I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 687: Chapter 686: Continuing the Competition

”You definitely need to use talisman powder you made yourself on the exchange table, otherwise why go up there? To cause trouble?”

”Exactly, I think this is intentionally causing trouble. What school is she from, sent out to embarrass herself?”

Though many people realized there was a loophole in the exchange table’s rules, they still spoke out.

For a moment, many were criticizing Beisitian.

The judges hadn’t expected someone to exploit this loophole; they frowned and discussed among themselves. But the written rules were indeed as such, so accusing Beisitian of violating them didn’t really hold.

Allowing someone who exploited a loophole to gain fame was upsetting to most, especially those who failed to qualify for the competition; they were particularly resentful. If that’s the case, they could also invest heavily to buy others’ talisman powder, then bring it to the exchange table.

Perhaps they’d be eliminated in the first round, but at least they’d have gained qualification for the competition, right?

Many thought this way, so towards Beisitian there was mostly jealousy—jealousy that she could use such cunning to enter the competition, and now many people knew the name Qingyu School.

”She must be severely punished!”

”That’s right, we refuse to accept such people in the competition!”

Those shouting were from smaller families and schools. Many had been on the exchange table but had not qualified for the competition, so it was understandable how displeased they were with Beisitian’s clever tricks.

”Make her step down!”

”Step down!”

More people began clamoring, even though they knew Beisitian would certainly be eliminated when compared with Wang Wenfei; but this was the battle for the top eight after all—once it started, it would have a different significance.

So they didn’t even want Beisitian to participate in the contest for the top eight.

Beisitian frowned slightly. If it was just Wang Wenfei causing trouble, it was fine; but if everyone opposed, even the judges couldn’t go against the majority’s will.

She glanced at Wang Wenfei’s smug face. When she first approached the exchange table, she hadn’t thought much about it; otherwise, if she aimed for competition qualification, she’d use more potent talisman powder and would make it herself, not use someone else’s.

Being able to earn a competition qualification token was almost certainly Wang Wenfei’s doing. She saw her take talisman powder from Wei Zhongxun, then planned for her to enter the contest and be embarrassed in front of everyone.

Her scheme was well-crafted, Beisitian laughed coldly in her heart.

The other participants observed coldly. Fei Yunqing watched Beisitian silently; this woman wasn’t foolish, why would she admit to this—why did she do it?

With her spirit, even if not an extraordinary number, her speed would have an advantage over average people, as evidenced by her reaching this point.

So why didn’t she use her own talisman powder at the time?

Fei Yunqing found it hard to comprehend.

Wen Xin quietly stood there, her gentle and kind image drawing many’s attention, yet she ignored these gazes.

She remembered the bet with Beisitian, but it was likely meaningless now—such base behavior was truly detestable. With so many shouting, the judges couldn’t disregard everyone’s feelings.

Amidst everyone’s indignation, a clear voice sounded.

”I think it might not be as serious as you believe.”

People looked towards the voice, seeing Wei Zhongyuan from the guest seats speaking coolly.

If anyone else spoke, they’d be torn apart, yet it was Wei Zhongyuan, which was different; he was the only Mystic Doctor able to perform Spiritual Pointing. His words carried weight!

However, this sounded as if he defended that woman?

Wang Wenfei’s face didn’t look good; this didn’t sit right with her.

”The loophole in the exchange table’s rules is the fault of the makers.”

So, it wasn’t Beisitian’s fault...

”And she didn’t rely on luck to reach this point.”

Though Wei Zhongyuan spoke few words, they were clear.

Despite Beisitian using someone else’s talisman powder at the exchange table, the written rule didn’t forbid this. And saying she did it for fame, but she’s reached the contest for the top eight.

Looking at this step, those around were all from big families or schools. Even families like Wen Xin’s aren’t qualified to be among the elite, yet their family power wasn’t weak, not less than the previous Wei Family.

Beisitian competing with such groups indirectly proved her strength, not needing others’ talisman powder to earn a qualification token.

Saying she broke the rules—they don’t say so. Saying she sought fame—she earned her spot by merit. If so, using others’ talisman powder on the exchange table was perhaps an unintended mistake.

Though Wei Zhongyuan hadn’t said it outright, that’s essentially what he meant upon reflection.

Wang Wenfei’s face turned grim; what was Mr. Wei doing, defending a cheating woman?

Not only Wang Wenfei, many present thought this. Were there other reasons Wei Zhongyuan admired Beisitian?

In the crowd, Wei Zhongxun, seeing Wei Zhongyuan speak fairly, subtly gave a thumbs up. No wonder when he had planned to intervene, his brother gave him a signal—this was why.

Indeed, people would assume bias if known parties defended. Speaking from an impartial stance added fairness.

With Wei Zhongyuan’s current status, many stopped yelling upon hearing him; of course, the dissatisfied would still whisper privately.

After discussion, the judges decided to let Beisitian continue in the competition.

Wang Wenfei took a deep breath; this was the outcome!

The result was final; Wang Wenfei had to perform outstandingly to crush Beisitian in the contest results.

Not far off, Wen Xin looked coldly at Beisitian, finding her better than expected, but still lacking compared to herself. Her opponent this time was Fei Yunqing!

Thinking of Luo Xudong, Wen Xin envisioned that tall, handsome figure and his charming face always appearing in her mind.

The only pity was he had children. If he had only a wife, it would be easier to separate one day; with children, it’s different. Blood is thicker than water; they’ll meet again, a thought that inevitably leaves her feeling uneasy.
