I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 697: Chapter 696: Human Shield

Beisitian was sitting while Shi Guang was standing, and from this angle, you could see this young boy was up to something.

Shi Weihua had already stood up, reached behind him but didn’t find the stick that he usually kept at hand; he was planning to give this brat a good lesson today.

When Shi Guang saw that movement, he knew it wasn’t good. His eyes darted around, and he ran to Beisitian’s other side, saying, ”Auntie, are we leaving? If not, I can’t protect you any longer!”

Saying this, he pulled Beisitian to run outside. Beisitian not only didn’t expose him but let herself be pulled along.

Because he was holding onto Beisitian, Shi Guang managed to avoid a direct hit while passing Shi Weihua.

Watching the pair, large and small, exit the private room like the wind, everyone looked at each other in disbelief.

As expected of the Shi Family’s little rascal, he had actually dragged away this Great Power in front of so many elders... what can you even say to that?

Everyone looked at Shi Weihua with eyes full of sympathy, and a bit of schadenfreude.

Having such a troublesome kid, and one with outstanding talent, sure is exhausting. Now this troublesome kid seemed to have caused a huge mess for the family.

There’s no woman who doesn’t care about her age. Even though Beisitian is a Great Power, she is also a woman—a very young and beautiful woman. Being openly called ”auntie” might make her ashamed and angry. Just imagine, Beisitian might ask Shi Weihua if he knows Shi Guang to make a scene.

Shi Weihua was already completely messed up, this little rascal had actually dragged Beisitian away!

One can imagine Shi Family is about to become famous again...

Shi Weihua faced a group of expressionless faces and felt he really wanted to pass out immediately. After all, he couldn’t save his old reputation anymore.

”Everyone... I’m truly sorry, this kid is just too unruly...” Although Shi Weihua was addressing everyone, he was looking at Fei Zhouxiang.

He didn’t forget what Shi Guang just said about Fei Yunqing.

Saying it’s a child’s innocent talk, but Shi Guang is already fourteen or fifteen years old, well into the age of understanding, yet he can still offend countless people with his words. Shi Weihua felt truly exhausted.

Fei Zhouxiang grinned with a skin-deep smile, ”We don’t mind much, Brother Shi, you still need to clean up the mess your kid made. Who knows what kind of temper that Great Power has?”

Although these words were meant to remind Shi Weihua, they also carried a hint of schadenfreude, this brat now had trouble.

Shi Weihua looked awkward, it seemed that ’Fei Yunqing grew up eating shit’ had offended Fei Zhouxiang.

Shi Guang had disrupted the meal, and Shi Weihua felt too embarrassed to stay, so he found an excuse to leave, preparing to deal with that brat quickly after stepping out.

The main thing was to find Beisitian, as he absolutely couldn’t let the brat completely offend her. The Shi Family didn’t want to offend a Great Power, especially one with such potential.

As soon as Shi Weihua was out, he found the members of the Shi Family scattered around and gathered them all to find this brat, aiming to locate him as quickly as possible.

On the other side, after dragging Beisitian out of the private room, Shi Guang led her all the way to a nearby grove, only stopping to catch his breath when he confirmed no one was following.

Beisitian, with her arms crossed, looked at him with a half-smile and said, ”Not running anymore?”

Shi Guang waved his hand, too out of breath to speak immediately. After a while, he said, ”Didn’t expect, auntie, you look so delicate yet have such good stamina.”

Beisitian raised an eyebrow, ”Almost got hit with a stick for you, aren’t you going to thank me properly?”

Shi Guang chuckled, ”Since you showed up at the gathering, it means you’re of considerable importance. My granduncle definitely wouldn’t lay hands on you, so technically, you didn’t really shield me from a blow.”

”So I was a shield for nothing, without even getting a favor?”

”How could that be? I’ll treat you to a meal, auntie. What do you want to eat? How about some hot and sour noodles? I heard spicy food is good for women’s skin.” Shi Guang babbled while inviting Beisitian along.

Shi Guang and Beisitian headed to a street of snacks. Beisitian secretly laughed; this brat, though reckless, had some cleverness.

They had just run out from this street; Shi Weihua would never think Shi Guang dared to come back.

”Tell me, auntie, why do so many big shots invite you to meals? What’s your story?” Shi Guang asked while searching for food.

”Didn’t I tell you, I’m the winner this time.” Beisitian held a candied haw, which Shi Guang had bought for her.

Shi Guang rolled his eyes, ”Sis, there’s a limit to pretending, okay? I didn’t watch the finals this time, but I know that the winner is a Great Power. Do you even know what a Great Power is?”

”What is it?”

”Great Powers are all eighty-year-old old men!” Shi Guang said, then showed a puzzled look, ”Wait a minute, those over a certain age aren’t allowed to participate in competitions, so how could there be a Great Power appearing?”

As Shi Guang walked, he saw there were fine pea cakes being sold by the roadside. He immediately rushed over and got two pieces; the diamond-shaped pea cakes looked very inviting.

”Didn’t expect you actually like sweet food.” Beisitian smiled as she looked at Shi Guang’s greedy expression.

Shi Guang rolled his eyes dramatically, ”What’s wrong with sweet food? Does the country prohibit men from eating sweets? Besides, coming to Beijing isn’t easy. Fine pea cakes are a signature Old Beijing snack!”

Beisitian also tasted one, and it was very fine and pure, melting instantly in the mouth; it was indeed delicious.

The two of them wandered while eating, finally each having a bowl of stewed fire and stuffing their stomachs full.

”The difficult case project in the afternoon will be very exciting, but unfortunately, I can’t participate.” Shi Guang expressed his frustration.

”Why?” Beisitian asked puzzled.

Shi Guang spread his hands, ”Got into a fight, beat up a brat from the Zuoqiu Family, so I was grounded. I sneaked out.”

Beisitian looked understanding; indeed, Shi Guang’s behavior warranted grounding.

”What’s with that look?” Shi Guang looked at Beisitian discontentedly, ”I invited you to eat so much good stuff, how can you look at me like that, as if I deserved grounding.”

Beisitian shrugged, noncommittal, then smiled and said, ”I can take you to the difficult case project in the afternoon.”

Shi Guang looked at her incredulously, ”Really?”

”Really, you just have to promise me one thing.” Beisitian smiled broadly.

”What thing?”

”I have a difficult case file here, you help me submit it.”

”Why don’t you submit it yourself?”

Submitting difficult cases is also a project assessment.

Beisitian looked embarrassed, ”You know, since I got the first place, it’d ruin my reputation if I couldn’t solve a difficult case.”

This case was about a genetic disease shared by her and Bei Jiale, very sensitive and involving many aspects. If she submitted it, it could arouse suspicion among those with ulterior motives, posing a threat to her, Bei Jiale, and the two children.
