CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1415: Chapter 1423: Happy New Year

While singing, she was truly beautiful.

At the end of the song, the audience underneath the stage couldn’t come back to their senses for a long while. It was only after a few seconds that thunderous applause erupted.

James Carter, leaning on his cane, walked slowly to Jane’s side and reached out his hand to her. Their palms touched, and then they bowed in thanks.

Jane felt a sigh of relief in her heart.

She slowly straightened her back, her gaze instinctively sweeping towards the table where Old Master Black and Harper Black sat.

That glance brought a momentary look of surprise to Jane’s eyes, followed by a faint smile slowly appearing at the corner of her mouth.

It was so light, yet it could no longer be hidden.

The person who initially said he might not be free to pick her up was now sitting rigidly beside Old Master Black.

Jane thought that he must have seen her looking at him.

Upon returning backstage, Jane felt so happy she didn’t even feel the cold.

”Mr. Carter, we didn’t let down the efforts of these two months!” Jane said excitedly, ”The performance turned out even better than we initially imagined.”

”Yes, Jane, you were amazing!” James Carter had felt the sweat in Jane’s palm when he held her hand on stage, and while sitting at the piano, he was worried that Jane’s nervousness would affect her performance.

In the beginning, Jane was singing with her eyes closed, following the melody. It was only during the first climax that she opened her eyes and looked over at him.

That moment, when he saw the emotion in the depths of Jane’s eyes, James Carter was reassured. She had immersed herself in the performance, no longer disturbed by the outside world. ”Sister Jane, there’s a call for you.” Harry Little Money came out hurriedly with Jane’s coat.

Jane glanced at the incoming call, it was James Black, and she answered it with a smile.

”I’ll be in the underground parking lot when you’re ready.” James Black said only one sentence before hanging up the phone.

Jane listened to the buzzing sound of the dial tone on her mobile phone, but she wasn’t angry at all.

”Mr. Carter, my husband has come to pick me up. I’m going to change my clothes,” Jane pointed towards the makeup room.

”Go ahead, and be careful not to catch a cold,” James Carter said with a shallow smile, nodding.

Jane hummed in acknowledgment, turned, and ran into the makeup room. It was not until she disappeared that James Carter prepared to leave. However, as he turned, Jane’s voice reached him from behind.

”Mr. Carter, wait a moment!” Jane suddenly ran out again.

James Carter stood still and slowly turned around. Before he could see her clearly, Jane ran towards him and hugged him tightly.

”Mr. Carter, Happy New Year! I wish you good health and happiness forever!” Jane’s voice trembled, whether from cold or emotion, ”Mr. Carter, you don’t know how much your kindness means to me. Thank you so much.”

After saying this, Jane stepped out of James Carter’s embrace, gave him a sweet smile, and then ran back to the makeup room.

James Carter stared at the closed door of the makeup room for a long time in a daze; he didn’t know if his eyes were playing tricks on him, but when Jane ran back, he thought he saw her eyes were red.

James Carter didn’t know why Jane repeatedly kept saying thank you to him.

Just for tonight’s Spring Festival Gala, Jane had already thanked him many, many times.

What favor did he owe her?

He was simply looking for a compatible partner, and that person just happened to be her.
