The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 149: I hate children...

It’s been 20 days already, so I should go pick up my student who is now causing a ruckus in the Dead Forest of Mana.

’Tsk, she’s just like her sister.’ Both are beings that lost control and went out causing mayhem during their training.

It started out well enough, after the demon king turned into his real form, though incomplete, he managed to kill an S-class group.

However, after eliminating that S-class group, she didn’t return to her normal form and continued killing everything she encountered in a continuous and uncontrolled manner, her body began to wander through the forest, torturing and killing any living thing it found.

”I, Thalruk Acheron, command the world to move.” I use an enchantment, making the entire library instantly appear above the area where my troublemaking student is killing monsters.

I start flying and descend, hovering a bit above the area where my student is. I see her torturing a monster just for fun.

’I hate kids...’

”Rebellious student, this is an order from your master. Return to your normal form or I’ll force you to.” I say to her as I watch what she’ll do.

She notices my presence and her playful smile disappears as she assumes a serious expression. She kills the monster and prepares to fight.

’I see she won’t obey...’ She attacks with thousands of darkness lances.

I simply wave my hand to the left, and all the lances shatter. In an instant, I’m in front of my rebellious student, and I kick her stomach, using my mana.

Her face clearly shows pain as her body dissolves into a black mass and retreats from me.

’I bet nothing has been able to really damage her since she transformed, so this must be a surprise for her.’ My rebellious student has an expression of anger as she looks at me after having retreated.

She begins to chant several spells at once.

”[Cancel]” All the mana she was accumulating disperses, canceling the spells she was about to cast. She looks at me in shock, honestly, it’s like a child seeing something they’ve never seen before and don’t understand.

She uses the black sludge that makes up her body to generate giant darkness spikes.

I position my hand and snap my fingers, using my mana.

A deafening sound occurs as a massive shockwave happens just from my finger snap, making her liquid form tremble completely.

While damage around us is visible.

’I need to force her to return to normal form without killing her...’ This is so annoying. There’s no magic to do that, so I have to deal with this child through pain.

She easily notices that I’m much stronger, but just like a child, she keeps trying to attack me non-stop.

Each of her attacks proves ineffective, as she doesn’t have enough power to really hurt me.

My rebellious student decides to change tactics and starts fighting hand-to-hand, using weapons and her tail to try to gain an advantage, but I easily block each blow since she’s slow to me.

I give her another punch, sending her flying while she moans in pain. Her body dissolves and she enters the ground, trying to use it to attack me.

’Natural for her to try that...’ I kick the ground, causing an earthquake while the pressure of my blow compacts the earth so firmly that it expels her body from the ground since there are no cracks for her to enter.

I approach her again and start punching her face repeatedly, infusing each blow with mana.

”Return to your normal form or I’ll keep beating you.” I’m not this child’s parent, why do I have to do this? If this rebellious student wasn’t Azraelith’s younger sister, I’d never have accepted training her.

After a sequence of blows, I step back and see her crying. It’s a bit strange because even the tears are this black goo, so to someone who doesn’t know this act, they wouldn’t really notice.

She uses an ability, covering the entire area with darkness, while a slight weakness hits me.

’A piece of the Abyss? How can this girl summon that to the world?’ Now I’m curious. It’s not normal to be able to bring a piece of the Abyss to the world.

She wipes her tears while resuming her attack. I hold back the urge to laugh. It’s annoying, but funny how she’s just a child in the end.

I break this piece of the Abyss, and my rebellious student has a shocked expression.

’I wonder if deep down she understands what she’s doing, or if she’s simply completely adrift in her own mind.’ The feeling of freedom that comes with transformation is incredible.

But it’s also dangerous. If we drift in our own minds, the body will simply act on its own, following our will. In the end, it can cause our death, as we don’t have the intelligence to devise complex plans.

I bind my rebellious student in a containment spell, preventing any movement.

’I think if she feels enough pain, she’ll understand...’ I use gravity magic, crushing her body against the ground, and continue increasing the weight until it’s equivalent to a large continent on top of her.

Her body entered a completely liquid state from being crushed against the ground.

’I think an approach similar to the one I used with Azraelith should work.’ I approach the black sludge being pressed against the ground.

