The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 318: Chapter 318: Making a Grand Entrance Chapter 318: Chapter 318: Making a Grand Entrance Regarding Sky Wings, Jing Yan had already mastered two levels, and when fully activated, general Martial Artists of the Dao Spirit Realm couldn’t catch up with him.

However, the problem was that Mu Xi, the old bastard, was definitely not an ordinary Martial Artist of the Dao Spirit Realm.

Jing Yan feared that Mu Xi would immediately pursue him as soon as he made a move.

Jing Yan’s eyes were fixed on Mu Xi!

He wasn’t confident that his speed was faster than Mu Xi’s.

But if Mu Xi were really about to make a move, Jing Yan would only have to fight with all he had!

“Shu Ling, I’m telling you for the last time, get out of the way!” Mu Xi took a sudden step forward, his Primordial Energy surging violently toward Shu Ling.

It seemed that if Shu Ling didn’t step aside, he was willing to deal with her as well.

“Crack, crack!” Shu Ling, obviously unable to contend with Mu Xi.

Under the terrible pressure, Shu Ling kept retreating, her face turning pale, the gap in strength between the two was indeed very large.

“Jing Yan, you disregard Dao Yi Academy’s rules, openly despise Dao Yi Academy’s Criminal Punishment Hall, your crime is unpardonable!

Now, I shall execute you as the law demands!” Mu Xi flipped his Palm Seal, ready to strike at Jing Yan.

“Hisss!” Jing Yan activated his Primordial Energy, Sky Wings ready to be unleashed!

“What’s happening here?

Why is it so lively?” A hoarse old voice thundered.

“Hall Master Lin Yan?”

“Hall Master Lin Yan has arrived!”

When the old voice sounded, the crowd then saw a figure descend from the sky.
The person was none other than the Affairs Hall Master, Lin Yan.

“Vice Hall Master Mu Xi!” Lin Yan squinted his eyes, looking toward Mu Xi.

“Hall Master Lin Yan!” Mu Xi bowed slightly toward Lin Yan.

The Affairs Hall might not be as awe-inspiring as the Criminal Punishment Hall, but the importance of Dao Yi Academy’s Affairs Hall was undeniable.

Even promotions to the Inner Court had to be applied for through the Affairs Hall.

Thus, the status of the Affairs Hall Master might be slightly less than that of the Punishment Hall Master, but Mu Xi was just a Vice Hall Master of the Punishment Hall, and in front of Lin Yan, he still dared not act too recklessly.

Moreover, Lin Yan was also an elder of Dao Yi Academy.

“Hehe, what has happened to cause the Criminal Punishment Hall to mobilize such a force?” Lin Yan chuckled, scanned the people around, and asked.

“Hall Master Lin Yan, here is the situation!

Outer Court Student Jing Yan has violated the rules of Dao Yi Academy, and now the Affairs Hall is about to execute him for his crimes!” Mu Xi explained.

“Oh?” Lin Yan’s gaze shifted to Jing Yan, surprised, he said, “Jing Yan is just a High-level Student of the Outer Court, is he really worth Vice Hall Master Mu Xi’s personal involvement?

Jing Yan, what outrageous acts have you committed to make Vice Hall Master Mu Xi so furious?”

Lin Yan’s words were clearly deliberate.

It was impossible that he didn’t know why the Criminal Punishment Hall targeted Jing Yan, his words implied that the Criminal Punishment Hall was making a big deal out of a small issue.

“Hall Master Lin Yan, I didn’t expect the Criminal Punishment Hall to take me so seriously either,” Jing Yan said with a smile.

“Boy, you really know how to cause trouble!” Lin Yan shook his head, “You applied for a promotion to the Inner Court, and the result is out; you can take the assessment any time.

Jing Yan, you know I am very busy.

So, how about this, accompany me to the Heavenly Ladder now for the assessment!”

Mu Xi’s expression immediately darkened upon hearing these words.

