CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 950: Chapter 958 What Call Should I Make

You could tell that Jane Sampson was not someone who was endlessly agreeable in conversation. She wouldn’t have spoken up against Amber Edwards just now if she were.

She has a knack for hitting people where it hurts and, after doing so, she’d rub in some chili powder for good measure.

”But it’s not sustainable for Amber Edwards to keep acting like this. We can delay her scenes for some time, but eventually, we have to shoot them,” the assistant expressed concern on behalf of the director. The daily expenses of this drama are substantial, and each day of delay is another day’s funds wasted.

Up to this point, the finances are still not a worry and are in a sufficient state, but there are many expenses in post-production that need to be accounted for. A few days’ delay is manageable, but if it’s prolonged, who could bear it?

”This evening, I’ll have a few extra drinks with the Vice President of Swan Goose Films and suss out some information,” James Chip thought to himself, though at this moment, he wasn’t sure if it would be feasible.

Seeing that James Chip didn’t elaborate, the assistant tactfully refrained from asking further. Just in time, Jane Sampson returned, leading James Chip to end the topic and wave Jane over to take her place.

Meanwhile, at the Sampton family home.

Lunchtime had long passed when Mother Sampton was surprised to see Father Sampton suddenly coming home.

”Have you had lunch yet? Why are you back at this time?” Mother Sampton got up from the sofa to greet him. Due to the incident with Bright Sampton, Father Sampton had been angry for several days and was short-tempered with Mother Sampton, so she was a little cautious with her words, afraid of inadvertently provoking him again.

”I’m asking you, do you know about Jane Sampson’s good relationship with President Forest of the Forest Clan Group?” Father Sampton unbuttoned the top button of his shirt, loosened his necktie, sat down on the sofa, and called for the Aunt to pour him a cup of water before turning to interrogate Mother Sampton.

Mother Sampton looked puzzled, ”I don’t know about that.”

”It seems you spend all day without a clue! How could you not be aware of something so important? What kind of a mother are you?” Father Sampton reprimanded her. ”Wasn’t Jane quite close to you before? She used to listen to you. How come she’s been distancing herself from you recently? She hasn’t even mentioned to you that she’s friends with President Forest of the Forest Clan Group?”

She...” Mother Sampton was aggrieved, ”So many things have happened at home recently. Last time, dad and mom came over and forced Julie Sampton to resign from the TV station; she’s been in a bad mood every day. How could I find the time to worry about Jane?”

”It’s all because you spoiled them, one by one; they’re out of control! She deserves it! Having nothing better to do than post on Twitter? If you want to do something disgraceful, at least have the smarts not to get caught! Stupid as a pig.” Father Sampton cursed, feeling that everything at home was lately unsettling him.

”After all, Jane Sampson has been calling you ’mother’ for over 20 years. Even if you play favorites, can’t you be more discreet about it? It’s so obvious that even outsiders can see your bias reaching all the way to the Arctic Ocean!” Father Sampton issued a direct order, ”After dinner tonight, you call her.”

”What am I supposed to call her for if there’s nothing wrong?” Mother Sampton shook her head, ”I don’t have time. I promised Julie that after dinner, I’d take her out to the shopping mall to shop for some new clothes and jewelry, to cheer her up a bit. Julie has quit her job and is now moping at home all day. As her father, why don’t you think of a way to help her?”
