CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1902: Chapter 1910: The Monkey Proclaims Himself King

Jane Sampson thought for a few seconds, reckoning that her answer should be no, so she shook her head.

This time, it was James Carter’s turn to laugh. He said casually, ”I can understand why you’re not clingy with your brother-in-law.”

Since there were no other people here, James Carter referred to James Black as brother-in-law.

”What?” Jane Sampson and the director asked in unison.

”Just one sentence, in the mountain, with no tiger, the monkey calls himself king.” James Carter patted Jane Sampson’s head, laughing, ”James Black is the tiger, you are the Monkey King of Sampson, with James Black not around, you’re happy as a clam and secretly rejoice.”

Jane Sampson and the director were silent for two seconds, then the director burst into hearty laughter, with a low threshold for humor, laughing so hard he almost cried.

Jane Sampson felt she had to say something to explain, something to cover up.

”Actually, I am quite clingy with him; if I’m with him, I’m very happy to stick close to him,” Jane Sampson said, ”It’s all about balance.”

”Yes, balance, balance is important, even between husband and wife, there needs to be balance. James, your sister Jillian is really clingy to you.” The director advised James Carter, patting him on the shoulder, ”Your sister is already married, and you both know well, Jillian Carter and you are not blood-related, so even as siblings in name, you have to maintain a proper distance, or else how can you be sure your brother-in-law doesn’t feel uncomfortable about it?”

”I know.” When James Carter said this ’I know,’ he meant he understood what the director was hinting at.

”Alright, let’s get moving. Today’s schedule is light, so we can wrap up early and all go out together for a nice meal. We’ve been eating boxed rice for over two months, I’m getting tired of it myself.” The director clapped his hands, calling the nearby resting personnel to their positions.

Only then did Jane Sampson put down the script she was holding and walk to the front.

James Carter walked two steps ahead of her. Jane Sampson watched James Carter’s back, somewhat distracted.

Just now, when James Carter was making a call with Jillian Carter, she heard it, and because she was standing close, she roughly heard some of what Jillian and James said.

She knew that James Carter used the excuse of being busy with filming, having to work late, to refuse Jillian’s invitations for dinner and a late-night snack.

But in reality, as the director said, today’s schedule wasn’t heavy.

James Carter lied to Jillian Carter.

Even when Jillian repeatedly mentioned her, James Carter didn’t ask anything about her.

Lost in thought, Jane Sampson didn’t notice when James Carter stopped, bumping her forehead right into his back.

Luckily, she was walking slowly, so she didn’t knock James Carter to the ground.

”What are you thinking about so intently?” James Carter grabbed Jane Sampson’s arm to steady her, noticing her looking at him, appearing hesitant to speak. James Carter let go, smiling, ”Get ready; we’re about to start.”

Jane Sampson nodded, quickly finding her emotions and entering the role.

The director stood by, watching Jane Sampson quickly transform from the Monkey King of Sampson into the female lead, and praised Jane Sampson in his heart.

Today’s filming went smoothly. Over five o’clock, Jane Sampson and James Carter’s group wrapped up first. The director called people to arrange an extra meal for those who still had to shoot in the evening, then urged this group to head out together for a feast.
