CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 941: Chapter 949: Didn’t Notify Me

Speaking of this, Mona Calm suddenly said, ”Just now when I passed by Amber Edwards’ makeup room, I also heard Amber and her assistant saying that they couldn’t care less about the stuff Sister Jane endorses. They said, ’You’re a big star, an actor with such high popularity, and someone who uses over 300,000 lipstick without batting an eye, yet you have the audacity to recommend skincare products worth just over 100, just like those tasteless influencers, self-righteously promoting whatever lipstick on Twitter.’

As for what she says, it’s not as though I would lose a piece of meat.” Jane Sampson was prepared to lock horns with Amber Edwards in the crew from the moment she saw her, but Amber’s sour words didn’t concern Jane in the slightest.

In Jane’s own words, she didn’t need to adorn herself with overly expensive things to appear noble.

On a whim, she could wear a ten bucks dress from a street market, but she could also pull off wearing any expensive stuff.

So Amber’s words, whether said behind her back or to her face, had no impact on Jane.

Jane regarded Amber as an annoying mother duck, quacking away, only there to irritate people.

Although Jane wanted to join Mona in mocking Amber upon hearing those words, with many people in the cast and crew, Jane always had to be mindful of her image, not giving anyone anything to hold against her.

As the saying goes, ”Trouble comes from the mouth,” and there were things Jane would not utter a single word about.

How Coco, the assistant, chose to express herself was none of Jane’s business.

Mona noticed that Jane didn’t enjoy talking about Amber, so she quickly steered the conversation elsewhere, bringing up her plan to treat Jane to a meal.

”The director told me last night that tonight he is hosting a dinner for a few major investors and wants us to join in the fun, so I definitely can’t invite Sister Jane for a meal tonight. How about tomorrow night?” Mona asked.

”Sure,” Jane nodded in agreement, as she indeed wanted to go back and rest early tonight.

”Oh, Sister Jane, after we remove our makeup today, can I ride with you to the restaurant?” Mona asked with an embarrassed smile, ”In the film crew, I only know you, so I can’t help wanting to stick around you more.”

”The director didn’t notify me of any socializing this evening,” Jane suddenly remembered that James Chip had mentioned when she arrived that she should head back to the hotel to rest early after her evening scenes.

From beginning to end, there had been no mention of dining with the investors, which meant James likely didn’t intend to take Jane along.”

”Huh?” Mona looked surprised, ”I heard that Sister Hibiscus Wood and Thomas Forest are going.”

Thomas Forest is the male lead of this drama and had taken a break from acting to study abroad for the past few years. This drama marked his return to the screen.

”Perhaps the director thought I wasn’t in good shape today and that’s why he didn’t call me,” Jane guessed.

If James were here at this moment to hear what Jane said, he would probably shed tears.

It’s not that Jane was off her game today; even if she was in top form, he wouldn’t have the guts to invite Jane to a social drinking event. After all, Jane was the female supporting role personally requested by the President of Swan Goose Films, the major investor in this drama, and the person coming from Swan Goose Films today was not the President, but the Vice President of the company.
