The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 317: Chapter 317: It Seems Certain Death Chapter 317: Chapter 317: It Seems Certain Death Shu Ling, the Dean of the Outer Court, landed in front of Jing Yan.

Jiao Yan was a Deacon of the Criminal Punishment Hall, and while Shu Ling had no authority over him, in terms of status, a deacon of the Criminal Punishment Hall was still considered slightly inferior to the Director of the Outer Court.

Therefore, when Jiao Yan saw Shu Ling, he withdrew his Primordial Energy.

“Dean Shu Ling, what is the meaning of this?” Jiao Yan was somewhat dissatisfied with Shu Ling’s interference in his execution of Jing Yan.

“Jing Yan is an Outer Court student, but not a regular one.

Even if Jing Yan is guilty, and the Criminal Punishment Hall wants to put him on trial, I believe I, as the Director of the Outer Court, should also have the right to be informed.

I want to know the basis on which the Criminal Punishment Hall has convicted Jing Yan, I want to know how grave the crimes committed by Jing Yan really are,” Shu Ling said slowly.

Jing Yan had joined the Dao Yi Academy at Shu Ling’s insistence; of course, she did not want to see Jing Yan die like this.

“The Criminal Punishment Hall acts with evidence.

If Dean Shu Ling wants to know the reason, you can wait until I’ve executed this boy and then be informed by the Law Enforcement Hall,” Jiao Yan said, frowning.

“That won’t do.

Jing Yan is a Martial Artist who has seized the Golden Order; his potential is boundless.

If the Criminal Punishment Hall does not provide me with a reasonable basis, I cannot consent to Jing Yan being executed just like that,” Shu Ling said, shaking her head.

“So, are you determined to stop me and prevent the Criminal Punishment Hall from enforcing the law?

Have you thought about how you will explain this to Vice Hall Master Mu Xi?” Jiao Yan narrowed his eyes and said with a hint of threat.

“If Deacon Jiao Yan plans to threaten me using Elder Mu Xi, I’m afraid you won’t get your wish,” Shu Ling said with a smile.

At this time, the number of onlooking students gathering at a distance was increasing.

From afar, they formed a dense crowd.

Some of the uninformed students were also getting a grasp of the situation after asking around.

Indeed, the matter had escalated.

Now, even Shu Ling, the Director of the Outer Court, was confronting the Criminal Punishment Hall.

“Dean Shu Ling…” Jing Yan stood behind Shu Ling.

“Don’t say anything.

If the Criminal Punishment Hall wants to execute you, I won’t agree,” Shu Ling didn’t turn around; after hearing Jing Yan’s voice, she directly said this.

A simple sentence, yet it was filled with determination.

The Criminal Punishment Hall wanted to execute Jing Yan, and she disagreed.

“Dean Shu Ling, what evidence do you want?”

As Shu Ling and Jiao Yan stood off against each other, a somewhat hoarse voice came.

This voice was clearly not that of Deacon Jiao Yan.

Everyone turned their attention and saw a figure in brown clothes, slowly flying in from the sky.

“Mu Xi?” Jing Yan’s pupils slightly constricted.

He had encountered Mu Xi before; at the Alchemist Association, Mu Xi had intended to take him from the Alchemist Association, but in the end, it was Li Xingjiu, the President of the Alchemist Association, who personally intervened to stop Mu Xi.

“This old bastard!” Jing Yan clenched his teeth.

Before long, Vice Hall Master Mu Xi landed from the air, standing not far to the side of Jiao Yan.

“Elder Mu Xi!” Shu Ling bowed.

Mu Xi was not only a Vice Hall Master of the Criminal Punishment Hall but also an Elder of the Dao Yi Academy.

“Greetings to the Vice Hall Master!” Jiao Yan also bowed in respect.

Mu Xi waved his hand.

“Shu Ling, I ask you, what evidence do you want?” Mu Xi stared at Shu Ling.

“Is it not a fact that Jing Yan first killed High-level Student Qian Bo of the Outer Court and later two members of the Criminal Punishment Hall?”

“But there were reasons for all this!” Shu Ling obviously felt a great deal of pressure in front of Mu Xi.

