CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 150: Chapter 158: Continue to Sleep

It’s not hard to imagine the mix of emotions Jane Sampson must have felt when she woke up in the middle of the night, feeling too hot and realizing she was in someone’s arms again—damn it.

But because she was too sleepy, after she threw off the air conditioning quilt, Jane didn’t bother to push James Black away. He was highly alert; as soon as she pushed him, he would wake up. And once awake, he would only pull her back anyway. It wasn’t worth the futile effort.

Before drifting back to sleep, Jane thought that next time, she’d go to the shopping mall and buy a 1.5 meters tall large cloth doll for James. Since he seemed to have a habit of holding something while sleeping, he might as well hug the doll instead of tormenting her.

Summer days always dawn early, and at over five o’clock, the man in the bed opened his eyes on schedule. A pair of black pupils landed on the woman with the messy hair sleeping in his arms.

Perhaps this was the first time in many years of marriage that Jane had slept in his arms with such a lack of guard, or rather, had slept by his side so relaxed and naturally.

So naturally, in fact, that at the moment he opened his eyes, it was as if his heart had been gently tapped by something, very softly, like a feather—tapping once and then sweeping over.

Jane’s skin was very good, soft and pale.

They say time is a woman’s greatest enemy, but to James, it seemed to favor Jane. She appeared just as beautiful as she was before their marriage, even now.

Her fair face had no speckles or wrinkles, not even the acne he saw last time left any marks on her face.

Jane was the kind of beauty that stunned at first glance, and definitely the kind that grew more appealing the more one looked.

Without a doubt, when they met again after many years before their marriage, the reason James finally agreed to marry was partly because he thought their children would also be beautiful if he had a beautiful wife.

But back then, James believed Jane’s beauty was merely superficial.

James gently withdrew his hand, intending to get out of bed without waking her to wash up. However, as soon as he moved his hand, he still ended up waking Jane.

”I’m going to wash up; you keep sleeping,” James said, gently pulling the quilt that she had kicked to the foot of the bed back up to cover her chest and belly.

Jane owned a cabinet full of PJs, but James had only ever seen her wear a complete set of top and pants for sleepwear.

Oh, that’s right, the last time at the hotel in City C was an exception.

Still heavy with sleep, Jane sat up anyway, her reaction slow as a dazed goose, her eyes looking at James, not knowing what to think, or perhaps her body was awake while her mind was still sleeping.

”You keep sleeping,” James said, his voice tinged with a hint of laughter. Though he didn’t really want to wake Jane, her confused and silly appearance was amusing to watch.

Only in the mornings when she had just woken up could he see this side of her, a stark contrast to how she was when fully alert.

Right after James finished speaking, Jane lay back down stiff as a robot receiving a signal and closed her eyes again. The only action Jane took that was not part of James’ command was a leg lift, which kicked the quilt off the bed onto the floor with one swift kick.

James rested his hand on his forehead, wondering if there was a doctor who could cure this habit of kicking quilts.

Having no other choice with Jane, James adjusted the air conditioner in the room up by two degrees and then turned to go wash up.
