Chapter 1414: Chapter 1422: Going on Stage

”Mr. Carter, rest assured, I’m just nervous at this moment. Once I’m on stage, I definitely won’t hold you back,” Jane Sampson tightened her fist, ”I will definitely show my best and most beautiful side on TV because I know there will be many, many people watching me.”

That’s what she said, but Jane Sampson didn’t dare to check the live stream on her mobile phone, fearing it would make her more nervous. Later, she simply played games on her mobile phone.

During the Chinese New Year, even young people watch the Spring Festival Gala as it’s one of the pastimes of Chinese New Year. Hence, none of Jane’s friends in the game were online. It felt no different from playing a standalone game by herself.

The TV station planned the schedule around James Carter, so the show featuring Jane and James was arranged to be one of the earlier ones, around 10 p.m., and someone came to notify Jane and James to get ready.

Only then did Jane take off her coat and hand it to Lucy Brisk, she looked in the mirror and touched up her makeup and lipstick, and cheered herself up quietly as she looked at her lightly made-up reflection in the mirror.

Come on, Jane Sampson!

James Carter wore a white high-end suit, while Jane was in a white fairy-like chiffon skirt. Her long black hair cascaded down her back like waves, the small face unburdened by heavy makeup, and a touch of red on her lips made her sweetness more pronounced.

James Carter held Jane’s hand as they stepped onto the stage together. Then, he sat in front of the piano while Jane stood straight in the center of the stage. For the stage effect and to fit the atmosphere of the song and Jane’s costume, the entire stage was adorned with thousands of pinkish-white roses freshly plucked from the branches that morning.

At a glance, the stage was a foggy world brimming with countless roses, and Jane stood amidst them, like a fairy stepping out of a painting.

Jane gently closed her eyes, listening to the piano sound from James Carter. Every note of this song was as familiar to her as if it were memories etched within her life.

As James Carter played the piano, his gaze, whenever lifted from the piano, would invariably turn towards the woman in the white dress before him.

The melodious tune and ethereal female voice, coupled with James Carter’s deep magnetic voice, left the audience almost breathlessly engrossed throughout the song.

As the melody soared and broadened, Jane sang with an almost transcendent forgetting of self, slowly opening her eyes, and in that instant, her gaze and James’s met.

Both were singing with deep emotional engagement, rendering this old-style love song profoundly moving and romantically stirring.

James Black had heard Jane’s singing before, informally at home when she was happy, sometimes humming tunes that were barely recognizable, or even cheerfully adapting the lyrics to her whim.

He had also heard Jane’s singing on TV, the theme song about going home, which shook him to his core.

But despite knowing Jane for so many years, and being married to her for many years, he never had the chance to sit in the audience and experience her performance live and hear her singing which enamored the fans so profoundly.

But today, sitting in the audience, he finally felt it.

He felt the fusion of the emotions bursting from within her and her voice, in that second, James Black almost couldn’t control the urge to rush up and hold her tightly.
