Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1445: Chapter 1446: Eloping to a Mountain Cave

Cheng Su had Qi Fengping take Gou Sheng into her room to calm him down, and watched coldly as Qi Taiguo harshly scolded Deng Weixia, calling him shameless, morally corrupt, irresponsible, and utterly berating him.

Cheng Su poured him a glass of water.

”You still have the nerve to come here. Why don’t you just die out there?” Qi Taiguo took the water, drank a sip, and sat down with Cheng Su before continuing to scold: ”Because of what you did, your aunt almost died from a stroke. Luckily, she was rescued. If she had died, Deng Weixia, you would never wash away the guilt of a lifetime.”

Deng Weixia was startled, ”My mother, she...”

Cheng Su said blandly, ”After you left, your aunt was so angry that she had brain bleeding. She’s okay now, but she can’t move well, has to use a cane, and her mouth is crooked too. Weiqiu has to take care of her, which makes it hard for her to find a partner because she’s tied down with a sick mother. Life is really tough for her. And the stir you’ve caused has brought great disgrace to the Deng family in your village.”

Deng Weixia and Liu Wenjing’s expressions changed.

”I’m not a human being; I’m unfilial; I’m not a man.” Deng Weixia suddenly started slapping himself, while Liu Wenjing stood by crying.

Qi Taiguo watched coldly, sneering, ”Unfilial, of course, you’re unfilial; you’re damn unfit to be a man.”

”I... I have no other way. My mother insisted on finding a partner for me and wouldn’t let Wenjing remarry. I didn’t want this either.” Deng Weixia knelt, weeping.

Cheng Su suddenly felt a wave of disgust.

”So you chose to elope? Elope with your sister-in-law, such a disgraceful thing, it’s a wonder you weren’t drowned in a pig cage.” Qi Taiguo coldly remarked, ”Doing something like this, you can never hold your head up, is it worth it?”

”Those who elope are immoral. It’s nothing for the two of you, but what about the child? The little one hasn’t even been registered yet, has he?” Cheng Su added.

The two hung their heads, crying softly.

Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo exchanged a glance and sighed.

”Get up and talk, don’t kneel to me. If you want to kneel, go kneel in front of your aunt and your brother’s memorial tablet.” Qi Taiguo said coldly.

These words caused both of them to shiver.

Deng Weixia stood up from the floor, seeming a bit numb from kneeling so long, almost stumbled, but managed to stand.

Sitting down again, Cheng Su poured them each another cup of tea.

”Speak, where have you been for the past year?” Qi Taiguo sat upright, with the demeanor of interrogating criminals.

Deng Weixia replied, ”Actually, we didn’t go far. We didn’t dare to. We just went to the neighboring Shan County. Initially, we rented a place in the county, but people from our hometown recognized us. We got scared. There’s a Zhouzi Mountain over there, so we found a cave in the mountain to live in.”

Cheng Su inhaled sharply.

Qi Taiguo grew even angrier, thinking they had been in that city the whole time, but they had actually hidden in the mountains, found a cave—unbelievable.

”The cave is big, with water. We bought things in the county to furnish it, and it felt like home. We also...” Deng Weixia glanced at Liu Wenjing, and slowly said, ”We also got married in the eyes of heaven and earth, becoming husband and wife. Later, Wenjing was pregnant, and on the mountain, I occasionally hunted pheasants and such, enough to be self-sufficient. When I caught something big, I could secretly sell it in the county for some money. I even sent money home twice. Just like that, a year passed...”

Hearing this, Cheng Su couldn’t help but sneer, looking at Liu Wenjing. Was this life worth the sacrifice of reputation to elope for?
