CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1418: Chapter 1426 Shut Up

Jane Sampson knew when to quit while she was ahead. Noticing that James Black glanced her way, she immediately stopped talking and stood there with a dopey smile. While James Black might not shine in the kitchen, he was efficient at getting things done.

Even boiling dumplings, which hardly required any culinary skills, didn’t pose a problem for him. Jane stood by and watched. As James dropped each dumpling in, she provided a different voiceover for the dumplings.

”Yay, time to swim in the sea, daddy let go~ I want to rush into the embrace of the ocean!” It was so childish and milky-voiced that if you didn’t listen carefully, you’d think it was the voice of a seven or eight-year-old girl.

James’s hand that was dropping the dumplings suddenly shook, but he showed no other reaction and continued to put dumplings from the plate into the pot.

”Oh my! It’s actually a pot, I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die~ the brother ahead, what kind of eyes do you have to think this is the sea?” She nailed the Northeastern Chinese accent.

”Oh My Mum! The water is too cold! This dumpling is gonna freeze to death!” An unkempt auntie-like shrill voice emerged again.

”The person upstairs is really funny, you yourself are a quick freezing dumpling and still complain about the cold water!” This was her young girl’s natural voice.

James Black’s eyebrows twitched several times.

”Jane Sampson, shut up,” he finally ran out of patience, ”Go wait in the living room.”

Jane looked at James, blinked her big beautiful innocent eyes, shook her head earnestly, and said, ”No!”

As she spoke, Jane came up from behind James and hugged him, ”I want to be with you.”

Initially annoyed, James was suddenly lost for words. He turned his head to look at Jane, who was still smiling, and he didn’t continue to send her away.

”Don’t you think voiceovers are fun?” Jane asked. ”See, with my voiceover, even the act of you boiling dumplings becomes incredibly artistic.”

”I’m not an artist,” James retorted, but the corners of his lips curled up into a smile anyway.

”If I weren’t an actor, I could make a career out of voice acting too,” Jane was quite interested in her own voice, ”The roles I play are all voiced by myself, and to date, I haven’t heard anyone criticize my lines. The saying ’a great teacher produces an outstanding student’ must be referring to someone like me.”

Jane sang her own praises in front of James without taking a breath, and James, after putting the dumplings in the pot, stirred them gently with a spatula to prevent sticking, while listening to Jane’s chattering from behind.

Nowadays, everywhere has a prohibition on setting off firecrackers, and even fireworks are not allowed in the guard team base, so the New Year’s taste has gradually lost the flavor of childhood. By this time, it’s so quiet at the guard team base that you can’t even feel the atmosphere of Chinese New Year.

Only her voice was livelier than anything else.

Without paying attention, Jane slipped from James’s armpit to the space between him and the stove like a lively monkey. Taking advantage of her slender figure, she wriggled and squeezed in, meanwhile pushing him a step back.

Once she was stable, the pose highly resembled James hugging her from behind, a gesture of intimate affection.

James knew that aside from playing games and memorizing scripts, one couldn’t expect Jane to be calm and quiet. She was clearly like a rabbit.

Always jumping.

”Don’t keep stirring it like that, otherwise the dumplings will burst and leak their filling before they’re cooked, and the exposed dumplings won’t taste good after boiling,” Jane said while taking the spatula from James’s hand, ”Look at you, all clumsy, let me do it.”
