CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 698: Chapter 706: Probably Is

Jane Sampson didn’t like Charlotte Miller, feeling an incompatibility in their auras and personalities since her time with the guard team.

But after meeting her this time, Jane Sampson finally understood why she had always disliked Charlotte Miller.

It was because Charlotte Miller’s pursuit of self-interest was all too obvious.

Jane Sampson might be naive, but she wasn’t foolish.

She could tell that Charlotte Miller’s hurried request to have a meal and catch up was simply because she saw John Young and James Carter discussing dinner plans with her.

Had it not been for the fact that tonight, Jane Sampson was supposed to go back and cook for King Black, then after Charlotte Miller said that, it was unlikely that she, John Young, or James Carter would directly refuse Charlotte Miller’s request to join.

First of all, John Young and James Carter would be considerate of her, and hearing Charlotte Miller’s words, they might assume that Jane Sampson had a good relationship with Charlotte Miller. Therefore, to save her face, John Young and James Carter would feel embarrassed to reject her.

The ultimate result would be that Charlotte Miller would join the three of them for dinner.

One was a major director, the other, a powerhouse male singer whose popularity had remained high for many years. For Charlotte Miller, getting close to either one of them was an opportunity.

After getting in the car, even Coco Edwards couldn’t help but murmur to Jane Sampson, ”That host is really a bit annoying.”

Jane Sampson nodded in agreement, ”She is a bit.”

Hearing Jane Sampson echo her sentiments, Coco Edwards couldn’t help but let out a laugh.

”Before we went to record the show, while we were together in the elevator, I noticed she glanced at your necklace quite a few times,” Coco Edwards said.

Jane Sampson slapped her forehead, only then remembering, ”Before the elevator, she seemed to have asked me what brand my jewelry was, didn’t I fail to answer her?”

Jane Sampson said, ”Looking at my necklace might just be a woman’s appreciation for jewelry.”

”Probably,” Coco Edwards shrugged indifferently, ”Jewelry looks good, but it depends on who’s wearing it.”

”You really know how to compliment people. You must have sneaked some candy when I wasn’t looking at lunch today,” Jane Sampson said, pinching Coco Edwards’s chubby cheek in praise.

”I’ve been really trying to lose weight recently. I only had a fruit salad for lunch,” Coco Edwards answered very seriously.

When the car arrived at the doorway of the villa, Jane Sampson hopped out, carrying the clothes and bag she’d changed out of, wearing high heels, and bidding goodbye to Coco Edwards as she trotted inside.

The door used fingerprint recognition and a password; at noon, James Black had already entered her fingerprint, so Jane Sampson didn’t need a key and opened the door with her fingerprint.

As soon as she entered, Jane Sampson unexpectedly smelled something burning from the kitchen. She tossed her stuff on the sofa, worried that James Black had forgotten to turn off the gas while boiling water or something, and hurried to the kitchen without even bothering to put on her slippers.

Upon entering, she saw James Black, wearing an apron, standing with his back to her. Puzzled, Jane Sampson called out, ”James Black, what are you doing?”

Hearing her, the man turned around with a stern face, still holding a similarly charred spatula, his whole person enveloped in a serious aura.

James Black stared at Jane Sampson, who was standing on tiptoe at the door trying to see over to him, for a few seconds before speaking solemnly, ”Cleaning the pot.”

”Hadn’t we got the place cleaned before coming here? How can you make a burnt smell just by washing a pot?” Jane Sampson asked, confused and stepping forward to continue inside.
