainly be despised.

Within the Alchemist Association, everyone knew that Gao Zhao Hai was Vice President Xu Dong’s man.

His actions unavoidably led people to associate them with Xu Dong.

Furthermore, it was clear that Jing Yan sided with Vice President Liu Wen, which was enough to make Xu Dong dissatisfied with Jing Yan.

Therefore, it was only natural that Xu Dong did not wish for Jing Yan to pass the assessment.

Now that Jing Yan had successfully passed the assessment and joined the Alchemist Association, it was as if he’d firmly slapped Xu Dong in the face, causing Xu Dong’s prestige to suffer another Waterloo.

In the covert struggle between Xu Dong and Liu Wen, Liu Wen seemed to be gaining the upper hand.

Vice President Liu Wen’s room contained only Jing Yan and Liu Wen at that moment.

“Jing Yan, congratulations on joining the Alchemist Association,” Liu Wen congratulated Jing Yan.

Since they were in public just before, Liu Wen didn’t speak much with Jing Yan.

Now that they were alone in the room, Liu Wen’s demeanor became much more relaxed.

“I have already arranged an alchemy room for you.

From now on, you can use this room to practice alchemy.”

“By the way, Jing Yan, now that you’ve joined the Alchemist Association and become a member, you are a Second-level Alchemist.

However, if you want to get the Spirit Grass materials for elixir refining from the Association, you’ll need to exchange Contribution Points,” Liu Wen continued.

“Contribution Points?” Jing Yan looked at Liu Wen.

“Yes, Contribution Points.

Pharmacists hand in medicine to get Contribution Points.

Pill Masters hand in elixirs to get Contribution Points.

Contribution Points can be exchanged for various Spiritual Grasses,” Liu Wen nodded.

“Understood,” Jing Yan also nodded.

Pill Masters of the Alchemist Association could obtain Spirit Grass from inside without having to buy them with Spirit Stones, but they needed Contribution Points.

Earning Contribution Points required medicines or elixirs, which was essentially not much different from buying with Spirit Stones, only it was more direct and convenient.

For Jing Yan, joining the Alchemist Association indeed had substantial benefits.

At the very least, within the Association, one could get access to a nearly infinite supply of resources for elixir refinement.

Although Spirit Grass could also be bought outside, it would certainly be more troublesome, and the variety of Spiritual Grasses available from commercial entities outside was definitely not as comprehensive as those within the Association.

It was time to try refining Third-level Elixirs and advance to become a Third-level Alchemist.

However, before attempting to refine Third-level Elixirs, Jing Yan wanted to strengthen his alchemy ability by refining First and Second-level Elixirs more frequently, which would naturally lead to greater familiarity with the process.

After saying goodbye to Liu Wen, Jing Yan first inspected the alchemy room assigned to him.

The room had a Pill Furnace, but compared to the Qiankun Pill Furnace, it was vastly inferior.

Then, Jing Yan went to the Association’s warehouse, first exchanged some elixirs on him for Contribution Points, then used those points to exchange for a large amount of Spirit Grass.

Jing Yan discovered that with his alchemy ability, he could reap astonishing profits.

For instance, submitting a Second-class Revitalizing Pill would earn him two thousand Contribution Points.

Yet, the materials for a batch of Revitalizing Pills only needed around two thousand Contribution Points to exchange.

From the materials for one batch, Jing Yan could refine six Second-class Revitalizing Pills, which amounted to twelve thousand Contribution Points.

The profit margin was, indeed, rather substantial.

The thought of it even excited Jing Yan.

After exchanging for a large amount of Spirit Grass, Jing Yan immediately returned to his alchemy room, locked the door, then entered the Qiankun Space and started refining elixirs with the Qiankun Furnace.

Various First and Second-level Elixirs were continually being made.

For an average Pill Master, refining a batch of Elixirs might require several hours, but Jing Yan needed only thirty minutes.

Moreover, Jing Yan could refine Elixirs continuously.

An average Pill Master would need even more time to rest and recover after refining one batch, but with Jing Yan’s mighty Divine Soul, he didn’t feel fatigued even after refining three to five batches.

Alchemy!

Frantic alchemy!

Jing Yan needed to accumulate a large stockpile of Elixirs so that he could return to Dao Yi Academy, exchange them for Points, and then use a large number of Points to quickly enhance his strength.

With his current alchemy speed, his rate of resource accumulation was absolutely terrifying.

…

“Brother Xu Dong!”

“Little brother Mu Xi, what brings you to the Alchemist Association?”

Inside the room, both men exchanged greetings with a bowed hand.

One of them, the Vice President of the Alchemist Association, was Xu Dong.

The other, named Mu Xi, was not a member of the Association, but rather held the rank of Vice Hall Master of the Criminal Punishment Hall at Dao Yi Academy.

“Hehe, I’ve come to see you, Brother Xu Dong, because there is a favor I would like to ask of you,” Mu Xi said with a smile, sitting down before continuing.

“Oh?

Little brother Mu Xi, do you need Elixir refinement?” Xu Dong narrowed his eyes.

“This time, I’m not seeking Brother Xu Dong’s help with Elixir refinement, but hoping that Brother Xu Dong could hand someone over,” Mu Xi shifted his gaze.

“Hand someone over?”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Little brother Mu Xi, could it be that you want me to hand over someone from the Alchemist Association?” Xu Dong frowned.

“Exactly!” Mu Xi nodded.

“This might be a bit inappropriate!

Little brother Mu Xi, I’m the Vice President of the Alchemist Association, yet you come to me asking to hand over someone from the Association.

Let’s put aside what you intend to do with this person for the moment, but to ask me to hand over a Pill Master of the Association, do you think that’s realistic?

Even if the Commandery Prince’s Manor asked for someone, they’d need a sufficient reason, right?

If I were to hand over someone to you frivolously, people would talk,” Xu Dong shook his head.

He and Mu Xi were old acquaintances with a decent relationship.

Mu Xi was the Vice Hall Master of Dao Yi Academy’s Criminal Punishment Hall, and also an elder-level figure of the Academy.

His status was not very different from Xu Dong’s.

However, it was clearly inappropriate for Mu Xi to ask Xu Dong to hand over a Pill Master of the Association.

Moreover, it was a critical period.

Many neutral Pill Masters within the Association were already leaning towards Liu Wen; Xu Dong certainly did not want to give others any leverage against him.

“Brother Xu Dong, don’t be impatient, hear me out.

The person I’m asking for, Jing Yan, I heard he has joined the Alchemist Association, but he is also an Outer Court student of Dao Yi Academy.

As a student of Dao Yi, he violated the Academy’s rules, and our Criminal Punishment Hall needs to apprehend and try him,” Mu Xi shook his head first, then nodded as he spoke.

If Jing Yan were merely a member of the Alchemist Association, and not a student of Dao Yi Academy, Mu Xi’s request for Xu Dong to hand him over would meet with strong resistance.

But Jing Yan was both a member of the Association and a student of Dao Yi Academy, providing Mu Xi with a reason to have Xu Dong hand over Jing Yan.

And given their relationship, Mu Xi felt that Xu Dong should also give him this courtesy.
