I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Giving Thanks (Fifth Update)

After feeding the medicine from the small porcelain jar to the three of them, Ma was already exhausted. She looked at the water stains on her hands and felt even more puzzled.

It’s not like she hasn’t seen medicinal soup before, but why does this medicine look like clear water? Could Beisitian have taken the wrong thing and given them water instead, which is why it acted so fast!

Ma sat on the edge of the kang, leaned against the wall, and dozed off as she thought.

She slept so deeply that she didn’t wake up until the sun was high, shining through the window.

Rubbing her eyes, she looked at the three people on the bed and saw that they were still in the same state, with towels on their foreheads and covered with thick blankets, instantly losing hope.

She shouldn’t have trusted that young widow!

She was thinking about whether to take the three of them to the health clinic in the town, even if it meant being ripped off, because they still had to treat their illness!

While thinking, her youngest son, Yang Chuan, kicked the blanket off with his leg, turning over and causing the towel on his forehead to fall onto the pillow.

Probably because of the sunlight coming in, her daughter also turned over and slept with one leg on top of the blanket.

Ma hurriedly went up to cover her youngest son with the blanket again and tucked her daughter’s leg back under the covers.

”Huh?” Ma touched her daughter’s leg and found it wasn’t as burning hot anymore. She hurriedly felt her youngest son’s body, and the temperature had returned to normal as well.

The normal temperature can’t be detected right after taking off the towel, but their bodies had indeed cooled down from the fever!

Ma couldn’t believe it, so she turned to one side and reached into Yang Wulang’s blanket to feel. It wasn’t as scorching as last night!

”Did the fever really go down? Am I dreaming?” Ma exclaimed in disbelief.

The fever was so severe last night, and they had only taken the medicine in the latter half of the night. How could the fever be gone by morning?

Ma looked at the faces of the three people, noticing they weren’t as flushed and had returned to a normal color, and shouted, ”Why aren’t you getting up already!”

With this shout, both Yang Hong and Yang Chuan opened their eyes.

Ma saw they were in good spirits, put on their clothes, and started making a fuss in the courtyard, still finding it hard to believe. The two children who were babbling in their sickness just yesterday were now completely fine?

Her husband had said something about how when illness comes it’s like a mountain collapsing, and when it goes away it’s like something else, anyway, recovering from illness isn’t a one-day or two-day matter.

”That little wife really knows how to cure diseases!” Ma was immensely amazed.

The two children were awake, but Yang Wulang hadn’t awoken yet. Ma looked at him and found him sleeping soundly, calling out to him a couple of times, but he responded, knowing it was just a lack of sleep causing it, she let him continue sleeping.

Ma didn’t tell anyone about this matter. She had her private thoughts too, thinking if others found out how effective Beisitian’s medicine was, they’d all go to her and not come here anymore, then what would her family do?

Yang Wulang only woke up at night, with no trace of the weakness that usually follows an illness, but rather he looked full of energy, and he carefully inquired Ma about what happened.

”Did Beisitian say I’d be fine by the morning?” Yang Wulang asked.

”Yes, that’s what she said. I didn’t believe it at the time, but I didn’t expect that by the morning, the fever in all three of you was gone!”

”Was the medicine she gave you colorless?” Yang Wulang asked again.

”How did you know? I thought it looked like clear water, if it wasn’t for having no other choice, I wouldn’t have dared give it to you. I thought she must have gotten it wrong.” Ma replied.

Yang Wulang was usually very busy and didn’t have time to chat with her like now, so she was quite happy to have the conversation.

”Is there any medicine left?”

”No, just a small jar. There are three people in our family, I was worried it wasn’t even enough to drink.”

”Who else knows about this?”

When Ma heard Yang Wulang asking her this, she proudly replied, ”No one else knows but me. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone about this matter. You must be worried she’d take our business, right?”

Yang Wulang glared at her, ”So short-sighted; if she wanted to take it, she would have done it already since this flu has been going around for over half a month!”

Ma also realized it. With the medicine being so effective, there would surely be a second person seeking her out right after giving them a dose.

”Why doesn’t she say anything since she has such good medicine?” Ma was puzzled. If her family had such good medicine, they’d definitely treat one after another without this kind of limitation, also earning restricted money.

Yang Wulang was equally puzzled, not understanding what Beisitian was thinking.

”What if we bought her medicine?” Ma suddenly thought, buying it would make it their own, wouldn’t it?

Yang Wulang shook his head, ”Don’t get any ideas, it’s very likely only she can make this medicine.”

He remembered when the young son of the Luo Family got injured. That medicine was also colorless and transparent, but surely different from the one he drank.

Ma was just speaking off the cuff, and naturally, she wouldn’t do anything if Yang Wulang didn’t agree.

”Since you and the children are all right, we should buy something and go see her. I startled her in the middle of the night; we should show some gratitude.” Ma said.

Yang Wulang nodded, ”That’s the right thing to do. Tomorrow morning we should go to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy some things, and then go visit.”

He knew Ma didn’t have any ill intentions, only spoke without much threshold, but if really let her do something, she’d feel uncomfortable about herself.

The next day, Yang Wulang and Ma took the two children to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy things. People at the supply and marketing cooperative were amazed at how quickly he had recovered since everyone knew in the village Yang Wulang fainted from exhaustion while treating others’ illnesses.

At that time, there were quite a few people outside. Seeing the Yang family of four heading to Luo Er’s family left everyone feeling very surprised, especially since they were carrying something in their hands, it was obvious they were going to visit someone.

When the Yang family arrived, Beisitian and Luo Anping were practicing calligraphy at the kang table. Under Beisitian’s guidance, Luo Anping’s posture while practicing was now very proper, no longer slumping over the table or practicing and playing intermittently, he had a straight back and could focus intently on writing.

Seeing Yang Wulang come, Beisitian wasn’t surprised at all. She must have known that he was curious at this moment.

Mrs. Qin brought water for the two of them and gave the two children some fruit candies.

Seeing this, Yang Wulang felt a slight surprise. That sour candy must have been bought at the supply and marketing cooperative, costing fifty cents a pack, with dozens of pieces.

It’s not unusual for others to buy it, but Luo Er’s family was different. They were dirt poor, where did they get extra money to buy candies?

The candies didn’t seem to have been specifically bought, leaving Yang Wulang both puzzled and curious.

After the usual pleasantries, Yang Wulang solemnly thanked Beisitian. Ma also felt apologetic for disturbing her in the middle of the night; it wouldn’t have been comfortable for anyone to be woken up.

”There’s no need to be so formal, Uncle Yang. If not for you, my brother wouldn’t have been able to hold on until I got back. Thanks to the few stitches Uncle Yang put in!” Beisitian thanked sincerely in return.

At that time, due to Luo Anping’s severe injury and time constraints, they hadn’t managed to thank him properly.
