Summoners: One Golden Term per Level

Chapter 91: Chapter 91: The Internet Is Not Above the Law

After Shen Fei’s results were announced, they immediately sparked discussions among everyone in Wu Xia who was closely following the college entrance examination, mainly because although this year’s examination had undergone changes.

The reform just shifted from an assessment system to an elimination system, and the final task changed from going to Abyss Edge to going to Abyss.

However, the first two stages were the same as in previous years’ exams.

That’s why they suspected Shen Fei of cheating. How could he complete the entire examination in just six minutes, despite the 30 waves of monster attacks?

At the top level of Nanyue Province.

Han Min picked up the ringing phone beside him and, seeing the caller ID, casually answered, ”What’s going on in your South China Area? Did you tamper with the Dragon Gate Tower’s sub-tower?”

”Don’t talk nonsense, old man. If I had the ability to tamper with the Dragon Gate Tower, do you think I’d still be holding the position of Commander? I could sit in your seat.”

”Such disrespect, calling the teacher an old man. At least give me an explanation, the other military regions have called.”

”Can’t the Dragon Gate Main Tower mobilize all student information?

Just mobilize and broadcast it directly.” Han Min said this, only then realizing this old man was in charge of the Dragon Gate Tower.

He surely knew the situation.

Likely went to investigate immediately after the results came out.

But he still made the call, and even though Han Min wasn’t keen on political nuances, he understood this old man was probably inquiring about Shen Fei.

”What’s the deal with Shen Fei?”

Indeed.

”To him, a hero’s background, he’s one of us.”

”Well, that’s fine.”

The other side hung up the phone, and Han Min glanced at the disconnected call. This old man certainly was practical; if he wasn’t one of us.

Even if clarified, he might only say, ”No issue with the Dragon Gate Tower,” but take no action, leaving misunderstandings as they were.

If he was one of us, well, that’s different, it would be clarified.

But adding the storyline’s video evidence would make it entirely different.

”Is the dispute that intense?”

Han Min frowned slightly; it’s rare for an old man to use such tactics when Shen Fei wasn’t backed by their Breaking Abyss Army.

The old man planned to use public opinion to pressure his backing forces to probe deeper, and for someone who has always controlled the situation to act this way.

It can only mean that the situation’s clarity is muddled and he can’t allow any information outside his grasp to slip through.

”Demons... season of trouble.”

Han Min exhaled, while Fang Yuan was standing up, carefully running to Han Min’s side, ”Commander, this shouldn’t escalate, right?

You know Shen Fei is just a child who doesn’t know better; if it causes trouble for the Commander...”

Han Min turned his head to look at Fang Yuan, ”What trouble could there be? Being too exceptional is trouble? Don’t worry, those discussions will soon disappear outside.

Blaming others for being too good when you’re not capable? Where’s that arrogance coming from.”

”Exactly.”

Fang Yuan breathed a sigh of relief, understanding how much public opinion can influence a young person. Although Shen Fei truly excels on his own merit, the problem arises if there’s no official clarification.

The outcome would be different, many can’t imagine situations that entirely surpass their understanding.

”Is it possible the Dragon Gate Tower malfunctioned, that Shen Fei’s scenario wasn’t Hell Difficulty but Ordinary Difficulty?”

”The Dragon Gate Tower has been around for so long, shouldn’t have any issues.”

”But not necessarily, the Dragon Gate Tower is man-made, just like scenarios in the city, they cause problems when worn out.”

...

Some principals whispered behind the scenes.

Even though some principals witnessed Shen Fei’s achievement firsthand, they still had doubts, not about Shen Fei cheating.

But whether the Dragon Gate Tower malfunctioned.

Han Min tapped the table, quieting the slightly noisy conference hall due to discussions, ”Shen Fei didn’t cheat, and there’s no issue with the Dragon Gate Tower. The military commander has accessed the control of the Dragon Gate Main Tower, and the video of Shen Fei’s completion will soon be presented to the public.

If you suspect the military commander assisted Shen Fei in cheating, feel free to report.

Once he said this, the principals who had fleeting ideas fell silent.

Report the military commander?

He’s the top figure in Breaking Abyss Army, and the actual authority in Wu Xia, entirely untouchable, and who would you report him to?

Fang Yuan chuckled, these people were simply envious of Shen Fei, but unfortunately, Shen Fei hailed from Shencheng First High School.

Just about to turn back to his seat, Han Min said blandly, ”Just sit next to me, this time Shencheng First High School brought honor to our South China Area.

I can already imagine the expressions on other commanders’ faces, hahaha.”

”Thank you for indulging me, Commander.”

Fang Yuan was somewhat flattered, although he should be older than Han Min, Han Min’s strength and status were higher, even his teacher had to show respect when meeting him at Imperial University.

He thought his future prospects had ended, but unexpectedly his student single-handedly extended them.

”Why wouldn’t you deserve this? You’re indeed a fairly good principal, at least you didn’t neglect talented students due to the Jiang Family’s influence.

Otherwise, you wouldn’t be sitting here either.”

Fang Yuan sighed in relief hearing Han Min, Han Governor must have investigated Shen Fei, if he’d abandoned Shen Fei due to Jiang Family.

The principal position of Shencheng First High School would have been replaced.

Previously protecting Shen Fei, partly because he genuinely felt Shen Fei had great talent and would accomplish significant things, and partly fulfilling his duty as a teacher.

Other principals envied Fang Yuan sitting beside Han Min, their eyes almost spilling over with envy, darn, Fang Yuan was surely on a bright path from now on.

Why wasn’t Shen Fei from their school!!

...

Outside.

The discussion about whether Shen Fei cheated was already roiling, as time had passed and the other students’ results hadn’t yet come out.

But Shen Fei’s results still prominently displayed.

Just as everyone intended to question the fairness of the examination, a video emerged.

The video was short, 00:06:11.

And inside was a video of Empress and Plague Doctor in action, alongside commentary explaining the type of magic the Empress used, its effects.

The type of magic Plague Doctor used, its effects, along with their clear prior conversations.

Upon seeing Empress casually use magic to dissolve twenty corpses, and utilize earth magic to shake out hidden corpses underground, then dissolve them with magic.

And Plague Doctor’s one-hand poison magic, the video even magnified the process of his magic working on underground corpses.

This video left those initially doubting with slaps on their faces, plunging them into silence.

”After comprehensive adjudication, Shen Fei is determined to have displayed no cheating behavior.”

”Cheating allegations will be dealt with severely.”

”Remember, the internet is not a lawless place, and freedom of speech does not mean reckless defamation!”
