I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Not Done by Humans!

Zhang Shuncai and Zhang Shungui, the two brothers, were sitting on the steps, leaning against each other, already asleep.

In the darkness, pairs of eyes with a ghostly glow kept moving. The sheep in the pen were restless, but only dared to let out soft bleats, clearly very afraid of these large creatures that had come.

There were thirteen sheep in total, but only a few managed to make low cries before ten of them had their necks bitten through. The remaining three lambs were completely terrified, huddled in a muddy corner of the pen, trembling.

The sheep pen was instantly filled with blood, and the latch of the pen was bitten open, with ten sheep dragged out.

Two pairs of eyes with a ghostly glow paused for a moment, came in front of the brothers sitting on the steps, circled them, and finally jumped over the high wall and left.

With the first rays of dawn shining through the high mountains onto the rooftops of Kao Village, some families that rose early had already started smoking their stoves.

Today, the wailing from the Tyrant Zhang Family was not heard, it should be fine now. After all, suffering losses two days in a row, with so many brothers in the house, they were surely keeping vigil at night.

”At last, it’s quiet. Listening to that mother and son cursing every day was quite annoying.”

”Curse all they want, it’s not like they were cursing us. I, for one, find it quite satisfying. With a whole coop of chickens dead and a big fat pig gone, anyone would be heartbroken. Anyone else would be too choked with anger to breathe, making them think they’re better than everyone else every day!”

”That’s true, every time Li Fengzhi goes out with her nose to the sky, that disdainful attitude really makes one angry. She’s always shouting they’re poor, yet they have everything at home.”

The Tyrant Zhang family may have many people, but they’re wealthier than most families. Ever since Du Bapi married off her daughter, it was only the Tyrant Zhang family with money.

Du Bapi truly didn’t want to be too ostentatious, but anyone with eyes could see it from her little daughter, not like the Tyrant Zhang family who shouted about being not prosperous, wanting everyone to know they were wealthy.

With confidence and fearlessness, having several big men in the family, their relatives also in the village, who’s going to dare make a move against them?

This time, the Tyrant Zhang family must have offended someone, having suffered such a massive blow. It takes more than a day or two to manage a whole coop of chickens and raise such a big fat pig.

Now nearly every household is talking about this. The big fat pig at the village entrance has already been eaten clean by the village dogs. Those dogs certainly had a festival this time.

That whole coop of chickens hasn’t been found yet. Whoever is in the place of the Tyrant Zhang family wouldn’t find the grief bearable, but who asked them to be so odious? Over the years, except for a few well-off families that weren’t afraid of them, who hasn’t been bullied by them?

There is almost no sympathy for them, everyone just feels relieved!

Today there wasn’t a sound, and quite a few people were even feeling a bit regretful.

The Tyrant Zhang family’s gate was tightly closed, with no sound from inside, but the whole family was home. Their faces were ashen.

This matter should be recounted from when Zhang Lianqiao woke up early.

Although she was the only daughter in the house, she wasn’t as delicate as outsiders might think. Most of the household chores were her responsibility, so naturally, she was also the one to make breakfast in the morning.

Zhang Lianqiao usually woke up early, but for some reason, perhaps her monthly visitor, she was feeling fatigued with abdominal pain, so she woke up quite late these days.

When she got up today, she found everyone else in the family still asleep, even Li Fengzhi hadn’t woken up, so she was about to fetch some firewood for cooking.

Opening the door, she saw her big brother and second brother sleeping against the steps, with a circle of watermark in the dust around them.

Because there was dust on the steps, the watermark was very obvious.

”Brother, second brother, go sleep inside the house,” Zhang Lianqiao said, not forgetting to glance at the sheep pen. Wasn’t the point of them sleeping out here to watch over the sheep pen?

Upon seeing this, Zhang Lianqiao’s face instantly turned ashen, and she sat down on the ground, shivering all over.

Zhang Shuncai heard Zhang Lianqiao calling him, squeezed his eyes shut tightly for a moment, then opened them. He didn’t even know when he fell asleep last night.

Anyway, he didn’t hear a sound, so surely those bastards didn’t dare to come in seeing them there.

Zhang Shuncai turned and saw Zhang Lianqiao’s ghostly pale face, trembling on the ground in terror, and his heart sank. Turning back to look at the sheep pen, his face drained of color instantly.

What was left of the sheep pen was blood everywhere, the mud in the pen was pitch-black red, the fence of the pen and the remaining three lambs bore large patches of bloodstains on their white wool, making for a shocking sight!

Zhang Shuncai quivered as he got up, walked to the edge of the sheep pen, and was immediately overwhelmed by the pungent smell of blood, nearly causing him to vomit.

The pen was a mess. From the outside, only blood could be seen, but stepping inside, there were some severed limbs and large patches of blood-stained wool torn off...

Zhang Shungui came up behind him, and upon seeing the scene, bent over and vomited.

The people inside the house gradually woke up, and Li Fengzhi, upon seeing the gory scene, couldn’t even cry out. Her voice stuck in her throat, only able to make ’aaah’ sounds.

”This wasn’t done by humans!” Zhang Jiantian, wrapping his coat around him, stood on the steps, eyes wide, muttering.

No need for him to say it; everyone present knew this wasn’t done by humans. No one heard a sound last night; it must have been something fiercely scary that came and frightened those sheep.

Yet, the two brothers were outside, nobody heard a thing?

”Brothers, were you sitting here last night?” The fourth brother, Zhang Shunlu, pointed at the watermark on the ground.

Zhang Shuncai and Zhang Shungui looked at the watermark and felt a chill inside. Then they saw some paw prints at the bottom of the steps, faint, indistinguishable what they belonged to.

The two brothers exchanged a glance, both seeing the fear in the other’s eyes.

The thing that came last night had obviously approached them. Seeing the state of the sheep pen, it was definitely a fearsome creature...

Just thinking that yesterday night that thing’s tongue might have even licked their faces gave them shivers all over. If it had taken a bite...

Zhang Shungui was even more overwhelmed; his lower abdomen tightened, and a warm stream ran down his legs, a strong smell spreading out.

He was scared to pee!

”Could it be... we really offended the Huang Daxian?” Zhang Jiantian muttered.

Is there any other explanation? It’s not like they’re the only ones with chickens, pigs, and sheep. But, they have lots of men, yet only they suffered. If not offending the Huang Daxian, what else could it be!

The whole family had grave expressions, all gathered in the east room, silently looking at each other, with no words when meeting each other’s gaze, while the bloody sheep pen outside remained untended, and no one cared about the lambs inside.

Li Fengzhi was still trembling with fear, snuggled up with Zhang Lianqiao, neither mother nor daughter speaking a word.

The room full of men, other than the clicking of their dry tobacco pipes, made no other sound.
