CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1736: Chapter 1744: Ugly Stuff

James Black nodded, thought for a moment, and asked again, ”Has she left?”

The team member looked bewildered and shook his head, ”Chief, I don’t know, I just came on duty for ten plus minutes; I didn’t see sister-in-law leave while I was on watch.”

James Black responded with an ”Hmm” and asked no more. Considering her evening drama schedule didn’t seem that rushed, she might still be in his dormitory.

The phone wasn’t answered; she might be sleeping.

James Black quickly headed to the dormitory.

Key in hand, unlocking the door, and closing it was done in one go.

Seeing Jane Sampson’s shoes at the doorway splayed out just like her personality, one to the left and one to the right, James Black chuckled with a smile at the corner of his mouth. Bending over to arrange her shoes, he called towards the inside of the house, ”Jane.”

There was no one in the living room, and there was no sound from the kitchen either. The entire dormitory was quiet, making James Black think she was probably still asleep in the bedroom. After arranging the shoes, James Black carried the double-layer milk curd and walked towards the bedroom, carefully quiet to avoid waking the sleeping person, and even the sound of turning the door lock was gentle. Every action was done cautiously.

He knew she was exhausted from filming, so if she was asleep, he didn’t want to disturb her.

Opening the door and seeing the quilt bulging, James Black’s eyes showed a hint of amusement.

She was indeed asleep.

No wonder she didn’t hear the phone ringing, nor him calling her from the doorway.

James Black turned around, first placing the double-layer milk curd on the dinner table before heading back to the bedroom, walking gently to the bedside. Seeing Jane Sampson completely burrowed under the quilt, he reached out to gently tug the quilt, speaking softly, ”Don’t always burrow your head inside the quilt, you need to change your sleeping posture.”

As soon as he said this, James Black’s hand stilled abruptly, immediately realizing something was off with the person under the quilt.

The one sleeping under the quilt wasn’t Jane Sampson.

James Black swiftly yanked the quilt, tossing it onto the ground, staring at the thing on the bed, wondering if it could even be described as lying there?

Oh no, it was a plush doll?

His temple throbbed with a relentless pulsing.

”Jane Sampson!” James Black almost gritted her name through clenched teeth, eyes fixed on the human-shaped cloth doll of the same height as Jane Sampson, nearly fainting from anger.

The plush doll was wearing a cheap long-sleeved dress, and the doll’s face bore a terribly mischievous smile just like Jane Sampson’s.

Beside the plush doll was an envelope, and with a stoic expression, James Black reached out, picked it up, tore it open swiftly, and four cards fell out.

Among them were the peace card, Hug Card, and kiss card.

The remaining card had a few lines written in Jane Sampson’s neat handwriting.

Surprised? Unexpected? This is your Women’s Day gift! You are the only boy in this world who specifically requested to celebrate Women’s Day, so I have prepared a special gift for you.

I’m not by your side, and I know you must be missing me terribly, longing day and night, unable to think of tea or meal, so to relieve your longing, I’ve left a part of me to accompany you.

This part is made as a super A version with a 1:1 scale of me; it can absolutely pass for the real thing!

You can hold my replica to sleep at night! My replica is also very warm!

Finally, wishing my King Black a happy Women’s Day holiday! – Your cute little Jane Sampson.

After reading the card, James Black kicked the ugly thing on the bed straight off the bed.

As luck would have it, the plush doll’s face landed right on the ground level.