”Listen well, rebellious student. I’m not a threat, think of me as... a father figure, if that helps. I need you to return to your normal form,” I say, trying to use a gentle tone.

I took this approach with Azraelith after trying to calm her for 2 months. Azraelith was incredibly rebellious and didn’t want to return to her normal form, so even though she was hurt, she kept attacking me.

However, through this, I discovered many things about the Tenebris Abyssus, and the main thing is that they are very needy for family-like things. So my approach with Azraelith was to make her see me as a father figure, so that she would obey.

I think the reason they are so needy for family is because the goddess of the Abyss wanted to ensure that her descendants, who are naturally dangerous and violent beings, would not betray her. So the way to avoid this problem was to make them extremely needy for family and those they love, so they could never betray the mother who gave them life.

I notice the black sludge has stopped resisting much. Since I’m also a monster, it’s possible to take this approach, as she understands that I’m also a monster. But it wouldn’t work if a human tried this approach.

’It won’t be that easy... Probably will attack me as soon as I stop using gravity.’ I need to show her that her chances of victory against me are nil. I need to make her understand that her life ends if I want it to.

For the Tenebris Abyssus, the concept of cowardice is strange, because they don’t care much if the enemy is stronger they tend to keep attacking, even at the cost of their own life, precisely because they get stronger in dangerous situations.

That’s why what I want to show her is that even though I could kill her, I chose not to. I want to show that I’m a figure who won’t hurt her, just like a family member would.

I remove the gravity while transforming into my true form. My race is [Ether Guardian].

As I transform, what is visible is a large, translucent serpent with a bluish-green spectral appearance. My body is around 2 kilometers long, and I’m surrounded by a kind of blue-flamed aura.

The aura around me makes my rebellious student tremble with fear. She’s ready to attack me, but has paused momentarily.

I’m the only one of my race, created to protect that library, so of course my power is immense, although I’m obviously weaker than the Demon King with all his power.

But to this current rebellious student, I must seem invincible. Yet, even with fear, she’s clearly ready to attack me.

My body circles around her while I bring my head close to my rebellious student, who looks at me with clear defiance in her eyes.

”Listen well, rebellious student. You must now return to your normal form. That’s an order.” My voice reverberates through the area, and my mana pushes any nearby monsters away.

I move my body to form a conical shape, trapping her while leaving only my head here for her to face.

She’s still rebellious and attacks me again, and we continue this for hours. Whenever she attacks, I crush her against the ground with gravity magic until she starts crying. When she cries, I stop and wait for her to attack me again.

Kids are energetic and hyperactive. I don’t expect her to obey me just with a few words.

We go on like this for at least 2 days. Each time she attacked, my next attack was stronger to really hurt her. She’s annoyingly resilient, but the attacks are slowly getting weaker.

It’s clear she’s reached her limit, as she hasn’t rested for days while using her power without any self-control, just seeking deaths and fun.

’I think that’s enough.’ I bite her body, forcing it to solidify with magic. My rebellious student becomes somewhat desperate, trying to push me away. For her, it must be similar to dying.

When I did this to Azraelith, she described the feeling as dying for a few moments, as my venom is something that induces the feelings of fear, death, and extreme terror.

Soon, I open my mouth, releasing her. She falls to the ground in great pain, her body trembling in agony.

’She should be fine.’ I place her on my body and start flying with magic to ascend to the island.

While I’m rising to the island, she hugs me, as if seeking something to comfort her pain, and the sludge of her body starts to drip as I feel the warmth of her hands and the tears that fall on my scales.

’She’s returning to normal... It was about time.’ It took longer than I’d like. She probably won’t remember much of what happened during that time.

But next time she transforms again, it will be easier to deal with her. Even though I hate taking care of children, I still find it interesting.

The reason she’s crying is also obvious. It’s not very comfortable to be torn from our own consciousness. It’s like being in a safe, warm place where there are no problems, and suddenly being pulled into a cold, dark place.

Since this is the first time she’s entered this form, it’s natural for it not to be good or comfortable to return to a common humanoid form. After all, we are monsters, and being in our true forms is more liberating.

The humanoid form is like a containment, as if we were compressing something gigantic into a small bottle, compressing our essence into something more compact. At first, it’s really uncomfortable, but over time, the discomfort fades.
