CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1413: Chapter 1421: Didn’t See Anyone

Grandfather, don’t worry, I will perform well for sure! [Cute] —— James Black’s wife.

Old Master Black set his heart at rest after receiving the reply and took his seat, with Harper Black close next to him. Seeing him using his mobile phone, Harper Black casually asked, ”Dad, who are you chatting with on WhatsApp? Oh right, Jane is backstage, do you want to go see her?”

”No need, going now would only make her nervous,” Old Master Black shook his head, ”I’ve spoken with her on WhatsApp.”

After speaking, Old Master Black looked around and then asked, ”Did that stinker show up yet?”

”Stinker?” Harper Black didn’t catch on when he first heard it and after getting a white eye from Old Sir a few seconds later, he smacked his head, ”Not sure, I’ve been inside the venue all evening, haven’t seen him yet.”

”Let him be then,” Old Master Black waved his hand dismissively, and muttered, ”If he doesn’t have the time to come, it’s better to wait until little Jane finishes her busy work and head back to Black Residence with me.”

Harper Black thought he misheard and was stunned for a few seconds, ”During the New Year, where does Jane want to go if not returning to Black Residence?”

Elder Black rolled his eyes at Harper Black again, ”Only your pig brain could make her want you.”

This was something only his own father could say to insult him; Harper Black swallowed his words back down.

The appearance of Elder Black stirred up the audience section for a bit, and he too got busy greeting people for a while, which is actually the reason why Elder Black did not like to attend this event in previous years.

Once the time came, the Spring Festival Gala officially began.

Jane Sampson, along with Lucy Brisk and Harry Little Money, were in the makeup room. As her stage appearance approached, Jane Sampson dared not to eat anything, other than hot boiled water, she was reluctant to drink anything else as well.

Looking at James Carter, who was leisurely sitting by her side, Jane Sampson felt envious.

”Mr. Carter really isn’t nervous at all,” Jane Sampson remarked, ”I really envy that you can maintain such a mindset.”

”For me, this is just work, no different from any other work. The way I approach my other work is exactly the mindset I have now,” James Carter had sensed Jane Sampson’s nervousness since the morning and had been comforting her all day.

After the morning, Jane Sampson’s mood had clearly adjusted, but to his surprise, as the performance neared, she began to feel nervous again.

”It’s normal to get nervous, though. I was very nervous too the first time I was on the Spring Festival Gala,” James Carter didn’t dare to pressure Jane Sampson, he could feel that she really valued this stage appearance.

From regular training, James Carter could see how serious Jane Sampson was about this participation in the Spring Festival Gala.

Jane Sampson pursues perfection, even during practice, she would not tolerate any mistakes from herself, and if she erred, she would start all over again, repeatedly, tirelessly, again and again, after a whole day, sometimes even James Carter himself felt tired, yet she could continue to persist.

This perseverance of Jane Sampson was also a trait that James Carter found astonishing.

Even, sometimes James Carter would doubt, was Jane Sampson’s scrupulousness and seriousness to the extent that Kendal Smith called her borderline obsessive due just to her demanding standard for herself?

In James Carter’s impression, Jane Sampson wasn’t a very ambitious person in her career; by her nature, she shouldn’t really consider the stage of Spring Festival Gala as a life-changing opportunity.

If this was just treated as a performance, someone with her rich stage experience shouldn’t be this nervous.