“Reasons?

Heh, if having reasons allows you to kill at will, then what is the purpose of the Criminal Punishment Hall?” Mu Xi sneered, questioning her.

It had to be said, his words made sense.

The existence of the Criminal Punishment Hall was to deal with students of the Dao Yi Academy who had made mistakes; if students could resolve their own private feuds and grievances, wouldn’t the Criminal Punishment Hall become redundant?

One sentence left Shu Ling speechless.

Not to mention that Shu Ling was just the Director of the Outer Court; even if she were the Chief Master of the Dao Yi Academy, she could not ignore the existence of the Criminal Punishment Hall.

“It seems Jing Yan is bound to die today!”

“Yes, even Vice Hall Master Mu Xi of the Criminal Punishment Hall has intervened, it seems he is determined to execute Jing Yan.”

“Just now, when Dean Shu Ling appeared, I thought Jing Yan might spare his life.

I didn’t expect that Vice Hall Master Mu Xi of the Criminal Punishment Hall would personally come out to kill Jing Yan!”

“Tsk tsk…

It’s truly shocking.

One Jing Yan has actually caused so many important figures to intervene.

These big shots are not usually so easily seen.”

“Dean Shu Ling definitely can’t save Jing Yan, the Criminal Punishment Hall has an extraordinary position in our Dao Yi Academy, if the Criminal Punishment Hall wants Jing Yan dead, Dean Shu Ling has no way to stop it!”

Whispered conversations spread among the thousands of onlooking students.

They had no connection to Jing Yan; his life or death was of no concern to them.

However, such excitement as today’s was something they wouldn’t want to miss.

“Elder Mu Xi, Jing Yan is only nineteen years old.

He is a warrior who has won the Golden Order.

His future is limitless; he will be able to advance to the Dao Spirit Realm in the near future.

I think we should give him a chance,” Shu Ling kept insisting.

“Shu Ling!” Mu Xi’s voice became harsh.

“Do you think you are in a position to teach me how to do my job?” Mu Xi’s voice was loud, and his expression was stormy.

“Step aside!”

“But…” Shu Ling’s delicate body trembled slightly.

“Shu Ling, do you think you can stop me?

Well, let me put it this way, Jing Yan is as good as dead today!

That’s right, I am determined to kill Jing Yan!” Mu Xi’s chilling voice carried a bone-penetrating murderous intention.

The real reason Mu Xi had made up his mind to kill Jing Yan was not because Jing Yan’s killing of Qian Bo violated the academy’s laws but because he had personally gone to the Alchemist Association and failed to bring Jing Yan back, which had infuriated him.

These days, he had been considering how to get Jing Yan out of the Alchemist Association.

So, when he heard Jing Yan had returned to the Dao Yi Academy and had killed two members of the Criminal Punishment Hall, he immediately rushed over.

He blamed Jing Yan for the loss of face at the Alchemist Association.

Deacon Jiao Yan, with a cruel smile at the corner of his mouth, flashed a look at Shu Ling.

It was clear he was feeling very comfortable and satisfied at this moment.

“Vice Hall Master, let me execute this boy!” Jiao Yan volunteered to take on the task of executing Jing Yan.

“There is no need.

To kill Jing Yan, I will act personally,” Mu Xi turned to glance at Jiao Yan and said coldly.

“Step aside!” Mu Xi called out to Shu Ling again.

“Dean Shu Ling, please step aside,” Jing Yan sighed inwardly.

He knew very well that even if Dean Shu Ling didn’t step aside, she would definitely not be able to stop Mu Xi, the Vice Hall Master of the Criminal Punishment Hall.

Jing Yan was now considering whether he could enter the Manager’s Mansion before Mu Xi caught up, relying on the Sky Wings Body Technique.

Once in the Manager’s Mansion, it would be virtually impossible for Mu Xi to kill him.

Mu Liantian would certainly not let Mu Xi kill him.

Moreover, Mu Xi probably wouldn’t dare break into the Manager’s Mansion directly!

However, Jing Yan was uncertain about how strong Mu Xi really was.
