CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1944: Chapter 1952: Hard to Believe

”Speak,” James Carter hung up the phone, then leaned on his cane and walked step by step back to Jane Sampson’s side.

At this time, Jane Sampson had already finished tweeting and was browsing related topics on the hot list using James Black’s Twitter.

A sentence was stuck in James Carter’s throat for a long time before he finally said, ”Jillian said she has nothing to do with this matter.”

Jane Sampson’s eyelids twitched, ”Brother, do you believe her?”

Without waiting for James Carter to speak, Jane Sampson said word by word, ”Jillian’s words, not even one, I don’t believe.”

”Brother, believing Jillian is your business, and I understand you, because everyone has a subconscious, Jillian grew up with you, you’ve seen her innocence, but I’m different. From the very first moment I saw her, Jillian had no goodwill towards me.”

Jane Sampson said seriously, ”Plus the things that happened afterward, it’s very hard for me to trust her.”

James Carter was speechless, because, at first, he didn’t believe Jillian either.

Jane Sampson is also right, Jillian never showed Jane Sampson any kindness from the beginning, so after the incident, it’s unreasonable to expect Jane Sampson to trust her.

Moreover, to be honest, speaking truthfully, Jillian isn’t completely innocent in this matter.

At least, she really did hire paparazzi to keep an eye on Jane Sampson, it’s just that she’s not the one who leaked the photos.

But without the people she hired, perhaps he and Jane Sampson would have peacefully continued filming without being targeted.

Naturally, none of these later events would have occurred.

”Brother,” Jane Sampson said, ”You say you believe Jillian didn’t do it, so, I also hope it really wasn’t her, but...”

At this point, Jane Sampson paused, her gaze turned slightly cold.

”If this matter is unrelated to Jillian, then fine, but if Jillian did it,” Jane Sampson said, ”then, in the Carter Family, it’s either me or her, it can’t be both.”

James Carter’s heart skipped a beat.

This was the first time he’d heard such cold and harsh words from Jane Sampson after all these years of knowing her.

Yet, he couldn’t say a bad word about her.

Because he understood the worries in Jane Sampson’s heart and also understood the anger in her heart.

No one has a true obligation to forever accommodate and tolerate Jillian.

Especially not Jane Sampson, the real daughter of the Carter family, who had to endure Jillian living a happy life in her place for over two decades. She has even less obligation.

”You believe, but I don’t believe, so I will investigate,” Jane Sampson said, ”If it’s unrelated to Jillian, then fine, but if she really did it, then I, Jane Sampson, am not someone who’s soft-hearted.”

”The paparazzi were hired by her, but the photo leak was unrelated to her. She said the paparazzi asked her for a million last night, saying they would use those photos, and she refused,” James Carter said, ”If she’s lying about this too, then in the Carter Family, there’ll only be you.”

That was James Carter’s stance.

Jane Sampson smiled and said, ”Alright.”

The director hurriedly came over after a while, greeted them, and said, ”Come with me. The hotel we’re staying at has been blocked by reporters. I’ve booked another hotel and a press conference will be held there in two and a half hours, in the form of live streaming. Let’s head to the hotel first and wait.”