Lin Yan’s intention was very clear; he wanted to take Jing Yan for the assessment.

Lin Yan, what exactly are you trying to do?

You know the Criminal Punishment Hall is conducting a trial against Jing Yan, yet you want to take him away, isn’t this opposing the Criminal Punishment Hall?

Mu Xi’s face suddenly couldn’t be maintained.

If it was in private, it wouldn’t be much of an issue, as Lin Yan was the Affairs Hall Master, he had to give Lin Yan face.

But now, with so many people watching, he, Mu Xi, wanted to execute Jing Yan, while Lin Yan was trying to take Jing Yan away.

Lin Yan’s actions were essentially slapping Mu Xi publicly!

“Hall Master Lin Yan, I’m afraid that’s not possible, the trial against Jing Yan hasn’t finished, he can’t go anywhere,” Mu Xi said darkly.

“I’m just taking Jing Yan to undergo the Inner Court promotion assessment,” Lin Yan spread his hands and said.

“Is Hall Master Lin Yan trying to interfere with the work of the Criminal Punishment Hall?” Mu Xi’s face turned ashen as he demanded.

“Of course not, I am the master of the Affairs Hall, how could I interfere with the work of the Criminal Punishment Hall?

Vice Hall Master Mu Xi, rest assured, once the assessment is over, whatever the Criminal Punishment Hall decides to do with him is none of my business.

I’m merely doing my job,” Lin Yan said with a smile.

Although Lin Yan still wore a smile and his tone was gentle, everyone could tell that he was determined to take Jing Yan away.

Hua Kaizhi and Shu Ling both sighed in relief at this time.

With Hall Master Lin Yan stepping in, Jing Yan’s life should be temporarily safe.

And once Jing Yan passed the assessment and got promoted to the Inner Court, he would attract the attention of many elders, and at that point, how the Criminal Punishment Hall judged Jing Yan would no longer be solely decided by Mu Xi, the Vice Hall Master.

Within Dao Yi Academy, even though the Criminal Punishment Hall also supervised Inner Court Students, if the Criminal Punishment Hall wanted to issue a death sentence, it must also get the Dean’s consent, or at least, the Vice Chancellor’s permission.

The Criminal Punishment Hall did not have the authority to directly execute Inner Court Students.

Mu Xi, Jiao Yan, and others all had unpleasant expressions.

Hall Master Lin Yan was taking Jing Yan away, and they couldn’t simply stop him.

“Jing Yan, what are you waiting for?

Come with me!” Lin Yan said to Jing Yan again.

“Yes!” Jing Yan responded joyfully.

“Hall Master Lin Yan, your matter is not urgent!”

Just then, another old man dressed in a white robe appeared.

This white-robed elder had a gentle expression and was squinting slightly as he looked at Hall Master Lin Yan.

“Hall Master Ying Youque!” Lin Yan saw the man, slightly frowned, and slightly bowed as a greeting.

Ying Youque, the Punishment Hall Master, an Upper Elder of Dao Yi Academy!

In Zao Dao Yi Academy, elders were also divided into Upper Elders and Lower Elders.

The Punishment Hall Master was typically held by Upper Elders in rotation.

Upper Elders held high status and significant authority, not something Lower Elders could compare with.

Like Lin Yan and Mu Xi, they were Lower Elders.

There were more Lower Elders, but only three Upper Elders in total.

The Dean, Vice Chancellor, and Upper Elders were the top management of the academy.

If the academy faced major issues, they were typically resolved through discussions among the Dean, Vice Chancellor, and Upper Elders; Lower Elders also had the right to participate and give suggestions, but their influence was much weaker.

“Hall Master Lin Yan!

Jing Yan violated the academy’s rules, and the Criminal Punishment Hall is responsible for judging him.

I heard what you just said, you want to take Jing Yan for the Inner Court promotion assessment first, this is not allowed.

The Criminal Punishment Hall must judge him first,” Ying Youque said in a calm voice, which carried an undeniable and imperious tone.
