I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 672: Chapter 671

Hearing Little Yu Zhu agree, Yang Yun shifted her attention from Beisitian to Little Yu Zhu, and with a sneer said, ”Smart choice, then let’s start now. You can find your family’s elders.”

Little Yu Zhu wasn’t naive, ”How do we determine the strength of the factions? You can’t just claim yours is the best and win.”

”Naturally, it’s based on overall strength,” Yang Yun said, as if it were obvious.

Little Yu Zhu pouted, ”The true strength of a faction is right before us. Overall strength requires assessments from various aspects, which isn’t something you or I can decide.”

Yang Yun was annoyed, ”Then what do you suggest!”

Little Yu Zhu felt a bit troubled, thought for a moment and said, ”Let’s see who’s the best within the faction, but only among those who come to participate in the exchange meeting!”

Yang Yun frowned, feeling something was off about this.

”Are you afraid?” Little Yu Zhu raised her eyebrow.

Yang Yun sneered several times, ”Afraid? Why would I fear you? Just wait to lick my toes; I’ll make sure not to wash them for days!”

After speaking, she left with a smug grin.

Beisitian couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up to Little Yu Zhu’s cleverness. By limiting the scope to participants at the exchange meeting, it worked in her favor.

If Yang Yun really found a big family, but the attendees were just there to gain experience, they might not compare to those led by experts from mid-level families or factions.

Tian Zhi disliked such children very much; just observing her way of doing things was quite off-putting, just like Beisitian said, whoever takes such a child into their family is truly jeopardizing their future, bringing trouble or embarrassment wherever they go.

Little Yu Zhu approached Beisitian with an apologetic look, ”Sister, our issues have implicated you.”

And made Beisitian scolded by that annoying Yang Yun, making her feel even worse about it.

Beisitian patted her head, ”Why are you out here alone?”

”I wanted to buy candied haws on that street,” Little Yu Zhu pointed to the food street, ”My grandfather is busy, my uncle was supposed to take me, but something came up, so I volunteered to go alone.”

Unexpectedly, she ran into Yang Yun, no, Yang Yun intentionally sought her out.

”Don’t wander around alone anymore; although most attendees here are from Mystic Doctors, it’s unavoidable to have some opportunists,” Beisitian said.

Surely, some people with ill intentions would be lurking among the crowd at the exchange meeting. Little Yu Zhu’s spirit was quite good, although not to the extent that someone might abduct her to sell to big families, but if there were those looking to use such children to make mischief?

Little Yu Zhu’s family might not have realized this yet.

Little Yu Zhu nodded, understanding Beisitian’s concern for her well-being, she smiled revealing a row of neat teeth and a small dimple, ”I understand, Sister.”

After buying the candied haws with Little Yu Zhu, the three of them returned to the old warehouse, where she quickly spotted Little Yu Zhu’s grandfather, Liu Xinghua.

Liu Xinghua was sitting on a single soft chair, a table card placed upon it marked ’Primordial Energy Talisman,’ integrating seven types of herbal medicine, with several lines below listing the herbs.

Beisitian finally understood why the Liu Family let Little Yu Zhu seek out suitable factions and families. The Primordial Energy Talisman either used Original Essence Qi Spirit or integrated over twenty kinds of Nourishing Essence and Stabilizing Foundation herbs to be effective; seven herbs made no difference if not integrated.

Little Yu Zhu didn’t immediately approach; this was not the time to disturb her grandfather in case someone wanted to propose an exchange.

Then, after waiting a long time, no one approached Liu Xinghua’s table; everyone knew the effects of the Primordial Energy Talisman, generally no one made such talismans. Although it was a reasonably effective talisman and quite popular, requiring Original Essence Qi Spirit was disadvantageous, and twenty herbal medicines weren’t easy for everyone to incorporate.

So, few people made such talismans, and only some big families were willing to produce them.

Little Yu Zhu felt sorry for her grandfather; generally, if a table remains unvisited for over half an hour, the person must automatically give way, implying their talisman isn’t recognized, unable to attract relevant personnel’s attention, hence unable to receive a qualification token to participate in the competition.

Little Yu Zhu reviewed the exchange meeting procedures intensely after returning home yesterday, just to chit-chat more with her sister.

Liu Xinghua left the small desk in low spirits, noticed Little Yu Zhu and Beisitian not far away, his face slightly embarrassed, but he was used to it. The efficacy of his Xuan Talismans was indeed average, with nothing substantial to present; the only talisman worth showing was the Primordial Energy Talisman, yet clearly it lacked recognition.

”Old, truly old,” Liu Xinghua shook his head with a wry smile, his face dimmed, he had to find some comforting words for himself, ”Miss Bei, not going to try?”

Beisitian smiled, shaking her head; such competitions weren’t meaningful enough. Yesterday, the most herbs integrated amounted to only twenty-one types, regardless of their efficacy; this number simply wasn’t impressive.

Just now she glanced around roughly, and the number of herbs that could be integrated exceeded yesterday’s significantly; three reached over twenty, but one Xuan Talisman had very average efficacy, merely slightly stronger than treating common colds and fevers, so the quantity integrated didn’t mean much.

The remaining two were alright; within half an hour, three to four people already came to exchange.

Beisitian found this format quite interesting, although not exactly a selection process, each person had the right to participate. They could present their best Xuan Talisman, and if over thirty people came for exchange within half an hour, a competition qualification token would be awarded, which was quite challenging, equivalent to one person per minute.

Aside from that, if the Xuan Talismans’ efficacy and the number of herbal medicines gained recognition from certain people, once the number of approval reached the minimum threshold, someone would come to present the qualification token to them.

The first method had a rather high possibility of cheating, and if caught padding the numbers, they’d immediately lose the right to attend the exchange meeting, let alone the competition qualification; such punishment was quite severe, so few were willing to take the risk.

The second method was basically controlled by several big families because the evaluators were people from the organizers, but everyone trusted this method because the children from some big families inherently had seats, and most wouldn’t compete for these limited slots, instead offering opportunities to others.

”It’s almost rare, what a pity you didn’t try, Miss Bei,” Liu Xinghua said with a smile.

Beisitian glanced at the empty small desk and suddenly felt it wasn’t a bad idea to try, just as long as it didn’t create too much commotion.
